Wonderful show. The opening act, Rivernecks, were very good and I will be going to St Augustine to see them again. I love, love , love the Steep Canyon Rangers. Amazing musicians.

  • STEEP CANYON RANGERS

by GPJMAJ on 1/13/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This is the most entertaining group of musicians that I know of. Each artist has been at the top of their game each of the three times that I have seen them. Even my wife who is not a bluegrass fan totally enjoys their performances.

  • Amazing musical talent

by c22c on 1/10/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We were introduced to Steep Canyon Rangers when they toured with Steve Martin. I think the performance last week was 10 times better. These gentlemen are extremely talented musically. I don't know why more people weren't at the show. I think they are more talented than Old Crow Medicine Show and I like Old Crow a lot. Both vocally and instrumentally, they are fabulous. I like their laid back performance and solid bluegrass music. They blended some of their older stuff with new to make an outstanding evening.

  • Awesome Show

Had never seen The Steep Canyon Rangers before. They are amazing musicians and I will definitely go see them again. They put so much energy and love in their performance that you could feel their passion for the music.

  • Steep Canyon Rangers-Blugrass at its finest!!

by Danplazbass on 1/10/15U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This band doesn't disappoint. They took the stage and played for over an hour and a half straight. All members are masters of their perspective roles.

  • fantastic concert!

    by TreeLover53 on 11/2/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Steep Canyon Ranger last year at Birchmere and have heard them at venues including the Stage and Wolftrap. This was by far their BEST performance! I traveled to Idaho to see them this time & must say it was worth the trip! They played their hearts out - love how they transition into different songs!! I like the fact they enjoy playing to a smaller crowd even though they have hit the big time.

  • Phenomenal show

by ClearCreek on 10/28/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Steep Canyon Rangers are incredibly talented and engage well with the audience, particularly at a venue like the Birchmere. Really enjoyed the show!

  • Great evening of great music!

by LeviZink on 10/27/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

We had seen the Steep Canyon Rangers at the Birchmere before, but this was the first time they had an "opening act" -- Jonathan Byrd and the Pickup Cowboys. We thought Jonathan Byrd & Co. were fantastic and had a very unique style incorporating a musical saw to ethereal effect. Then the Rangers took the stage and entertained us with songs from their most recent album. They are such phenomenal musicians; it's so amazing to watch them play!

  • SCR Excellent as usual

by Foggiefan on 10/27/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

The joy of the SCR live performances is hearing all the favorites with additional flourishes, leadins and riffs. They also introduced new material

Fabulous show, as always. Glad the Berchmere was able to get them booked.

  • Steep Canyon Rangers blew the house away

by BigGeorges on 10/27/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Friday night at the Birchmere, the Steep Canyon Rangers blew the house out of the doors and into the parking lot. If you don't go see them any chance you get, you are really leaving a hole in your life !

  • Talent level is off the charts!!

by Robncai on 10/27/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I can never get enough of the Steep Canyon Rangers! Incredible instrumentalists, vocalists, and just amazing overall performers. The music blows me away every time I see them live. My wife and I treated my parents to this show for Mom's 76th birthday and in their 154 combined years of watching bluegrass and other live country shows they said they'd never seen anything like it before. Needless to say, I think Mom enjoyed this just a bit more than the sweater we got her last year, and honestly, the memory of this show will last just as long! Wow.

  • Excellent, As Usual

by DanAndJoan on 8/19/14The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

The band was at their best, as usual. Even though their music selection has been just about the same every time we see them, they manage to make it sound different each time.

There were 5 in my group. We all enjoyed this show tremendously! Such a talented group of musicians... So glad we went!

  • An Incredible Band!!

by Midlotrailrunner on 8/19/14The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

This band is the "real deal" Each time I see them they get better. On this outing they featured the mandolin player more so than in the past but certainly deservedly so. I always wonder with their tremendous harmonizing why they don't do 1 acapella song. It goes without saying that the fiddle player is absolutely astonishing. They do all of their own music and for the most part , beautiful songs. Do not miss the opportunity to see them. Their tour is just beginning.

I went to this show expecting Steve Martin and Edie Brickell as guests but they were both no shows. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the immense level of talent shown by the Steep Canyon Rangers. I would definitely like to see them again. The show was very energetic and the musicians clearly love what they do.

The Steep Canyon Rangers gave a excellent show! Very talented group! Chamomile and Whiskey were excellent too!

  • Yee-Ha! Bluegrass At Its Finest!

by GoValGal on 6/5/14Library of Congress - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

What a treat to hear Donna Long & Jesse Smith perform together! I would have only loved it more had they used all their time for music! The Steep Canyon Rangers is the reason I traveled for this event. They are a group of the most gifted musicians I've ever seen and they each individually have their own way of complimenting and contributing to the extraordinary talent of the group as a whole. They are a WOW! I had never really heard of Dailey and Vincent before this concert, but they came out singing the one hit most everyone would know and then proceeded to amaze the crowd with the range of age, voices and sound their group could produce. They were quite an impressive show as well! Overall this was a real treat for anyone who appreciates music. I would make the trek again in a heartbeat for such a quality event!

  • Great harmonies

by SkarnKing on 6/2/14Library of Congress - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

All three groups were very good. The highlight of SCR and D&V was the great harmony of multiple voices being on pitch and on time. Instruments were also uniformly good. I didn't know much about this music before I went but am very glad that I got to hear them.

  • Outstanding

by WernerBird on 6/2/14Library of Congress - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Outstanding musicians in a great setting. The Steep Canyon Rangers opened with an unforgettable wall of harmony that will be hard for anyone to exceed. The fiddler was quite a character. One problem: We could have all benefitted from the opening interview indulgence of the LOC curator and Donna Long. We came to hear music. The aire and the reel by Donna Long were beutiful, and wish I could have heard more, instead of blah, blah blah. I felt like a hungry Salvation Army guest waiting for the preacher to shut up to I could eat.
