Star Wars in Concert was incredible!

    by Debbie531 on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

Being a long time, hard-core Star Wars fan, I knew this was something I couldn't miss! Got my tickets months ago, and took my son, also a huge fan. The show was nothing less then amazing, the orchestra was outstanding, and Anthony Daniels narrating through the show, as the story progresses, was brilliant. I have met Mr. Daniels several times, and he is always gracious and kind. It's not a mish-mash of scenes, it is a movie, using scenes from all the movies intertwined to tell this story. The only BAD part about it was NOT the show...it was the seats! This was at a "normally is a hockey venue" facility and the seats were awful! Low and small, arm rests that didn't move, so you got stuck frequently. And, if you had long legs, forget it, they were part of the seat in front of you! The conductor, Mr. Daniels, and the orchestra, received 4 curtain calls from the audience...we just wouldn't let them leave. All in all, it was a very well planned show, and I'm glad I endured the seats to see it.

    Not what I expected

by Pattimey on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

I went to ComiCon 09 where I first heard about this concert and couldn't wait for it! We went to the first show in the U.S. at Anaheim in the Honda Center and to be honest, was a bit disappointed. The movie props and costumes were displayed inside the arena but the halls were narrow so the crowds of people made it difficult to walk through. I also expected to see more movie stuff, they had maybe about 8 costumes and even less props. The concert itself was great. There were some really cool visual effects and to hear the symphony live while watching scenes from all six movies on a large screen (c'mon lucas, you could have made it a bigger screen) made the experience all worth it. If you are a fan, you will truly appreciate this event!

Star Wars in Concert was fabulous!

    by BBFan2 on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

The orchestra was flawless, and the way the images from the films and the music were arranged together was seamless. We really liked Anthony Daniels as the host, and seeing all the costumes and memorabilia!

It's like reliving the original experience

by Agrajag on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

The opening fanfare really sets the mood for this extravaganza. The constant smile on my face explained it all - Remembering those days as a kid when I went to the movies to watch the original Star Wars for the 15th time. The expo was interesting to see if you can deal with the hordes of people mingling around each exhibit - I recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds. The show starts abruptly, so make sure you are in your seat at show time - You do not want to miss the opening. Watching this master piece performed live is an event for the whole family - However, I don't think it's suitable for children under the age of 7 - I watched several children lose interest very quickly, especially when the music stopped - This event is for fans of the film and for people that really appreciate incredible music. Great job...

Not as creative as the movies

by spoonsla on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

I think Star Wars in concert failed slightly in its marketing campaign. It was presented as an interactive effects laden live concert performance with narration. The orchestra was fantastic, and large, which is always a bonus. The chorus was underutilized and buried in the back under poor lighting and a stage trellis. The stage, while kind of space age looking, didn't really enhance the performance nor did the lighting fixtures peppered about the stage. They do provide some cool lighting effects along the outer edge of the screen, but overall I think they have some work to do in making this a much more creative presentation. The re-edited footage becomes repetitive, is oddly silent for most of the concert, which is meant to focus things on the orchestra, but if the movie is playing behind it you aren't looking at them anyway in this format. Anthony Daniels commits to the narration, but it serves to simply summarize the thematic arcs of the movies and the plot, which everyone knows already. It's written as if these are historical events, not entertainment, and gives it a hoakey air. Some more behind the scenes the information and technical information would make it more interesting. The flames, mist and lasers are a nice touch, but they are a Johnny One Note in that they are set up to do one thing and lose their effectiveness once used. In short, the music is great. The displays are beautiful and there are some great photo opportunities for kids and parents. It's always fun to see your favorite scenes, but for my money again, I'd go to the Hollywood Bowl and see the John Williams concert. This concert would be great bonus DVD material in the 6 movie set.

Star wars in concert !!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by garza on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

This was the best concert I have ever seen. The way the music with the movie dialouge was exceptional. Anthony Daniels was a great narrator. It gave me chills the way they set up the chapters and combined it with a character to explain their story. Great experience would love to see on dvd

    remarkable evening

    by id4das on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

For it just being an event listening to the sound track of a set of movies one would think so what? It was far more than just that. Even if you were not a star wars die hard fan they did a fantastic job making an event with big screen segments of the movies laser show and special effects to keep anyone entertained. Howvever if you are a fan this is something not to miss. Dont miss it

    Explosive!

    by paupower32 on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

Nothing compares to hearing the classic Star Wars music live. It doesn't matter how much technology has advanced, no sound system can do John William's masterpieces justice the way listening to them being performed by a symphony does. It truly shows what a master John Williams is. Add the giant screen and the special light and pyrotechnic effects! Real fire coming out during the Anakin-Obi Wan duel on Mustafar. Wow!

    Great music

    by Ashleigh1981 on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

The music was great, and even from the top section of the Honda Center we could see just fine. It would have been nice if the video section of the concert were a bit more organized, though. There seemed to be themes, but it would have been nice if those themes were displayed chronologically or something. Other than that, we really enjoyed the show.

    Very enjoyable!

by thrawnis on 10/2/09Honda Center - Anaheim

The event was great, the orchestra was excellent, the venue was so-so (Honda Center in Anaheim, CA). The music and video were excellently timed and made for a very entertaining show. Anthony Daniels as the storyteller was a good idea. The only real problem is that the view of the stage was partially obstructed by large, overhanging speakers. This blocked a large part of the view of the movie screen and orchestra for much of the audience towards the back and sides of the building.
