For many artists, a meteoric rise can often mean a sudden plateau. However, for 2X Grammy-nominated progressive heavy metal mainstays Spiritbox, there appears to be no end in sight on their near-constant ascent to the top. Formed in 2017 in the picturesque yet isolated region of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, by vocalist Courtney Laplante and guitarist Mike Stringer, Spiritbox would fully cement themselves as a household name in the summer of 2020 with the release of their blistering breakout single "Holy Roller," along with a host of other captivating singles shortly after, resulting in critical and commercial acclaim.
With new and existing fans eagerly watching their next move, Spiritbox, which also consists of drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert, exceeded every expectation imaginable in 2021 with the release of their genre-defining debut studio album Eternal Blue via Pale Chord/Rise Records. Eternal Blue, which debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, kicked open the doors of the heavy metal scene and rewrote the genre's playbook with 12 stunning tracks including the smash single, "Circle With Me."
Following a whirlwind touring cycle for Eternal Blue and the experimental 2022 Rotoscope EP, Spiritbox wrote and recorded their critically acclaimed EP, The Fear of Fear, released in November 2023. The EP featured the lead single "Jaded," which was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Exactly one year later, Spiritbox were nominated for a Grammy once again in the Best Metal Performance category, this time for the unapologetically heavy The Fear of Fear trackĀ "Cellar Door," which also inspired celebrated folk/doom metal artist Chelsea Wolfe to cover the song in stripped-down fashion on her latest EP, Unbound. With two Grammy nominations under their belt, Spiritbox have solidified their status as one of the most influential acts in modern metal today.
For fans patiently waiting for new music, Spiritbox satiated the demand this past September with the incendiary single "Soft Spine." The pummeling track took the band's signature visceral sound and dialed it up to eleven in terms of intensity and musicality to rave reviews. In October, the band also shared their most recent collaboration "TYG," with iconic rapper Megan Thee Stallion, with whom the band worked on last year's fan favorite remix of the song "Cobra."
After months of online speculation and rumors of a long-awaited new studio album, Spiritbox announced their brand new sophomore LP, Tsunami Sea. Produced by longtime collaborator Dan Braunstein, along with Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer, Tsunami Sea is undoubtedly the band's most vulnerable and introspective release to date and the 11 track album finds the group not only returning to their roots but venturing into new waters as well at full steam. Along with the announcement of Tsunami Sea, Spiritbox shared the anthemic and melodically-driven new single "Perfect Soul" and just a few months later they released one of the heaviest tracks of their career with "No Loss, No Love" -- further showcasing the band's ability to juxtapose beauty and aggression seamlessly.
Tsunami Sea finally arrived on March 7th via Pale Chord/Rise Records BMG, and much like the title suggests, it caused a tidal wave of exciting new milestones in Spiritbox's career--debuting at #26 in the US on the Billboard Top 200 charts, as well as #1 on the US Current Hard Music charts. Always a strong global presence, Spiritbox also cracked the top 20 of the UK charts, scoring a #17 placement overall, #1 on the UK Indie Charts, and #12 on the Top German Album charts--along with a #1 spot on the Top Canadian Hard Music Chart.
With each release, Spiritbox continues to carve out a legacy defined not just by numbers, but by fearless reinvention, genre-defying ambition, and an unwavering connection to their ever-growing global audience.
I was so excited when the tickets went on sale and was even happier the day of. The concert was amazing and Spiritbox put on an amazing show.
The stage show was excellent from the beginning, with the clever use of a thin sheet to project images and words. The whole band has a fabulous stage presence that draws you in. Highly recommend it if you are a fan of the band.
One of the best shows if not the best I've seen. Spiritbox is a can miss band. The Observatory was a cool venue but the theater entrance being at the back off the street was a bit confusing.
Both the venue (Ace of Spades) and the bands killed it!
This was my second time seeing Spiritbox and Intervals. Fifth time After The Burial. Great line-up and sets. Would definitely go see all three of these bands again.
I really like Ace Of Spades (Sacramento). Everything was awesome save for one thing -when Spiritbox (the headliners) went in, the sound went south. WAY south. I'm not mad,. because I still got to see them, but I was looking forward to Courtney's talent in person, and as it went,.you could barely hear her... Oh,.well. At least I've been there,.done that and did, indeed, get the Tshirt. š All in all, a good time.
This show was everything I waited for. If the tour wasnāt sold out, Iād be flying to their next tour stop to see them again. Seattle loves you! Come see us again soon <3
I went to the Spiritbox, Mastodon and Ghost concert in Bangor Maine. It was absolutely amazing! Spiritbox opened and they only did a couple songs but were so good! I wish they were the headline! Ghost was ridiculously good though!
had a great time. venue size was excellent; could see and hear the bands well. pit was good; people helped each other up. two guys were windmilling and hitting people pretty much the whole time, that got kind of annoying.
They played an amazing show and canāt wait for them to headline another show. Will definitely be there.
It was a really fun experience; they perform really well live. The crowd went crazy since the moment they started and that energy continued till the end of the night. SpiritBox is one of those bands you have to see live.
It was one of the best shows Iāve ever been to! It was super organized and well thought out! Also Spiritbox was the major highlight of the night š¤š»āŗļø
Spiritbox was amazing, audio sounded great, House of Blues has a great atmosphere. Spiritbox blew everyone away. Loved every second of it.
Spiritbox opened for Underoath on the "Voyeurist" tour. Bad Omens and Stray From The Path were there too. Spiritbox was the MVP that night. I didn't even stay for the rest of the show. Truthfully, I was never a big Underoath fan anyways.
Spiritbox is the live experience you've been looking for
Seen them at Rockville 2021 and itās probably the best performance Iāve ever seen! Definitely worth it
