It had been quite a few years since I have had a chance to see SCOTS, as I live in Australia now. The band were red hot. Furious solos from Rick, and a tight groove from Mary and Dave. The harmonies were tight as well sounding better then ever. They played an extra long set with the same energy level at the end as at the start. The opening act Emily Rose was a pleasant surprise of smooth alt-country with exceptional pedal steel and tight harmonies.
The Get Down Band (opening act) was a pleasant surprise… Really enjoyed their surf music.. SCOTS lived up to and even exceeded my expectations.. Very talented trio!
I’ve been going to SCOTS concerts for thirty years when they are in St Louis. I didn’t experience the energy I was expecting to see or feel. They seem a bit tired with little to no enthusiasm they once had. Additionally, Mary had to keep asking the Duck-room staff to adjust the lighting to the stage. At one time the lighting went completely off for a few seconds. They didn’t even perform one of their signature songs, “Eight piece box” where they throw chicken out to the audience. They had the chicken out and ready to go, just ended the show with passing the box around and not performing the song. They did perform some of their best songs, that was good. But overall a very underwhelming experience for me this time. With that said, I may not see them again with the show trending downwards at it is. For others, I hope they find a way to bring back the energy they once had, long ago.
More fun than we had all year! Bands an old favorite!!!
Opening band made up of Jon Spencer and ex-Sonic Youth members. The audience loved 'em. SCOTS put on al powerhouse epic guitar fueled, funky good time for all of them Camel Walkers. Fun crowd, and a big thank you to Beachland Ballroom for another great night. My favorite local place for music.
Always plays their hits and throws out new songs. This band has never disappointed. Opening act was cool also. They looked great and sounded even better. Have seen them consistently for 25 years. I have loved every show! Beachland Ballroom is always a great venue to see a band. Makes you feel like your at a private show but actually there are several hundred people there
Not a big fan of the opener. Just not my taste. SCOTS was awesome. Other than skipping a few songs I was hoping to hear - fantastic. They were gracious enough to take pictures after the show. Has a great time. Will see them again next time around for sure.
Jon Spencer was OK. Not big on political songs. SCOTS could have picked a better headliner in my opinion….. but hey maybe others liked him. It just want for me. Other than skipping a few songs I was hoping to hear they were great. Sounded great…. a great time overall. They were gracious enough to pose for a few pics after the show. Will definitely see them again.
Awesome show. We had a great time. They even stayed after and signed a poster for my son's first concert. Keep rocking
