About

Sting is a 17-time Grammy-winning artist and a founding member of the pioneering new wave band The Police. Born in Wallsend, England, Gordon Sumner, a.k.a. Sting, became one of the best-selling artists of all-time as the bassist and frontman of The Police. The band released five studio albums and six Top 10 singles, including the Sting-penned No. 1 hit “Every Breath You Take,” before disbanding in 1986. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and their 2008 reunion tour was the third highest-grossing tour of the ’00s. Since releasing his 1985 solo debut The Dream of the Blue Turtles, Sting has been recognized with a British CBE and an Emmy, featured at the Kennedy Center Honors and inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has also received four Oscar nominations, and his 2014 Broadway musical The Last Ship, which was inspired by his childhood and featured music and lyrics by Sting, was nominated for two Tony Awards. A constant experimenter of genres including jazz, pop, classical and world music, Sting won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2019 with Shaggy for their 2018 collaborative album 44/876.

Great Music. Great Musician. Great Show

by Ro on 10/12/23Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

The dude is 72 and still sounds pretty dang good. He looks as fit as he did 30 years ago. He sang a great mix of songs including beginning the show with "Message in a Bottle"and ending with "Fragile", two of my favorites.

    Amazing!

by Renee on 10/12/23Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

Sting’s performance was simply amazing! The artistry demonstrated by he and his entire band was nothing short of outstanding. Serenading concert goers with favorites, sharing some stories, the 2 hour pace of the show, interweaving pieces of his musical set together flawlessly left us feeling joyful and musically satisfied. And those encores! Don’t want to neglect a shout out to his opener, Joe Sumner (who also happens to be his son). You can tell the apple didn’t fall far from its musical tree! Great voice, delightful songs, wonderful prelude to his dad’s show.

    Sting was awesome!

by alarsons on 10/12/23Toyota Pavilion at Concord - Concord

Concord Pavillion is a great place to see a concert! Probably not so much in October, since it was dark before the concert even started, and pretty chilly. I believe this was their last event for the season. Seats were filled but the grassy area was like maybe 40 people? Lots of room to roam and the vending and restrooms were uber convenient. And of course, a very pretty outlook. Sting and the opening act, his son Joe Sumner, had very low-key stage effects, I guess I would have expected more, but it was so casual and cool and possibly Stings choice. We could have seen Sting in Portland in our Moda Center, which is a huge indoor venue, so much more fun than that!. Vendors were super nice - surprising for me since we do lots of Live Nation concerts and a lot of times LN employees are not nice at all. LN: Please post entrance requirements: I looked and looked and there were no requirements on the LN website - posted for this concert. We brought chairs (since we were sitting in the grass) and my very small purse was designated as too big. So we needed to go back to our car. Oh and notes on purse size, goodness! There were so many purses way bigger than mine! Did not matter, if I had just known before hand, I would have been prepared. I actually had a smaller bag in my car! So, Sting gets 5 stars and Concord Pavillion gets 5 Stars, and Live Nation gets like 2 stars, for again, not informing ticket purchasers of entry requirements. But at least the vendors were super nice this time! Thanks!

    Amazing!

by Lisa on 10/11/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

If you are a Sting fan, this concert did not disappoint. He sang so many of his greatest hits and he is still an amazing musical talent who's music touches so many. I can't stop looking at my video and listening to Sting Radio on Pandora. I especially enjoyed the rapper who joined him in a new version of "Shape of My Heart". Gosh, what a memorable night!

Started slow but then really took off.....

    by G-Dog 37 on 10/11/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

When the concert started I thought Sting being 72 was losing it as he was way off but it only took a song or two then he was back to being himself. The performance was full of energy and had most of the place standing and dancing up a storm. Everyone really seemed to be enjoying themselves.

    Pretty good

by Cal Keefer on 10/11/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Not sure why, but I wasn't impressed by this concert. Sting is a good entertainer, but it didn't measure up to other concerts I have seen this year. The Hollywood Bowl needs to do something about their entrance and exit process. It was a chaotic "every man for himself "undertaking. Finding your proper seat was a challenge too with 4 different employees directing me to the wrong seat. The fifth employee got us to the right place.

    Dream Come True! 🎉

    by BigFan🤩 on 10/11/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Was my Birthday Gift and It Did Not Disappoint! It was nothing short of magical, his voice was flawless, I never sat down. Hollywood Bowl is one of my favorite Venues and Sting performing there was so wonderful. The band and back up singers were so fun & had such great voices… wow! I was in Awe of All !!! A few favorites: Fields Of Gold, & Why Would I Cry For You, and Every Breath You Take!!! Wow. (Only drawback was the country song re-sing , I am not a country fan, sorry folks. ) Sting thank you for the best performance!

    A wonderful experience

by Joyce A on 10/11/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Sting is a master musician -- from his music to his masterful lyrics to the bands he assembles when he tours. From the first moments when he walked onstage and started Message In A Bottle -- the crowd (sold out - 17,500 seating capacity) shouted in unison in joy and started singing. An entire arena united in music, such a wonderful thing with all that's going on in the country and the world nowadays. The energy never let up from the performance of his songs to the easy banter with the audience as he talked about the songs before performing them. The classic Roxanne was the penultimate piece, but the last one brought me to tears -- Fragile. A perfect choice. The backup singers were fantastic. It was wonderful to see Dominic Miller again.

    Sting was amazing

by Mimi on 10/11/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

We loved Sting at the Hollywood Bowl. The venue is awesome. It was filled to capacity. Sting sounded amazing and he still looks so good for his age. We were impressed that he sang for over two hours! Everyone around us looked like they were enjoying the show as much as us. I hope to have the opportunity to see him again. Simply amazing.

    Low Energy Evening

by Hammer on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

As an avid concert goer (check my records!), I see many types of shows. The best ones are when the audience is into it, and is standing and rolling with the music. This was not the case at the Bowl. Sting still has it, that is for sure. Sting sang for Sting, and that is fine. I compared it to many Dylan shows I've seen where he would change the tempo of songs and play obscure cuts with just a few crumbs thrown the audiences' way. The crowd basically sat on their hands all night waiting for that three or four song run of familiar tunes. It never happened. No worries, I'm on my way to Frost Amphitheater later this month to see Bob Weir and the Wolf Brothers. No worries of audience participation there! Rock On.

    A wild ride!

by Natalie on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Absolutely stunning, breathtaking, wild ride with Sting and his son and his band! The backup singers were phenomenal! Sting played for over 2 hours, ripping his guitar in his t-shirt that showed ripped arm and ab muscles. That guy looks fabulous! I think he's in his 70's! The songs--both Police and his solo stuff--made up clap, shout, whistle, sing (offkey, but who cares?) Such a joyous, exhilarating experience. The encore brought Sting out to sing "Roxanne"and we were all on our feet. Then closed with "Fragile."

    Bliss

by Turo on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Sting has been a part of my life since the Police. I've now seen him 6-8 times, missed him in Florence by one night. One of the most unbelievable talents of our time. Unmistakable voice that just croons you to sleep. One of the best shows I've seen of him.
