  • Hiss Golden Messenger/Steep Canyon Rangers

    by B. M. on 1/22/19U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 4 out of 5

Oh BOY! This show was terrific and my friends and I had a blast celebrating Christmas, New Years, a birthday AND an anniversary. I was skeptical about the venue feeling too big but, the whole show came off as an intimate. booty shakin' party!

  • FANTASTIC SHOW!

by MusicSuperFan on 1/22/19U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Steep Canyon Rangers had an amazing show! Every time we see them, they impress us all over again. The addition of Barrett Smith on standup bass has taken them to the next level. His voice is beautiful and he’s a maestro on string instruments. Can’t wait to see them at Red Rocks and Ryman this year!

  • fantastic introduction to blue grass

by J. on 1/22/19U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was a bit of a gamble because we had never been to a blue grass concert and originally wanted to see Steve Martin (who was not playing). Perhaps it's because we had low expectations but the Rangers masterfully won us over. Each member of the band is an incredible musician and showman in his own right, making for a spectacular show. We want to see them again!

  • Great show

This was such a great show. Great energy and performance from the band.

  • Fun!

    by K. P. on 1/22/19U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Great times in the GA section (standing room only) in-front of the stage. SCR put-on a great show with a really good mix of both new and old.

  • Steep Canyon

Great musicians. Left it all on the stage. Not your typical bluegrass.

This show was absolutely amazing! The Rangers were phenomenal and The Walker Theatre is no doubt the best venue in Chattanooga! I can't wait to go back!

This is the 2nd time that I have seen these guys perform, first time at the Walker Theater. A great show again, some of the best musicians you will ever see. Walker Theater is old style but a great place to watch a show, I will definitely be back.

  • New sound of SCR

    by beachgirl5678 on 2/12/18The Walker Theatre - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

Bottom line -- it was a great show! But there has been a big change in the overall sound of the band, mostly because of the addition of a full drum set, instead of the box drum Mike Ashworth used from the first time I saw SCR several years ago. The change in the sound isn't bad, it's just different, and louder; more rock-like than they had sounded. They played lots of songs off the new album and that was great and it was obvious to us and to people around us that they had SUCH a great time onstage. It was wonderful hearing their older songs, too. They sounded different with the addition of the drums, too. Overall, it was a great show, but I'm going to have to adjust to the new sound. I love this band, and am looking forward to seeing them w/ Steve Martin and Martin Short in a few weeks. Walker Theater is a nice venue; small, intimate; good sound and nice staff.

  • Steep Canyon Rangers - A.MAZ.ING

by jlwms123 on 2/5/18U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

WOW! Don't miss seeing them if you have the opportunity. This was my first time and I wouldn't hesitate to go again. They are masters of their instruments and the vocal harmony was perfection...

  • Bijou Theatre - Steep Canyon Rangers

by Schmoopette on 2/5/18U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 3 out of 5

The theatre has good acoustics, but the seating is not very comfortable. There is no leg room and this becomes quite uncomfortable even for a great performance. So the "venue" does not get a great review. However, the performers, Steep Canyon Rangers, are incredibly talented. They are "one" with their instruments. The time goes by so fast because they are so entertaining. Their performances get better and better.

  • Steep Canyon Rangers Never Disappoint

by WaywardDaughter on 2/4/18U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This performance introduced music from the new Out In The Open release. It was a phenomenal performance that highlighted the talent and skills of every band member.

I have saw these guys several times, but this was by far the BEST they've ever been. One of THE BEST SHOWS EVER.

  • Awesome

by Mickeyver on 2/3/18U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

SCR just keeps getting better and better. Musically, arrangements, sound, instrumentals and solo features by each member are truly awesome. Their stage presence and love of their music makes for an enjoyable evening of fun and entertainment. Can't wait to see them again.

  • Amazing concert!

by ABrookeG on 2/1/18U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 4 out of 5

Steep Canyon Rangers never disappoint!! Love seeing them “at home”. Hands down the best bluegrass band around!

  • Lousy acoustics and sight lines. Great main act.

by Tsander911 on 1/31/18U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 2 out of 5

Venue did a terrible job setting up the sound system for the opening act, River Whyless. Much better for SCR. Sight lines from our seats were poor as was the directionality of the sound system.
