STEELY DAN IN CONCERT:
Steely Dan is responsible for some of the most complex, finely crafted classic rock of the 20th century, and they continue to deliver on tour more than 40 years after their debut. Core members Walter Becker and Donald Fagen are legendary for their musicianship, and they only surround themselves with the finest players, making for studio-perfect live renditions of their virtuosic compositions. Whether fans are out to wax nostalgic with "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" or sway in the breeze of "Hey Nineteen," Steely Dan never fails to deliver amaze, with another hit-filled tour planed for summer 2014.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Walter Becker and Donald Fagen met in the late '60s at Bard College in Upstate New York, writing songs together for several years before officially forming Steely Dan and releasing their first single "Dallas" in 1972. While the single sold poorly, their debut album Can't Buy a Thrill was released later that year to considerable critical and commercial success, landing the band their first hits with "Do It Again" and "Reelin' in the Years." They continued to climb the charts throughout the decade, reaching their peak position in 1977 with Aja, a No. 3 hit widely regarded as a seminal album of the classic rock era. Amid rumors of a return to the studio, the band will hit the road in 2014 for an extensive summer tour.

Donald Fagen and the band put on an awesome show. Played all of the Royal Scam and then great songs from Aja and Guacho. Fagen's voice is as good as ever. The music sounds as good now as it did back in the 70s. If you can go - definitely see them play - such a great band.
Great venue. The seats need refurbishing. Concert was Entertaining.
Music, visuals, back ups were terrific . Donal Fagen is an outstanding performer with a great band . Great energy !!
An evening with the greatest Rock Jazz Band. Donald Fagen last concert tour night was one of the greatest experiences we have had in a long time. The music lineup was short and sweet with a reminiscent memorable reeling in the years finally. My wife and I were left with a heartfelt awe that will last our lifetime. Definitely a world class act.
So sad I missed my last chance to see Steely Dan complete with Walter Becker when they last came to Ct. I jumped at the chance to see Donald Fagen perform some of the greatest memories of my youth. Glad that Donald shared some of his solo work in addition. I was not disappointed by any of the concert. I had seen the playlist from the tour and I had hoped beyond hope for "Black Cow" or "Deacon Blues" but then again I was so delighted for the great show!
The Capital Theater is an amazing venue to see a live concert . Steely Dan , not so much ! Sleepy concert without their popular songs and not much energy from the band members ( of which only one was from the original ). Donât waste your time and money
Donald and his band never fail to deliver. Astonishing musicianship . One highlight after another throughout a night of some of Becker and Faginâs best creations .
Fantastic. They still got it. Gets better every year. Wish they played longer shows but Iâll take what I can get.
Mostly played all their popular songs. The one they didn't play was Rickie don't Lose that Number.
Steely Dan sounded the same as my records but the show, lights , musician solos made it even a greater experience!!!

Steely Dan have always been a favorite of ours 40+ years. But to see them live was far better than we could have imagined. Definitely will see them again if they come to Connecticut/New York area. Capital venue was great. So convenient to us.
Smooth. Groovy. Phenomenal. SD played the entire Aja album in order which was a rare treat plus played hits from their other albums. Fagen and his bandmates were at their best. Aja drum solo at the end was amazing! A truly magical night. I canât wait for their next one!
I'd always wanted to visit The Capitol Theatre, knowing it had hosted so many amazing acts through its many years of operation. You could almost feel the presence of the ghosts of musical and theatrical royalty! I've been listening to Steely Dan for 50 years and have heard most of their songs hundreds of times on radio, records and video. Still, there's nothing so great as hearing them live! The band was so tight and polished. The overall performance and individual soloes were first rate. The light show added to the overall deliciousness of the whole evening. Most of the time, when I go to a concert, my mind drifts to concerns about getting out in time to beat the traffic home. But with Steely Dan, I wished they'd played even longer than they did. And I could not have cared less about traffic! As I said to the Usher as I was leaving, "Tonight is one of those nights that makes me grateful to be alive!"
The current Steely Dan tour is focusing on an album at each performance. Not realizing this I pick the Aja night, which was perfect for me. My roommate of oh so many years ago played this album over and over. The concert brought back great memories. Donald Fagan and the band were at their best. If you have the opportunity, GO!
It was so good Wednesday night, Iâm going back tonight. From opening act to last Steely Dan song it was wonderful.
Fantastic show! Donald Fagen has still got it and the rest of the band is ON POINT! If you've never seen a show at the Capitol Theater, just do it. Great venue and great show with one of the best bands ever.
Under two hours of Steely Dan hits played by a talented group of mysicians! I would highly recommend going to this show!
I was disappointed in the Steely Dan concert that was played in Jacksonville, Florida. I've seen Donald Fagen at least 6 times. With Steely Dan, with the Nightflys, and a few other concerts. On the night of 7/20/22, in Jacksonville, Florida - his voice was shot. He could barely sing. The backup singers carried the load. I waited 2 years to see this show - and was totally let down.
Steely Dan's drummer was amazing. The Hartford Health Ampitheater is a great concert facility. $15.50 for a beer is a bit over the top.
