  • Stevel Earle

I have been following this artist for 15 years. This is my first time seeing him live. All I can say is I have a much better appreciation for what goes in to his music now and he is an outstanding performer and artist.

  • Steve Earle was thoroughly enjoyable

by Buster on 5/20/15Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Played for about two hours. While I like his music I really only know a few of his tunes well, and I felt I would enjoy anything he played, which turned out to be true. He played some blues tunes from a new album which were very good. I have listened to his XM radio show many times and he has a great knowledge about the history of music and musicians.

  • Steve and The Mastersons

by PegLegGroove on 5/20/15Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

The Mastersons are definitely worth checking out either on this tour or on their own if they come through your town. Remind me of '90s Jayhawks with a killer female vocal in place of Gary Louris and a better, but similar, Mark Olson counterpart. Steve and the Dukes really sound great. But don't come to this expecting him to get deep into his back catalog. He'll hit a few of the mandatory (ie. Copperhead Road, My Old Friend the Blues, Can't Remember if We Said Goodbye) but not much else. Very strong focus on new album, which really sounds great. Can't stand that he plays Hey Joe and especially that he closes set with Wild Thing. This is one of the great Amercan songwriters of our time (IMO) and he certainly has the back catalog to avoid such "wedding/prom band" song choices.

My first time seeing a Steve Earle live show. The band was excellent the Mastersons made the show.

  • Steve Earle and the Dukes in Salina, Kansas

    by tessa56 on 5/13/15Stiefel Theatre - SalinaRating: 5 out of 5

Steve Earle and the Dukes were outstanding, playing old and new songs in one continual constant flow of music for approx. two hours, without a break. The music sounded even better than any of their recordings. We traveled through hail storms, despite tornado warnings and it was worth it. By far one of the best concerts I've gone too.

  • Steve Earle Delivers

by AuvergneHawk on 5/12/15Stiefel Theatre - SalinaRating: 5 out of 5

I have followed the music and career of Steve Earle since the late 1980s. I have been a big fan - but I had never seen him in concert. The Stiefel Theater in Salina Kansas is where that puppy got popped. What a great venue for a tremendous concert. Even though it was a rainy Thursday evening, Steve and the Dukes delivered everything I could have hoped for. He played most of his songs from his new album "Terraplane" but many of his classics as well. Although I live near Kansas City, I am seriously considering a road trip to Winterpeg to see them again in August. Thanks Steve.

  • Great

Mr. Earle is one coole dude. He put on a great show. Almost a 3 hour show. He told some great stories and played all his great songs. Can't wait to see him again.

Steve was personable and entertaining. So much more than 'Copperhead Road'. I loved the old blues tunes and Earley stuff. Pun intended.

  • Great girl's night out at the Stiefel

This show was freakin' amazing. The Mastersons were awesome, and Steve Earle was on point-- what a show! And the Stiefel Theater is seriously an incredible venue.

  • Steve Earle, Stiefel Theater, May 7th, 2

by MusicWithTheMan on 5/10/15Stiefel Theatre - SalinaRating: 5 out of 5

Another great show at the Stiefel! We had seats in row I in the center section and the sound was great. Not having seen Steve live in many years I didn't quite know what to expect, but this was everything you could want in a Steve Earle show. He covered the whole range of material from early to late, from acoustic to hard rock and light upbeat songs to the darker side of Steve Earle. Fortunately I had picked up his new album Terraplane and so was familiar with at least 5 of the 6 or so songs from that album, including Baby, Baby, Baby, You're the Best Lover That I Ever Had and Go-Go Boots Are Back. But he also covered early favorites like Guitar Town and Copperhead Road. The band sounded great. The opening duo, The Mastersons, a husband and wife team of Chris Masterson and Eleanor Whitmore were also a major part of Steve's band. Chris on lead guitar and Eleanor on fiddle and sometimes the keyboard were both excellent. Bottom line, fantastic show, great musicians, great tune selection from an American icon. Thanks Steve! 5 Guitars

  • Steve Earle took us to Telephone Rd and back.

by ROCKETRRR on 7/7/14House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Steve Earle and the Dukes were superb. Set list perfect. New and old song selection very nice. The sound person had a hard time. It sounded like it was set up for outside. Bass too much vocals barely audible. Steve and the bamd were on it, but the sound was terrible for the first hour.

  • Good show, poor sound

by Anonymous on 7/6/14House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 2 out of 5

Steve Earle put on a long, comprehensive energetic show. Unfortunately, from our right front balcony seats, the sound was muddy and lyrics were very hard to hear. It may be this location at HOB, but it seemed the bass and percussion was overamplified and sound was distorted. I've observed the same thing at HOB in a somewhat different location. Next time I'l try a completely different location before giving up on HOB. The poor sound really detracts from the experience.

  • Steve was great!

That's one off the bucket list. I had never seen him but have been listening to his music for years. Was not disappointed ONE HELL OF A SHOW!

  • Don't stop now, your just getting started!

by WildBill on 6/27/14Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - BowRating: 4 out of 5

Great band, The Mastersons and Steve Earle were spot on with the vocals; his long time bassist and drummer completed the group. The Mastersons provided great lead guitar and fiddle; I was so impressed that I went out and bought their newest CD soon afterwards. The show was great but way too short; it was only 90 minutes including the encore! Does anyone remember when bands used to play their hearts out? That was why I was able to witness Led Zepplin play Louie Louie because they ran out of songs back in 1972; a 4 hour concert, what ever happened to that attitude?

  • Steve Earl and his band were fantastic

Music was great - hadn't heard any of his songs before but enjoyed the various use of instruments and the sound system rocked.

Fantastic show. Had a great time and got his autograph after the show.

  • Pure Genius

by stljc on 6/11/14The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

If you are a Earle fan, you'd be an idiot to miss this. The set list left you completely fulfilled. Of course there are some songs I wish I'd heard, but with a catalog like his you will always be left that way. He covered careful selections from the 80's to the new album, playing for a bit before doing some of his commentary/monologue. It was perfectly balanced, and as a musician I enjoy finding out the pros are actually human and hearing the live mistakes. Evidently Steve and crew are above human...not a musical mistake there and only one lyrical omission that I heard. The guy at merch was super cool...the whole thing was a class act and refreshing after so many "major productions" where huge production companies have their hand in your pocket the whole time. Every fan there was respectful, conversational (when appropriate) and civil. Tour staff was great. The venue relaxed and was better than ever for this show.

  • Love Steve Earle

by Stevestheman on 6/9/14The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Steve last Sept. At the Roots n blues festival in Columbia. They were great but did a short set because of time restraints. This show was much longer (2 + hours) and although there were Some sound problems at first they rocked us all with great classics like copperhead road and guitar town along with newer stuff (and that's a good thing too!) They do a lot from the low highway which is a great album. Steve seemed to enjoy the show and it came through in the performance of Steve and the Dukes. He always seems to be so in touch with the audience and his songs resonate with the common man and woman. Definitely one of the best songwriters of all times. Fantastic show that included I believe 28 tunes and the banter between those songs was great too. Thank you Steve, keep doing what you do so well. We all love it!
