  • Judy Collins & Stephen Stills

by Plutsk on 6/12/18Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

For people of my generation, who came up during the Sixties, this was a deeply satisfying concert. Judy Collins still sings like an angel and Stephen Stills is still a great guitarist. To hear Collins sing “Who Knows Where the Time Goes,” “Clouds,” “Both Sides Now,” and other iconic songs was wonderful. Her a capella solo on the Dreamers was beautiful and wrenching. They did memorable tributes to both Tom Petty (“I Won’t Back Down”) and Leonard Cohen (“Everybody Knows”). The weak point was Stills’ singing, which was often marginal and occasionally bad, but hearing his monster duet with the bass player more than compensated for that. A great evening!

  • The sound person needs to make adjustments

by MeagD2 on 6/12/18Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 2 out of 5

Was excited to see both Stills and Collins. They needed to bring Still’s Mic vol up, every time they sang anything jointly he was basically drowned out by Collins. Jokes and banter between the two were a bit corny and if you have ever seen an interview with them together, it was the same schtick. Ultimately it was a so-so show made worse by bad sound.

  • So needed

by og123 on 6/11/18Coronado Performing Arts Center - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

The love and respect Judy and Stephen afford each other is an inspiration. Their political nods were spot on! Wept when Judy sang Maria!

  • Steven Still was terrible

by Redeye12 on 6/11/18Coronado Performing Arts Center - RockfordRating: 4 out of 5

It appears that he lost his his voice. Whenevery he would sing solo, they cranked up the band to cover him up. It was embarrassing to watch. However Judy Collins can still perform and almost made up for him.

  • I'd rather see Stephen alone!

by Shelbycat77 on 6/11/18Coronado Performing Arts Center - RockfordRating: 3 out of 5

Love, love Stephen Stills. It was disappointing that he shared the stage with Judy. Could not hear his voice and he didn't play any of his classic songs. I thought Judy would go on first. But it was still nice to see Stephen!

  • Voice of reason and great music

by nostrildamas on 6/11/18Coronado Performing Arts Center - RockfordRating: 4 out of 5

Been a Stills fan and Collins fan for many years.. This was a great concert , 5th row from stage.. Judy was resplendent and for almost 80 she sounded 30.. great job.. Stills still can play well .. when younger ( on acoustic in particular) he was incredibly talented.. I wish Steve would have done more strictly acoustic songs .. but I know that he is almost totally deaf so my belief is that hinders singing and playing.. but it was a joy to listen their stories.. a great concert for it once again takes my generation to speak their mind about the deplorable state of the union... anyway.. loved the concert. ..

  • Judy Collins was great. Stephen Stills...

by southbendghosts on 6/11/18Coronado Performing Arts Center - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

The music was good, although I got tired of a guitar solo during every single song. Judy Collins was great, and still has a wonderful voice. While Stephen Stills can still play a mean guitar, he can no longer sing. He croaked through his songs. The set would have been improved with more solo numbers from Judy and less from Stephen.

  • Fabulous concert!

Steven Stills and Judy Collins put on a show that we will always remember. The audience all loved it. They still have it!

  • Stephen Stills and Judy Collins were HORRIBLE

by Tomm57 on 6/11/18Coronado Performing Arts Center - RockfordRating: 1 out of 5

The Stephen Stills and Judy Collins concert at the Coronoda was absolutley horrible on many counts. Stephen Stills lyric memory, timing, singing, and guitar playing was not even close to the value of the ticket prices, he was just bad. Judy Collins on the other hand, still has that anjelic voice, but was pulled down due to Stills’s stuggles. Another big pain, was the constant polictical rant. While I understand buyer beware from their history, the concert was billed and promoted on their early passionate and volatile romance, spurning many songs, specifically “Suite Judy Blue Eyes”. In today’s world of 24/7 political information, please, please, please, just play the music.

  • Oil and water

by Briannadaddy on 6/9/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Steven and Judy are legendary each, but don't sing worth a damn together; their voices just don't mix. They screwed up lyrics, hit sour notes, Judy reached up and pulled her hair back in he middle of a song; leaving me wondering if she was playing a live guitar. Humphreys is a great venue, but this was a very poorly executed performance

  • Stills & Collins Still Got it Goin’On

by FriendtFun on 6/9/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Close your eyes, listen to their music and you are back in the sixties. Stephen Stills is an amazing guitar player, and Judy Collins has the same, strong voice. Their stories were fun and nostalgic. Great quality musicianship, delivery and stories filled the evening at Humphreys by the Bay.

  • Negative experience

by tomatochick on 6/8/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Four stars is for the venue only. And thanks to Humphrey's for making it a cell phone free concert! But then, I hate to say it: worst Humphrey's concert ever. Sills was drunk or high or otherwise over the edge and unable to communicate clearly. The band (or Sills) was often out of synch, out of tune. The few clear high notes from Collins saved the day. Definitely not worth the ticket price. I wanted to ask for my money back.

  • Steven Stills Falls Flat

by AttyrobIAH on 6/7/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

I expected a honed rehearsed concert from Stills backed by Judy Collins. Yet the production was a mesh of unplugged instruments and missed lyrics. At times Stills looked over st Ms Collins and smiled when he missed timing and slurred words. Some in the audience whispered Stills was intoxicated and wasted their money. It was obvious to us sitting in row one that Stills tongue was swollen or impaired. Not playing his top six hits replaced by other musicians hits was disappointing save Collins magnificent voice. The failure to prepare for the concert was made worse by vitriol of political innuendo to President Trump a slight to at least half of the audience. This was not the venue for politics from both entertainers. That was not what we paid for nor was the amateurish presentation.

  • Stills/Collins

by tammytownsend on 6/7/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

Well, I knew they were legends, but one of them should give it up, and it wasn't Judy Collins. She was just great and her voice is still amazing.

  • Disappointed

by 0scr on 6/7/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

went to the stephen stills/judy collins concert hoping their voices would have stood the test of the years. sadly, stephen stills' had not. he was difficult to understand when he spoke, his singing left much to be desired and he flubbed some lyrics. his guitar playing was good but that didn't compensate for the rest of his performance.. judy collins, however, still has that angelic voice even at age 79. given the history the 2 of them have, i expected more. the chemistry between them was lacking and the show didn't seem as tight as it should have been. the 4 star rating was only for the venue. humphrey's by the bay is a fun place to see a show. the show, however, is rated 2 stars and I cannot recommend. the opening act, joe purdy, was excellent. He's a gifted folk singer, song writer and bonded with the audience with his humor.

  • We all grow old.

by Itsy on 6/7/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

We've been to many concerts at Humphrey's, but never one where our first response was, "What was that?" At first, we thought that the sound man was sloppy, then we realized that it wasn't his fault. I don't know if Stephen was drunk, stoned or just over his head, but he was slurring his words. The end for us came when Judy started singing and she was flat. That's like Superman not being able to fly! At that point we left in an attempt to keep our memories of these performers from their "better days."

  • Stills and Collins was quite the show!

by BigGameGreg on 6/7/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Between Judy Collins singing like never before and Stills guitar play sounding better than ever, what could be finer than a night on a San Diego bay? Well, it was pretty cold but that silly fact didn't seem to bother the crowd or the band. The food at the hotel with the dinner package was very average but who would notice with the star siting right next to you overlooking the incoming boats for the show. Ms. Collins looked so much better without all that faux hair flowing on stage. The venue is just amazing...intimately cozy, on the water and only steps from the bar, food and parking. How could we not have been here before? Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

  • Great concert

Love going to Humphreys Always a good time with the outdoor concert. Steven Stills was great. He can still get down with a guitar.

  • Very poor show.

We left early. Hard to hear and Poorly organized. Not worth the time.

  • Stills lousy after all these years

by wagstaff on 6/7/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 1 out of 5

As inveterate concert-goers, my wife and I have attended large, medium-sized, and intimate shows in venues both locally and during our travels. I will say unequivocally that this was the absolute worst show we have seen. We love Humphrey's and have been going there for years but feel that even though the headliners were once considered to be 4-5 star performers, they blew it on Monday night. Their harmonies were off as were their individual vocals, Stills ( known for being a stellar guitarist ) played as if he just learned the instrument that afternoon, and together they sounded like they were going through a bad audition. I just chalk this one up to "some days you eat the bear, and some days the bear eats you" -- we got up and left early, and once home felt bad for those who were still sitting it out in the audience. Otherwise it was a great show.
