About

STEELY DAN IN CONCERT:

Steely Dan is responsible for some of the most complex, finely crafted classic rock of the 20th century, and they continue to deliver on tour more than 40 years after their debut. Core members Walter Becker and Donald Fagen are legendary for their musicianship, and they only surround themselves with the finest players, making for studio-perfect live renditions of their virtuosic compositions. Whether fans are out to wax nostalgic with "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" or sway in the breeze of "Hey Nineteen," Steely Dan never fails to deliver amaze, with another hit-filled tour planed for summer 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Walter Becker and Donald Fagen met in the late '60s at Bard College in Upstate New York, writing songs together for several years before officially forming Steely Dan and releasing their first single "Dallas" in 1972. While the single sold poorly, their debut album Can't Buy a Thrill was released later that year to considerable critical and commercial success, landing the band their first hits with "Do It Again" and "Reelin' in the Years." They continued to climb the charts throughout the decade, reaching their peak position in 1977 with Aja, a No. 3 hit widely regarded as a seminal album of the classic rock era. Amid rumors of a return to the studio, the band will hit the road in 2014 for an extensive summer tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Steely Dan has been around so long they can play an entire concert of familiar songs and not run out. I personally like a band that can recreate the studio sound on stage well. SD does this better than anyone else."

” I cannot think of a time that I was ever disappointed by a Steely Dan show, and this concert was no different. From the minute they took the stage right on up until they left it (almost two hours later) we were presented with excellent music performed to perfection with some stories thrown in for good measure."

"Always a MUST SEE when Steely Dan comes to town! Each song was performed superbly by top-notch musicians. Every member of the band was featured. It was hit after hit, classic after classic."

Steely Dan Put on Such A Show!

by Zygzyg2 on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

We were thrilled with the venue, our seats, the opening band (Dave Stryker Trio) and of course the main event. Donald Fagen sounded as good as he did in the ‘70’s and the band and vocalists were absolutely amazing! The show went on with no intermission and we were not in the least bit disappointed! Every song was better than the last!

    Awesome Show

    by N. B. on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

The Steely Dan show was a superb experience. The employees of the Bridgeport Amphitheater are professional and cordial (even funny). The show itself surpassed my expectations. When Donald Fagen opened his mouth I expected him to have a voice that would be showing some age. He actually still sounds every bit as good as he did in the 70's. This was the second time I have attended a show at the amphitheater and it's a great venue. Good to see the former baseball stadium put to good use.

    Terrible sound

by Zingie on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

First time seeing Stely Dan along with first time at Hartford health arena. Don’t know if it was the venue or just bad mixing. Vocals were drowned out by the music. Really couldn’t understand a word Fagan was saying or singing. Band seemed a bit leaky and not tight which surprised me see how Fagan is such a perfectionist.

Perfect weather at the amphitheater for a living legend in Donald Fagen and Steely Dan. The sound was amazing. The audience was great. Again, the venue is gorgeous, so any show is a treat.

    Sound needs improvement

by JB2 on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

The band was really good but, the sound left much to be desired. It definitely wasn’t loud enough and was not clear at all, very muddy and echoey. Also, the venue closed the bars a half hour after they started.

What stage? All we see is handrail!

by Carol on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Seats were very disappointing, before we purchased we got a birdseye view of the stage from our seats but what it didn't show us was a handrail literally at eyes level to the stage blocking our ENTIRE view, no way to see the stage but to slouch down in our seats! We were VERY disappointed!

    Worth the drive

by Zolz on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Blown away by the facility (first time there) So fan friendly, plenty of room, clean and the most point of service stations I've seen - The band was great but not sure if it was the acoustics or the sound guy but that was sketchy

    Great concert, mediocre seats

by AmyJ on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Great concert, mediocre seats. The concert was fabulous, Steely Dan was amazing put on a great shell. This is my fourth concert at Hartford healthcare amphitheater. I have sat in seats on the floor, on level 200 and level 300 and I have to say that many of the seats have obstructed views, Which is disappointing and you really have no way of knowing it until you show up to the concert. Otherwise, the venue still has that new feel, the bathrooms are awesome and I have to admit it’s kind of cool to sit in your little music oasis while the train is passing on the right and trucks are passing on the highway to the left.

    Reelin’ In The Years!

by Rickfic on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Steely Dan never disappoints! The quality of the musicians is always outstanding. Their drummer Keith Carlock was perfect, especially on the drum solos in Aja!

by Jim s on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

even though I like his music the Concert started late and it was hot outside and the air wasn't moving . His playlist was not in rhythm to keep the crowd going strong . he would play one good song then play stuff you never heard of before.( you know the type ). and steely Dan won't let you take a photo or video of the concert . Please get over yourselves ! not fun at this concert .

    Don't Miss

by Skeeter on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Donald Fagan has the charisma, talent and musicianship to still command a show and get the crowd on its feet. His band is phenomenal and proved to be a force. The drummer is amazing!

    The Absolutely Normal Tour

by Bethy on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

The Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater is a great venue and they do everything to ensure a comfortable customer experience. Having said that I have two comments regarding this most recent show. The instrumentals were terrific but the vocals were quite distorted, at least from where we were sitting which was center aisle on the floor. I had read this comment on a thread from attendees of other shows so I wasn't surprised but it was disappointing nonetheless. Also, during the performance one of the venue security personnel was carrying on a rather loud conversation with another staff member to the point of being extremely distracting. Please be more mindful of the fact that ticket holders are there to hear the musicians and not a dialogue of how many times you've seen a band, yada yada yada!!

    Steely Dan Bridgeport, CT

by Don on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Had the cheap seats but they were very good. Great venue and great show. Would pay money to see any of the band members by themselves. The drumming was unforgettable, especially on AJA. My fourth concert at Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater. The acoustics there are not great.

    Steely Dan concert

by Honestlee on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Steely Dan was outstanding. The venue was terrible. Seats on floor are not built for humans. The acoustics were so so. I will not return to Hartford Heathcare Ampitheater. Very uncomfortable for most people.

    Steely Dan

by Shemp Howard on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

It was an absolutely awesome concert. What a great venue! Although it was a hot and steamy night, it was nice and cool inside, I don't know how they did it! There was plenty of food and drink stands around, and the Aesthetics and acoustics of the venue we're second to none! I would definitely recommend it, and go to another concert there myself!

    It was a terrific concert

by Denny on 8/10/22Borgata Event Center - Atlantic City

Great band and backup singers, great mix of Steely Dan songs, before Donald Fagan came on stage the band played one instrumental that sounded almost like a Count Basie big band, and Donald Fagan seemed very personable, just an enjoyable experience

    Almost great

by PAC on 8/10/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

The concert was good over all. A few things disappointed me. Two of the best songs were not played, Do it Again and Rikki Don’t Lose That Number. Also, Fagan did not sing Dirty Work. The backup singers were great, but it wasn’t the same.
