South Florida Bulls Men’s Basketball History
The South Florida Bulls men's basketball team first took the court in 1971 as the Golden Brahmans in what is now NCAA Division II, but quickly made the jump to Division I in 1973. The Bulls joined the Sun Belt Conference in 1976 and made further moves to the Metro Conference in 1991, Conference USA in 1995, the Big East in 2005 and The American in 2013.
The Bulls, who adopted their current mascot in 1980, have made three appearances in the NCAA Tournament, in 1990, 1992 and 2012, and advanced the furthest to the Round of 32 in their most recent outing. In 1990, the team won the conference tournament championship as members of the Sun Belt Conference. USF has also competed in the National Invitation Tournament nine times, as well as the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) once, where the Bulls claimed the tournament championship in 2019.
For the 2023-24 season, late head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim led the Bulls to a program-best 25-8 overall record and a 16-2 conference record to claim their first regular season conference championship. The Bulls also achieved their first national ranking on the AP Top 25 College Basketball Poll, while Abdur-Rahim was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Following Abdur-Rahim’s passing in October 2024, USF announced their hiring of Arkansas State head coach Bryan Hodgson.

South Florida Bulls Men’s Basketball at Yuengling Center
USF men’s basketball plays at Yuengling Center on the University of South Florida campus in Tampa, Florida. Opened in 1980, the 10,500-seat venue was originally named the USF Sun Dome until 2018, but it has also earned the nickname the “Rose Garden” after the exceptional Bulls gameplay under head coach Lee Rose between 1980 and 1986. Following the unexpected death of first-year coach Amir Abdur-Rahim in 2024, the arena’s spirited So Flo Rodeo student section was officially dedicated in his honor. A $35.6 million renovation was completed in 2012.

Waiting in line for men's rooms for 20 min only 4 urinals!
Great seats. The arena is small so all the seats have nice views of the court. No wait time to get beer and soda. The people working the concessions are very polite. Recommend to all.
Outstanding. I have used Ticketmaster a number of times and have never been disappointed in anytime.
The tampa bay forum is a great venue and we really love going there. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the facility is very clean. Top Notch.
Lackluster low-scoring game but with a great finish. USF fans hospitable. Good time. Felt bad for USF fans after the support they demonstrated.
Took my grandchildren ages 15 &14. The seat locatation was much better than anticipated, on the corner but right up front. The game great, a wonderful afternoon overall. Thanks to ticketmaster for the great seats.
Awesome and exciting game!!!! Plan on attending next home game this weekend!
Seats and parking purchased through Ticketmaster were outstanding. Unfortunately the game wasn't up to expectation as my favorite team, the Wildcats, had a less than memorable night as they lost to USF....again.
The Bulls came through with an exciting win against the once great Villianova Basketball Team. The USF Band had talent and spirit however they really need a Band Director they can all see and take ques from. They were messy only because they could not see the Band Leader for direction. The Pom Pons and Cheerleaders did a great job! What the heck was the half-time show with a bunch of little girls dressed up trying to look sexy? Come on this was a college game, it wasn't even proper for a high school game. They had talent but really? That was the only disappointment of the evening.
The PA system was so loud it was ridiculous. My wife and I had a headache after 10 minutes. We came to enjoy a good game but the noise from the announcer and piped in music drowned out the crowd. Awful.
Game was great, but Guest services was less then friendly, when I realized there were many unsold center courts seats available, and they were unwilling to allow me to upgrade, as I offered to pay the difference in ticket price. the host used his radio to ask my question and a very smart, unprofessional answer came back," that I should have purchased better seats when I bought my tickets". I havve upgraded tickets at The Times Forum for many events in the past, but it was explaned to me the USF rents the venue for the basketball games and they make the calls on upgraded seating. USF, please teach your students who interact with Customers, how to respect the person with the money. Honestly there was 4000 people at a venue of 20000?? and kids under 18 are free, so not entertaining a game day upgrade is bad business, and pretty silly as I watch some ticketholder relocate to better seats during the game.
Usf mens basketball was really fun! This was my first USF experience!!
Only complaint is that I kept hitting my foot on the attached cup holders behind the seat in front of me everytime someone needed to get by.
USF did much better than I expected wasn't impressed with uconn this game
Awesome seats...great game...USF kept it close but the Huskies won out!!! GO HUSKIES!!!
It was fun the seats are very close together my dads 5.8 and his knees hit the seat
Excellent game. Good Seat. Marist lost 67-81. Lots of action.
Game was awesome as Pitt beat South Florida. The Sun Dome was a disappointment. It is not managed properly, as people kept getting out of seats (no "hockey stops"} and no usher in the upper bowl to make sure people were sitting in their proper seats. But Pitt won, and that made it worthwhile..
For $50 per ticket, we got seats in the Courtside Cabana at the east end of the Sun Dome. There was all-you-can-eat hotdogs, nachos, roast chicken, popcorn, and cookies. Not to mention free wine and beer! Aside from the fact that the nacho cheese was the perma-orange, gooey variety, all of the food was high quality. My only gripe is that seating for the game was a bit puzzling. There are many stadium seats available, but this particular game was very well-attended, so the stadium seats were already occupied when we got there (right at tip-off). There are also nice leather couches and ottomans to sit on, but it would be great if all of those were close to the front of the section and stools or pub chairs were farther back. I saw a few people grumble at each other because one unwittingly stood in the other's line-of-sight. Verdict: worth the money, but get there with a few minutes to spare so you can score a great seat for the game.
Good game terrible service and seats for a handicapped person. Cant believe in this era the arena staff are not more in tune with a person needing help.
