About

For many artists, a meteoric rise can often mean a sudden plateau. However, for 2X Grammy-nominated progressive heavy metal mainstays Spiritbox, there appears to be no end in sight on their near-constant ascent to the top. Formed in 2017 in the picturesque yet isolated region of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, by vocalist Courtney Laplante and guitarist Mike Stringer, Spiritbox would fully cement themselves as a household name in the summer of 2020 with the release of their blistering breakout single "Holy Roller," along with a host of other captivating singles shortly after, resulting in critical and commercial acclaim.

With new and existing fans eagerly watching their next move, Spiritbox, which also consists of drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert, exceeded every expectation imaginable in 2021 with the release of their genre-defining debut studio album Eternal Blue via Pale Chord/Rise Records. Eternal Blue, which debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, kicked open the doors of the heavy metal scene and rewrote the genre's playbook with 12 stunning tracks including the smash single, "Circle With Me."

Following a whirlwind touring cycle for Eternal Blue and the experimental 2022 Rotoscope EP, Spiritbox wrote and recorded their critically acclaimed EP, The Fear of Fear, released in November 2023. The EP featured the lead single "Jaded," which was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Exactly one year later, Spiritbox were nominated for a Grammy once again in the Best Metal Performance category, this time for the unapologetically heavy The Fear of Fear track  "Cellar Door," which also inspired celebrated folk/doom metal artist Chelsea Wolfe to cover the song in stripped-down fashion on her latest EP, Unbound. With two Grammy nominations under their belt, Spiritbox have solidified their status as one of the most influential acts in modern metal today.

For fans patiently waiting for new music, Spiritbox satiated the demand this past September with the incendiary single "Soft Spine." The pummeling track took the band's signature visceral sound and dialed it up to eleven in terms of intensity and musicality to rave reviews. In October, the band also shared their most recent collaboration "TYG," with iconic rapper Megan Thee Stallion, with whom the band worked on last year's fan favorite remix of the song "Cobra."

After months of online speculation and rumors of a long-awaited new studio album, Spiritbox announced their brand new sophomore LP, Tsunami Sea. Produced by longtime collaborator Dan Braunstein, along with Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer, Tsunami Sea is undoubtedly the band's most vulnerable and introspective release to date and the 11 track album finds the group not only returning to their roots but venturing into new waters as well at full steam. Along with the announcement of Tsunami Sea, Spiritbox shared the anthemic and melodically-driven new single "Perfect Soul" and just a few months later they released one of the heaviest tracks of their career with "No Loss, No Love" -- further showcasing the band's ability to juxtapose beauty and aggression seamlessly.

Tsunami Sea finally arrived on March 7th via Pale Chord/Rise Records BMG, and much like the title suggests, it caused a tidal wave of exciting new milestones in Spiritbox's career--debuting at #26 in the US on the Billboard Top 200 charts, as well as #1 on the US Current Hard Music charts. Always a strong global presence, Spiritbox also cracked the top 20 of the UK charts, scoring a #17 placement overall, #1 on the UK Indie Charts, and #12 on the Top German Album charts--along with a #1 spot on the Top Canadian Hard Music Chart.

With each release, Spiritbox continues to carve out a legacy defined not just by numbers, but by fearless reinvention, genre-defying ambition, and an unwavering connection to their ever-growing global audience.

  • Amazing!

by Jade on 5/5/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve wanted to see spiritbox for a really long time, and I finally got to! Spiritbox and the opening bands After The Burial and Intervals put on an amazing show.

  • Cannot recommend Spirit Box Enough!

by Alex on 5/5/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Ironically enough, my dad introduced me to Courtney and Spirit Box last summer when I went to visit. He was incredibly shocked that I enjoyed the music. Lately, I've been dealing with a lot and going through a hard time, and Spirit Box is one of the bands to get me through it. Their performance was amazing, breathtaking, and captivating. The Intervals did an amazing job in their opening performance. The only thing I can say is I wasn't too terribly excited when After the Burial performed. I felt the music drowned out the singer, but I will still keep my five star review because everything was pheonominal!

  • Eternal Blue Tour

by lea on 5/5/23House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Spiritbox is a must see live. Courtney’s vocals, and stage presence were truly captivating. The band, production and set design were amazing as well. I’ve seen recordings from that night and not one did justice to how insanely good this show was. I look forward to seeing them again!

  • Absolutely amazing.

Money well spent!! All three bands killed their performances. Courtney was such a character as well, can’t wait to see them again if given the chance :)

  • ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!

  • Excellence

by Joeylovesmabel on 5/3/23Irving Plaza - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The band was amazing, both nights. The staff was also amazing. Mabel has her foot in a boot and had a knee scooter and they were very nice and accomodating. Gave her a nice viewing spot on the balcony. Louis and the female head of security, sorry didnt get her name went above and beyond. Thank you.

  • Phenomenal

Dope venue. Dope bands. Would absolutely do it again, despite being DRENCHED the whole show from the rain before doors opened.

  • Spiritbox

by Jay on 5/2/23Citizens House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

The bands were outstanding. I wish I could say the same about the venue. The security guards took my lighter at the door. I have never run into this problem before and it seems a bit ridiculous to me. I had seats in the upper mezzanine. It was so crowded that there was not a clear view of the stage anywhere.

  • Okay…

by Aswift on 5/2/23Citizens House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

It sounded great! However the tv monitors in the venue were too dark to watch the show all you could see was minor detailing and silhouettes of the artist. There was no where to really see them where I was for the amount of people there since it was sold out. There wasn’t a lot of merch to view either on the second floor to even remotely think about buying anything and last thing I want traveling far away is waiting til the show is over to go downstairs with the crowd to try to find something.

  • Nailed it!

Outstanding show. Performed songs accurately and beautifully. Much enjoyed.

  • Spiritbox excellence

by dbSomething photography on 5/2/23Citizens House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Blues in Boston was an incredible experience. The band's energy and passion were infectious, and the crowd was completely engaged. The setlist was perfectly curated, with a mix of old and new songs, and the band sounded absolutely amazing live. Courtney LaPlante's vocals were haunting and beautiful, and the rest of the band backed her up perfectly. The visuals were also stunning, with intricate projections and lighting effects that perfectly complemented the music. Overall, it was an unforgettable show that I would highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of Spiritbox or heavy music in general.

  • Crushed it

by Tom W on 5/2/23Citizens House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, great bands, great crowd, great environment. Would've loved to have the Foundation room available, but it happens. Will definitely see all these bands again, and recommend the venue.

  • Better in Person

by Nick on 5/2/23Citizens House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The energy that Spiritbox brought to the venue was something I rarely ever see. All of the performers had such an amazing presence on the stage. The quality of their live sound makes you realize just how truly talented this band is.

  • Absolutely wild show

by KP on 5/1/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 5 out of 5

Spiritbox was absolutely incredible and engaging with the crowd. The crowd went /ham/ with crowd surfers. Courtney and the boys are amazing.

  • Amazing Show

by Averham30 on 5/1/23House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Spiritbox’s stage setup was one of the best from a metal show I’ve ever seen. Intervals & After the Burial had amazing performances as well. The only thing I dislike is the venue itself, the House of Blues in Orlando has a poor setup with 2 sets of stairs on the first level. Smaller general standing than it should be.

  • Fantastic

by Jake on 5/1/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 5 out of 5

So I didn't actually go to this most recent concert on 4/28, the inclement weather had me concerned honestly. But! I saw them last year at the same venue and they sounded amazing, easily my favorite newer metal acts and they are absolutely worth experiencing live.

  • Great

Spiritbox sounds amazing live. I was very impressed and would definitely buy tickets to see them again

  • Spiritbox

by AuDHDGhoulette on 4/30/23House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Spiritbox was awesome, seemed like HOB had some sound issues not no fault of the bands. The 2 openers, Intervals and After the Burial were new to me and both engaging and enjoyable. The vibe in the venue was pumping. Very cool crowd. The venue leaves a lot to be desired. It’s oversold, dirty and merch purchasing was ridiculous. The staff was friendly and helpful however.

  • Loved the show but wish Spiritbox played a longer set

by Ava y Enzo on 4/29/23House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the entire show. Intervals played an amazing set as usual- albeit they played for a long-long time and the show had already started late. After the Burial played a great set and had a great, very experienced stage presence. The last time I saw Spiritbox was when they played with Ghost and they weren't headlining so their set wasn't as long so I really appreciated that they're headlining this tour so they got the opportunity to really get a good setlist in. BTW the food at HOB Orlando was really good and they have an amazing staff. If you're not familiar with Spiritbox, you should be. Otherwise. you're missing out.

  • So worth the wait

by Minibit on 4/29/23House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I discovered Spiritbox during the pandemic and was dying to see them live. They put on an amazing show, I was honestly blown away and was too caught up in the experience to record on my phone. Can’t wait to catch them again!
