ST. PAUL AND THE BROKEN BONES IN CONCERT:

St. Paul and the Broken Bones bring a youthful enthusiasm to their flashback sound, reviving Southern soul right down to the matching suits each band member wears. Lead singer Paul Janeway tears through each song with unbridled passion, swaying to the rhythm as he skillfully navigates each crescendo and vocal trill. The band adds smooth basslines, banging drums, and blaring horns to breathe life into each soulful serenade and rocking rhythm. Ticket buyers won’t be able to resist each classic style this sextet plays, from pumped-up dancefloor anthems like “Call Me” to gracefully building gospel ballads such as “Like a Mighty River”. Anyone with a funky bone in their body will dig the old school vibes and undeniable grooves of St. Paul and the Broken Bones in concert.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Paul Janeway was studying to become an accountant in 2012, having finally resigned to “make something of himself” when soul music called his name. Rekindling a few old connections, he started St. Paul and the Broken Bones with several Birmingham, AL musicians. The first time they played together was to record a four song EP in 2013, forming an immediate and undeniable chemistry in the studio. After signing with Single Lock Records, the group released their critically praised debut Half the City. The album caught the attention of The Rolling Stones, who hired the soulful sextet to open for them on their 2015 Zip Codes Tour. While they work on their second full-length album, St. Paul and the Broken Bones continue to use their winning blend of gospel and soul to electrify audiences who can’t get enough.

    St Payl - Weird Fun!

by OA on 2/27/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Didn’t know what to expect, took a chance on some tickets. Listened to a bunch of St. Paul songs on iTunes, and really liked the Reverend Al/Terence Trent / oldie, Soul-Funk vibe. The show surpassed our expectations, a great voice, he’s got. Really liked the musicians, they were talented all of them, and they sounded solid together. The horn section was right on, not overpowering, and really brought it home with the drums and keyboards. A packed house, a good beer, and a fun time, overall. Would love to see them again, some other time.

by Scott P. on 2/27/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

What a show! Just a spectacular display of vocal and instrumental talent dripping in hot sauce and wrapped up in a sequined James Brown robe. Cheers to Paul and the band for creating an amazing experience. I'll be taking the opportunity to see them again!

    Face Melter

by monicaefarren on 2/27/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

I feel true sorrow and pity for anyone not experiencing this band. The 8 of them come out on the stage in their suits and they absolutely ooze talent soul from the first note. Paul sings from the bottom of his feet, and it seems like he has no choice but to let the music out of him. It doesn’t seem difficult. It seems natural and effortless. It seems essential that he sing. It seems as though the music is trapped inside him and it’s less work just to let it out than hold it in. This band and their music provide such an emotional experience and I just feel lucky to have been a part of it.

This was my first visit to the venue. I will def return. The vibe was cool and laid back. I love the smaller setting so that you can feel like you are actually a part of the experience and not watching from afar. The sound and the lighting was spectacular. The band was FANTASTIC! We are def 2 new fans of St Paul and The Broken Bones!

Had zero expectations coming into the show. I hadn’t listened to them but was wanting to see a show on a Friday night. I was thrilled when the brass fired up and the funk started to flow. I definitely recommend St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Enjoy!

    Alabama Awesome SP & BB

by Chezmanspeedo on 11/18/23Moore Theatre - Seattle

This year I've seen U2 opening night at the Sphere, Eddie Vedder solo, The National twice, The Lumineers but Saint Paul and the Broken Bones killed them all. All virtuoso players, tight with amazing sound and fantastic solos. Paul Janeway's vocals and stage games were fantastic. The most fun at a show in years. I saw them last time they were in Seattle. They destroyed that show. Soul baby!

St. P & da BBs were worth every penny!

by Eli S on 11/14/23The Bellwether - Los Angeles

St. Paul and the Broken Bones were amazing. The vocals and instruments were all on point. St. Paul sang with his entire heart and soul. He left nothing on the stage. I came from 1 hour away and thought it was well worth it! One of the best concerts I've been to in the past few years. The venue food was a bit expensive but it was to be expected in DTLA.

    A must see show.

by hailey on 11/13/23The Bellwether - Los Angeles

I've been trying to see St. Paul and the Broken Bones for 10 years now, and they did not disappoint. Paul Janeway voice is other worldly, stopping you in your tracks as the chills run through your body. Your eyes might well. Each bandmate is incredible and integral. 10/10. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed the shows that Maggie Rose and St Paul and the Broken Bones put together. It has been a while since we have went to a live music venue and this show was very memorable. The venue was very accommodating and the staff was very pleasant, we will definitely be back here.

    So Damn Good!

by LMinHB on 11/13/23The Bellwether - Los Angeles

There is truly something special about this band and their music - it's just on a different - upper level rising above so much "fluff' of what is out there now. Style, substance, character, heart and soul and just plain fun. I hope to see them again and again. Maggie Rose is a force to be reckoned with an I'll be seeing her as a headliner soon, no doubt. Not sure what it is about concert venues, but the lack of healthy food and seeing the same thing over and over from LA to OC and beyond is getting boring. Please come up with something good for all to spend our money on - we will. Is there no way to regulate rudeness and inconsideration at GA events for those wearing the biggest cowboy hat possible who block dozens of people behind them? Lots of places regulate what people can and cannot wear. This was not a county event. Bad enough that short people have to navigate all the 6-footers, but cowboy hats too? :-(

    Incredible Performance

by DKStro on 11/13/23The Bellwether - Los Angeles

St Paul and the Broken Bones slways come to play and this show was no exception. They know how to connect with the audience and gave us their all. The set list contained all their upbeat hits mixed with new material and at least one nostalgic cover song. The sound was crisp and tight.
