About

For many artists, a meteoric rise can often mean a sudden plateau. However, for 2X Grammy-nominated progressive heavy metal mainstays Spiritbox, there appears to be no end in sight on their near-constant ascent to the top. Formed in 2017 in the picturesque yet isolated region of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, by vocalist Courtney Laplante and guitarist Mike Stringer, Spiritbox would fully cement themselves as a household name in the summer of 2020 with the release of their blistering breakout single "Holy Roller," along with a host of other captivating singles shortly after, resulting in critical and commercial acclaim.

With new and existing fans eagerly watching their next move, Spiritbox, which also consists of drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert, exceeded every expectation imaginable in 2021 with the release of their genre-defining debut studio album Eternal Blue via Pale Chord/Rise Records. Eternal Blue, which debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, kicked open the doors of the heavy metal scene and rewrote the genre's playbook with 12 stunning tracks including the smash single, "Circle With Me."

Following a whirlwind touring cycle for Eternal Blue and the experimental 2022 Rotoscope EP, Spiritbox wrote and recorded their critically acclaimed EP, The Fear of Fear, released in November 2023. The EP featured the lead single "Jaded," which was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Exactly one year later, Spiritbox were nominated for a Grammy once again in the Best Metal Performance category, this time for the unapologetically heavy The Fear of Fear track  "Cellar Door," which also inspired celebrated folk/doom metal artist Chelsea Wolfe to cover the song in stripped-down fashion on her latest EP, Unbound. With two Grammy nominations under their belt, Spiritbox have solidified their status as one of the most influential acts in modern metal today.

For fans patiently waiting for new music, Spiritbox satiated the demand this past September with the incendiary single "Soft Spine." The pummeling track took the band's signature visceral sound and dialed it up to eleven in terms of intensity and musicality to rave reviews. In October, the band also shared their most recent collaboration "TYG," with iconic rapper Megan Thee Stallion, with whom the band worked on last year's fan favorite remix of the song "Cobra."

After months of online speculation and rumors of a long-awaited new studio album, Spiritbox announced their brand new sophomore LP, Tsunami Sea. Produced by longtime collaborator Dan Braunstein, along with Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer, Tsunami Sea is undoubtedly the band's most vulnerable and introspective release to date and the 11 track album finds the group not only returning to their roots but venturing into new waters as well at full steam. Along with the announcement of Tsunami Sea, Spiritbox shared the anthemic and melodically-driven new single "Perfect Soul" and just a few months later they released one of the heaviest tracks of their career with "No Loss, No Love" -- further showcasing the band's ability to juxtapose beauty and aggression seamlessly.

Tsunami Sea finally arrived on March 7th via Pale Chord/Rise Records BMG, and much like the title suggests, it caused a tidal wave of exciting new milestones in Spiritbox's career--debuting at #26 in the US on the Billboard Top 200 charts, as well as #1 on the US Current Hard Music charts. Always a strong global presence, Spiritbox also cracked the top 20 of the UK charts, scoring a #17 placement overall, #1 on the UK Indie Charts, and #12 on the Top German Album charts--along with a #1 spot on the Top Canadian Hard Music Chart.

With each release, Spiritbox continues to carve out a legacy defined not just by numbers, but by fearless reinvention, genre-defying ambition, and an unwavering connection to their ever-growing global audience.

  • Spiritbox is BRUTAL

by Purphaze on 5/12/23House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Hometown crowd for After the Burial and Spiritbox. One brutal combo that I can see again and again. Spiritbox even did a medley of no doubt and Billie Eilish.

  • Pretty good but

by Dave on 5/10/23House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Show was good but House of Blues still struggles with the pit being so tiny. Definitely needs some remodeling or expansion of the pit area

  • Spiritbox

by Mark on 5/9/23House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Spiritbox in Cleveland. Really enjoyed the show - one of my favorite concerts that I’ve been to. I hope they headline their own tour again very soon.

  • Eternal Blue

Amazing show with all sorts of great visuals on stage. Perfect balance of hardcore and harmonic vibes.

  • Great Show

by Roger That on 5/9/23House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Spiritbox sounded great giving us audience members our monies worth of a show. I know why they’re an up & coming metal core band!

  • They're incredible

by CB on 5/9/23House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Even with Courtney having bronchitis, she was simply amazing. The whole band is superb, the energy and sense of unity was off the charts. Will definitely attend more events in the future!

  • Hardcore and Beautiful

by Buff4lo on 5/9/23House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Right off the bat. Courtney said she had bronchitis and she’d try her best to sing. Not once did it not sound like the original recordings. After the Burial was a band I heard of but never really listened too. Blown away by their performance. Same goes with Intervals! Awesome concert and sweet venue.

  • Lackluster Sound at History

by Mike on 5/8/23History - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

This was my fourth show at History. Spiritbox was incredibly tight. And their lighting and video combined, really added to their show. Ive seen Spiritbox, Alter Bridge and Shinedown multiple times and they have never sounded as bad as in that venue. Trying different spots for each show didnt change my opinion. It is clearly a venue designed with rap entertainers in nind only. Whether it is the sound desgn of the venue itself that is the issue or lack of proper mid range PA or both is the question. I actually walked out of the Palaye Royale show due to poor quality of sound. I never walk out of shows. If you are going to a show for sound andcit is anything other than rap, this isnt the venue for you.

This is the second time i have seen Spiritbox and both times they have blown me away...

  • Great show, bad speakers

    by B on 5/8/23The Fillmore Detroit - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

The performances were amazing!! Intervals had the best sounds of all 3 performers. Once After the burial came on the instruments started to get a little loud you couldn’t fully hear the vocalist. Once Spiritbox came on, the instruments got so loud you couldn’t hear the vocalist at all. Even going back to my videos you can’t hear her at all. The show on the 6th had no issues for that though, i just think the speakers had some issues is all

  • Great show.

Incredible! Lived up to the hype and then some. I would see Spiritbox 100 times.

  • SPIRITBOX 2023

by Lautzy on 5/8/23The Fillmore Detroit - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was completely amazing but the reason why I'm giving it four stars was because I don't think the audio mixing was the greatest. When Spiritbox was performing there were some moments where I couldn't hear Courtney's vocals and then some moments when I could. Now I'm not sure if it had something to do with where I was sitting which was at the mezzanine or if it was just the overall quality of the mix.

  • Excellent

by Incredible on 5/7/23History - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Venue was incredible! History is a beautiful place decent food and drink prices. Opening band Intervals was good after the burial was incredible and headliner Spiritbox was absolutely fantastic.

  • Just another concert

by Brandon on 5/5/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

They're good live, but nothing special. Once you've seen them once or twice, you're set. Their live show doesn't add anything to the experience of being their fan. Setlist was also pretty lackluster. 2 tracks from rotoscope EP, rule of nines, and yellowjacket. Could've played beauty of suffering/everything's eventual, summit/silk/strange world, anything off singles EP, blessed be, but instead wasted FOUR song slots on those. Docking a star for the setlist. Glad to hear Halcyon, though, that was my fav track off EB.
