About

For many artists, a meteoric rise can often mean a sudden plateau. However, for 2X Grammy-nominated progressive heavy metal mainstays Spiritbox, there appears to be no end in sight on their near-constant ascent to the top. Formed in 2017 in the picturesque yet isolated region of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, by vocalist Courtney Laplante and guitarist Mike Stringer, Spiritbox would fully cement themselves as a household name in the summer of 2020 with the release of their blistering breakout single "Holy Roller," along with a host of other captivating singles shortly after, resulting in critical and commercial acclaim.

With new and existing fans eagerly watching their next move, Spiritbox, which also consists of drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert, exceeded every expectation imaginable in 2021 with the release of their genre-defining debut studio album Eternal Blue via Pale Chord/Rise Records. Eternal Blue, which debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, kicked open the doors of the heavy metal scene and rewrote the genre's playbook with 12 stunning tracks including the smash single, "Circle With Me."

Following a whirlwind touring cycle for Eternal Blue and the experimental 2022 Rotoscope EP, Spiritbox wrote and recorded their critically acclaimed EP, The Fear of Fear, released in November 2023. The EP featured the lead single "Jaded," which was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Exactly one year later, Spiritbox were nominated for a Grammy once again in the Best Metal Performance category, this time for the unapologetically heavy The Fear of Fear track  "Cellar Door," which also inspired celebrated folk/doom metal artist Chelsea Wolfe to cover the song in stripped-down fashion on her latest EP, Unbound. With two Grammy nominations under their belt, Spiritbox have solidified their status as one of the most influential acts in modern metal today.

For fans patiently waiting for new music, Spiritbox satiated the demand this past September with the incendiary single "Soft Spine." The pummeling track took the band's signature visceral sound and dialed it up to eleven in terms of intensity and musicality to rave reviews. In October, the band also shared their most recent collaboration "TYG," with iconic rapper Megan Thee Stallion, with whom the band worked on last year's fan favorite remix of the song "Cobra."

After months of online speculation and rumors of a long-awaited new studio album, Spiritbox announced their brand new sophomore LP, Tsunami Sea. Produced by longtime collaborator Dan Braunstein, along with Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer, Tsunami Sea is undoubtedly the band's most vulnerable and introspective release to date and the 11 track album finds the group not only returning to their roots but venturing into new waters as well at full steam. Along with the announcement of Tsunami Sea, Spiritbox shared the anthemic and melodically-driven new single "Perfect Soul" and just a few months later they released one of the heaviest tracks of their career with "No Loss, No Love" -- further showcasing the band's ability to juxtapose beauty and aggression seamlessly.

Tsunami Sea finally arrived on March 7th via Pale Chord/Rise Records BMG, and much like the title suggests, it caused a tidal wave of exciting new milestones in Spiritbox's career--debuting at #26 in the US on the Billboard Top 200 charts, as well as #1 on the US Current Hard Music charts. Always a strong global presence, Spiritbox also cracked the top 20 of the UK charts, scoring a #17 placement overall, #1 on the UK Indie Charts, and #12 on the Top German Album charts--along with a #1 spot on the Top Canadian Hard Music Chart.

With each release, Spiritbox continues to carve out a legacy defined not just by numbers, but by fearless reinvention, genre-defying ambition, and an unwavering connection to their ever-growing global audience.

  • Great show!!

by Emily on 4/29/23House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

I had a wonderful time at this show. I just wish it wasn’t as oversold as it was. This is the second time I have passed out (or nearly passed out) at a show at House of Blues Orlando. But other than that the show was great and I would go back to the venue again!!

  • Spiritbox Eternal Blue Tour

by Mike T on 4/29/23House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

From start to finish, this was a PHENOMENAL show. The opener (Intervals), who I’ve seen before played great as always. Hadn’t seen After the Burial until the show and they had a very solid sound and had great interaction with the audience. Then- the group we’d all been waiting for. I was able to sneak around to the outer edge of the pit since this was a VERY tight sold out show! The scrim, the lights, the energy from the band was gear 12 right out of the gate. And Courtney knows how to work the crowd. Without a doubt the BEST HOB show I’ve been to since 2015. Also digging the new sound system!

  • Spectacular from start to finish

by DanAvocado on 4/29/23House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Everything was awesome from start to finish. House of blues orlando. Intervals the first band, was great, very entertaining. Instrumental, mathy prog. After the burial, the second band, was extreme metal in the vein of messhugah, great band. Also very entertaining. Spiritbox was perfect. The show had amazing production and visuals. The crowd was awesome! One of the best concerts i have been to.

Worth every penny and time! MoshPits and body surfing all night long.

  • Excellent performance, okay venue

by Nic on 4/28/23Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I’d see Spiritbox again in a heartbeat, the performance and spectacle were incredible. But I want to avoid Buckhead Theatre. I bought a general admission ticket and ended up not being able to access the pit because you needed some sort of stamp? Even though there’s no differentiation on any venue map I found. So I stood on a sloped floor in the back. The venue’s small enough that I could see okay but my legs are still suffering days later. And parking is a nightmare.

  • Sound Mix Imbalance

by Sassyrock on 4/28/23Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Spiritbox live and attending a show at the Buckhead Theatre. The show was great and the music sounded much like the studio recordings. However, the sound mix in the venue was imbalanced, which is quite common during live shows. The amplified instruments overpowered and drowned out the vocals in the mix. The lead singer, Courtney has a killer beautiful voice and it was very disappointing that her vocals were lost in the house mix.

by C#1 on 4/24/23The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was incredible first off! Spiritbox was AMAZING live!!! Their sound was great, their catalog of music was a banger one after another, their stage presence was AWESOME and how can you not give mad props to Courtney LaPlante! These individuals are so talented and it was a pleasure to see them. They do not disappoint!!!

  • Get Recked

by Ren on 4/23/23The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

It was great. Except for the mosh that I didn’t want to be in & couldn’t get away from. Usually, I’m all about moshing. I respect it from afar. But this pit was not fun. It was the mustiest pit I’d ever smelled. You couldn’t move to stay safe. Dudes just pushed you back in, shoved, punched, & trampled you. It was hard to enjoy the actual show being made to get hurt in a pit you don’t want to be in & can’t escape.

  • Awesome live performance

by Austin on 4/21/23The Van Buren - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

This band was amazing live. Their music is some of my favorite, and it was even better live. Will definitely see them again!

  • Good show but room for improvement

by Auri on 4/20/23The Observatory North Park - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

I absolutely love Spiritbox (this is my third time seeing them in the span of a year) but their sound person/team needs to improve or get replaced. Courtney sounded muffled throughout the entire set. This also happened the first time I saw them when they were opening for Underoath last year. The other bands at this show sounded fine but for some reason Spiritbox didn't sound as good. The energy also wasn't quite there (could be because of the crowd or the sound situation, not sure). I know they can put on an amazing quality, high energy show (like they did at the Headbang for Science show in Anaheim) so please go back to that! I'll still keep supporting and coming to shows regardless but would really love to see this band grow into their full potential as live performers.

  • Epic sound and visuals

by Dynomonkey on 4/20/23The Van Buren - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

Fist time to see Spiritbox and not disappointed!! Sound quality and visuals were better than expected. The bands energy was over the top. The addition of Josh Gilbert only made the live show thay much better!! His added vocals with or trading off woth Courtney was amazing!!!

  • The best concert I’ve been to in a long time

by Brent on 4/20/23The Van Buren - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

First off, their sound live was crystal clear and flawless. Their setlist was perfect. Their stage presence was perfect. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. Their merch was also amazing. My friends and I each bought multiple items.

  • Great show!!

by Todd F. on 4/20/23The Van Buren - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

Spiritbox did a great job assembling their opening acts - Intervals, After the Burial. Energetic, talented bands leading up to a Spiritbox set list that mixed some old with a lot of more recent hits. Nice multi-level stage setup gave great views of all the members. Took my 13 year old son with me and he had a blast!! The Van Buren is a nice venue as well. Can't wait for the next time Spiribox comes through AZ!!

  • Amazing Show

by corkybarks on 4/20/23The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5
