    Awesome

by Husker90 on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

The Steven Curtis Chapman/Jeremy Camp concert at the Iowa State Fair was both Hot in temperature and Hot in entertainment. It was a night filled with great music and a spiritual uplifting testimonials from both artists. These two artists are people you can relate to and believe they walk and talk everything they sing about in their music. It was a night that I enjoyed greatly. Thank you 107.1 KNWI and the State Fair for including Christian music in the entertainment line up again this year.

    LIVE OUT LOUD!

by DBob on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Jeremy Camp opened the show with my personal favorite, "Give You Glory." I'm not sure how familiar some of the crowd was with his catalog of music because they were a little slow to warm up. Camp, however, kept the energy level up by continuing with "Tonight" and pulled the crowd into it with his conversations with them in between songs. His stories of his family, his faith, and his experiences connected each of his songs with his life and to similar experiences that those in the crowd may have had. By the end of his set, the people were wanting more. More came when Steven Curtis Chapman hit the stage. I think most of the crowd was there for him and more familiar with is music, having released about 15 albums through his stellar career. HIs son Caleb joined him on guitar and his son Will was on drums so it really became a family event. He shared his faith journey through stories of his family and his music, beginning with "The Great Adventure," an older tune from his catalog. He included many more recent tunes like "Live Out Loud," "Dive," and "Magnificent Obsession." He was even nice enough to give us a sneak peek of his upcoming album by performing "Heaven Has A Face," which he recently recorded for his November release.

    Opener should have been headliner...

by PorkChopOnaStick on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Even with typical State Fair sound issues (muddy and bass-heavy), Jeremy Camp still rocked and filled his set with big hits and some moving worship songs. Steven Curtis Chapman is definitely talented, but he spent most of the night talking - I think he only played six songs TOTAL. Not worth the price of admission for all the SCC fans in the stands. Jeremy Camp-sters got their money's worth, but headliners should be expected to play a longer set with more numbers than the opener.... Should have given the headline to Camp and let SCC talk it up as an opening act.

    Rockers with a message

by IM4JESUS on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

The concert was fantastic. Jeremy Camp got the crowd to their feet with that throaty, powerful voice and Steven finished it off with soothing, soulful songs from the heart. Both bands showed unforgettable passion. These guys, and the bands, love what they do, and love God. With all the pain in their pasts', it is a testimony to God Love to see them pour their heart and soul into sharing their gifts with us. If you want to see God's work through two fantastic musicians, go see these guys!

by starrgazer on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Our family of 4 purchased 6 tickets to the Jeremy Camp/Steven Curtis Chapman concert. We enjoyed it very much and are thankful to ISF and 107.1 for sponsoring this. Keep having these types of concerts and venues offered at the ISF. We'll keep coming back! Btw, the fireworks display was an added bonus! Thanks!

    double dip music treat!

by lipovaca on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

the show was fantastic, the artists were engaging and real. I felt like I got my money's worth out of Jeremy Camp so the Steven Curtis Chapman portion of the show was really great since it was on the same ticket. The only problem with the show was the sound wasn't set up to make Jeremy sound as good as I have heard him before, but it was set up great for Steven.

Jeremy Camp / Steven Curtis Chapman were great!!

by Oneofmany on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

The concert was a God-honoring event. God was exalted and not the musicians although they were truly gifted and entertaining. They were open with their lives and their struggles. Jeremy Camp with the loss of his first wife to cancer and Stephen with the death of his 5-year old in 2008 in an accident in his driveway. One cool thing - Stephen's 2 boys are on the road with him. One is an amazing drummer and the other a guitarist. So cool to see a family that loves each other and focuses on God.

    Took Way to Long

by jcl0525 on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Jeremy Camp did a wonderful job both with his music and with his ministry. The sound was terrible in the grandstands the 1st two songs but seem to be fixed for the rest of his show. It took them 40 minutes to change stage settings in my opinion that was way to long. Steven Curtis Chapman didn't even take the stage until 9:35 p.m. for a concert that started at 8 p.m. We left by 10 disappointed in the sound quality. You couldn't understand half of his vocals because the sound was so poor. We were also disappointed that 2 hours into the concert we had only heard 3 songs of his. I am sure he is an incredible performer and I will go to another concert given the opportunity but not at the Iowa State Fair. God has given both of these men a superb talent.

Chapman and Camp Rock the Stage

by SailingSister on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Steven Curtis Chapman and Jeremy Camp kicked off the Iowa State Fair in grand fashion. The Holy Spirit was present throughout the entire concert. They had the audience on their feeting, singing, clapping and swaying to the music. They both left everyone wanting more. The only thing that distracted from both performers was the volume. The background music was so loud at times it was hard to understand or even hear the words. However, I would definitely go to see both of them again. Thank you!

    Steven Curtis Chapman is Amazing

by Pegster554 on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

I had the priviledge of seeing Steven Curtis Chapman in May at another venue. He truly touched my heart and once again he outdid himself at the Iowa State Fair last night - he puts such emotion into his singing and with all he and his family have been through, it is a testimony for all of us!

by MeLindy on 8/14/09Iowa State Fair - Des Moines

Jeremy Camp started out with an incredible show and great songs and then Steven Curtis Chapman was on with an amazing and incredible show starting with one of my kids' favorite, "The Great Adventure". It was very heart-breaking as he talked about his daughter Maria and then did the song "Cinderella" and it showed how much faith he has in God. The whole show was FANTASTIC and my two children and I LOVED THE WHOLE SHOW !
