  • Great show

by Sam on 12/3/21Sony Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Steve was excellent. Major drawback was that Sony Hall crowded people at tables when half the room was empty. Seating should have been spread out for everyone's safety and comfort.

  • I was a wonderful event. Steve Tyrell was amazing.

Steve’s arrangements were great, his song selections & his band was the best. The venue itself was perfect & I can’t wait for his return.

  • Steve Tyrell always delivers!

by SteveInAlexandria on 12/2/21Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 2nd time I've seen Steve Tyrell at the Birchmere, and he continues to be impressive. His mastery of the Great American Songbook remains unequalled among male singers who are currently working, his feeling for (and understanding of) the music is obvious, and his stories about each song (and its connection to him) add a nice dimension to his performance. And he clearly knows how much this music means to the audience, as well.

  • Great night of entertainment and dining.

Thanks to COVID-19 the lines were short. It’s too bad more people didn’t get to see Steve and his wonderful band. He started right on time and sang all the way to the end. Steve has a wonderful stage presence and his voice is better than ever. I just had to get one of his new CD’s, “Shades of Ray”, which Steve graciously signed afterwards. I’m so glad I went to the show. 😁

  • One of a kind

by Rob on 12/2/21Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I have been to see Steve Tyrell on other occasions. This concert was bar far the best - more intimate and engaging. Mr. Tyrell is one of the last of his kind. He sings the “standards” like none other, yet is still producing new albums by moving laterally across the music spectrum and honoring those who influences his career. If you want a relaxing evening, good company and great music - go see Steve Tyrell!

  • Expected better

by GMan on 10/11/21Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - PortsmouthRating: 2 out of 5

The Venue was outstanding, the work they've done to enhance that building is beyond words. What wasn't beyond words was the rest of the evening. It started with my Wife taken to another building for a Covid test. She only had one vaccination and I guess everyone has different precautions these days?? This took 25 minutes with the walk. We then enter the facility and go to our seats at the Bar. There are people sitting there. Instead of removing these people, we need to wait twenty minutes for them finish what they're doing to move down a seat. Four times, the Hostess came over to us and told us it would be soon... We couldn't even order a drink, which at that point, should've been complimentary. We then finally get to our seats with five minutes to spare, only to realize that we couldn't see the Performer?? They were totally obstructed! We looked around, half the Bar Area was obstructed with everyone watching on a screen. Could've done that at home! Steve was okay but his choice of songs and the numerous name drops was boring and took it's toll. We left early. Sorry, we had really looked forward to this night out...

  • Enjoyable jazz performance at Jimmy’s on Congress

by Dan on 10/11/21Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - PortsmouthRating: 4 out of 5

The venue, sound system, and acoustics were amazing. The band was very talented. Steve Tyrell has a diverse repertoire and experiences which he shared with the audience. Unfortunately, it seems that age has taken its toll on his voice. We found ourselves wondering whether drinking water during his performance might have helped with the projection issues during some of the louder, more upbeat songs. He sounded much better during the softer, slower songs.

  • Magnificent!

by Moose on 10/10/21Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

Steve still has that unique voice, he was wonderfully personable with the audience, and his song selection was excellent - a fine mix of his older and newer recordings. The venue was excellent. Although we were unable to get a table in the main room, the view from the bar was fine, and the sound was Crystal clear. The whole experience was wonderfully enjoyable and completely memorable.
