The Steep Canyon Rangers were great!!! Go see them if you have the chance- you won't regret it!
Great show and great musicians! The fiddle player worked miracles.
Each member of the band is very talented with a specific musical instrument. They blend that tremendous talent into a blue grass harmony that is unique and entertaining. I have become one of their fans.
It just does not get any better than The Steep Canyon Rangers! We have seen LOTS and LOTS of their shows over the last six years - this was their best show ever and the best show we have ever seen at The Birchmere (again , we have seen LOTS of shows at The Birchmere). A very fan friendly group who has been together longer than maybe one bluegrass group and it show in their outstanding performances - truly a "must see" group who have been nominated for a 2012 Grammy AND have won the IBMA 2012 Award as Performers of The Year along with Steve Martin Great vocals and harmony, terrific instrumentalists, together and as individuals. They are unique in that they write most all of the music they perform. Sincerely hope that they will make regular appearances in the DC Metro area!
Excellent concert at the Birchmere on Friday! Have seen the SCRs a few times now and each time is more enjoyable. What talent each band member brings to the group. True entertainers. The music is alive. Looking forward to seeing them more.
The Steep Canyon Rangers are all wonderful musicians, across the board. Nicky Sanders (fiddler) is extraordinary. And they just seem to be having so much fun! Good mix of old and new, with a couple traditionals thrown in. I'll be sorry to see them become too popular to play in an intimate space like the Birchmere. But it seems inevitable! Go, SCR!
Such talent in this bluegrass band. Incredible harmonies of both voices and instruments. Connection with the audience, humor and just plain, clear, awesome musicality. Nicky Sanders is such a bonus to the band!
The Steep Canyon Rangers band is a group of superb musicians and entertainers with few peers in any kind of music today. As always, the Birchmere is a wonderful venue.
They are the best Sound set up was poor for Whitworth
The Steep Canyon Rangers are absolutely superb and entertaining musicians. What a treat! Seating at the Snoqualmie Casino Ballroom was excellent. My only beefs are with an uneven sound system and the plumes of cigarette smoke that waft in from the adjacent casino floor. Ugggh!
I didn't know what to expect when I bought tix for us but we couldn't have have a better time!....These guys are talented and funny, but the music is bluegrass at its best. The audience whistled, stomped and if there had been enough room I think everyone there would have gotten up and danced...SCR played some ole time favorites, but the music they wrote and played was just as good and even better. Buy ticket...take friends...sit back and hold on. These guys do not disappoint in anyway shape or form.....
The band was cohesive and showcased each other's musicianship to the max. We didn't want the evening to end... could have sat there infinitely just listening and tapping our feet. The acoustics in the Snoqualmie Ballroom were great -- which added to making it a perfect evening.
The Steep Canyon Rangers are extremely talented song writers and musicians. Very entertaining. I'm not a huge bluegrass fan, but I love seeing these guys play. Awesome harmonies, banjo, mandolin, bass, guitar and fiddle. I've seen them twice, once with Steve Martin and once all on their own. Both times I've left the show smiling.
The harmonies, the songs, the skills and their sheer delight at having such an enthusiastic audience! The love went both ways. Don't miss them if you get a chance
Steep Canyon Rangers performed with the Prairie Home Companion last year at the Fox. I was very impressed with their smooth bluegrass harmonies. I bought their CD, excellent, and saw them on Austin City Limits with Steve Martin
