About

Considering the astonishing gifts he has already given us through his music, do we even have the right to expect any more from Stevie Wonder? Maybe, maybe not, but the truth is the artist whose first No. 1 hit came five decades ago with "Fingertips" is in the midst of a creative explosion akin with his greatest years in the 1970's. For his first studio recordings in eight years, Wonder, the rare touring act who can be called genius without qualification, has produced not one but two records, both as distinct in their origin as they are in their intention. To fulfill a promise made to his mother who passed away in 2006, Wonder is making he first foray into gospel music; he's also making an additional record that reflects not only his growing interest in hip-hop but also personal heartbreak stemming from among other things his recent divorce.

But none of this should indicate that the Motown legend is turning his back on his monumental legacy. The owner of over 50 top 40 singles has recently taken to thrilling ticket buyers by playing the entirety of his 1976 diamond selling classic Songs in the Key of Life live in concert. It is a rare that in our lifetime a legend of Stevie Wonder's stature could find equal inspiration reaching into the future as well as the past. It is rarer still that he is able to share his joyous visions in all their power with anyone fortunate enough to catch this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer on tour.

Stevie was amazing (5 stars), venue (2 stars)

by LOVEJOY1908 on 9/2/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

My husband has seen Stevie more than twenty times. This is my second time seeing him in concert. It was an unforgettable night. I originally thought the concert would be cancelled because The Queen's funeral was the following day. But, the show still went on. It was truly a dance party! I enjoyed the live photo sharing during the show. And, the tribute to Aretha. Frederic Yonnett and Dave Chappelle joined Stevie on stage and it was amazing. Stevie convinced Dave to free style. The Aretha tribute and several songs gave me chills. Easily one of the best shows we have attended. So, I don't plan on returning to the MGM for a concert. We waited in an extremely long line only to be directed upstairs where another long line waited. This one had two security scanners. If you had a bag, you had to wait in the long line. The other line had very few folks using it. If your boyfriend looked like a weight lifter and you walked through the line, the security guard wouldn't say anything. Folks were getting upset with the haphazard way he was enforcing the rule. As for those of us in the bag line, after you went through the metal detector and had your bag checked, you were then subject to a hand wand. But they only had one wand. If you were in the other line, you missed out on this special treatment. It was unorganized. And, for as much as those tickets costs, I don't expect 40 minutes of waiting in lines.

The incomparable Stevie did it again: entertained, in spite of his emotional pain from the loss of a dear friend. Outstanding show from one of the best entertainers of all time.

    What a show!

by BlackIronMann on 9/2/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

Stevie Wonder put on an outstanding show. Music, humor, singing. He performed for 3 1/2 hours without an intermission and still didn't sing some of his hits. I am privileged to have witness this icon in performance live.

He was awesome! His back ground singers were awesome! His band was awesome! His surprise guess... Dave Chapelle was awesome! The entire show from start to finish was awesome!!! Can't wait until he comes back to the Baltimore/DC area again! Truly an unforgettable concert.

by ElleWilson on 9/2/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

I happened to see Stevie on the night before Aretha’s funeral. Despite his clear mourning, he still delivered an amazing show. Lots of crowd participation, sang a wide range of songs, and still sounds really good! How awesome to see a legend in action.

    A Wonder-full Time

by Anonymous on 9/2/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

This is my 4th time seeing Stevie Wonder live in the last 10 years and he continues to amaze me! My sisters and I took my parents for their 70th birthday this year and it was unforgettable. MGM is a great venue if you can afford be ticket price, parking is free, staff is friendly and helpful and the theater is well designed, not a bad seat in the house. Stevie sang many of his hits but also covered some songs by legends. He took time to highlight the background singers who are all super talented and the musicians. The opening DJ kept up the crowds energy before the show started. Go see this show!
