My third time. As fun as ever! A great way to celebrate 50 years of SOM!!!!!!
This was my second attendance to the Sing-a-long, and will likely be my last. From the hostess, Melissa Peterman, to the intoxicated crowd, this event changed a family, friendly, PG movie to a rated-R porn show. The crowd was encouraged to make "cat-calls" toward Captain Von Trapp and the ladies around me encouraged the Captain to "give Maria the tongue." Melissa Peterman was a disgrace. The foul language was completely inappropriate. What a disappointment!
We had a great time at the sing-a-long -- where else do you get to sing all those favorite songs with 17,000 other people? (And not get yelled at for singing along during a movie?) The picture and sound quality of the movie is excellent at the Bowl. I do wish that the pre-show was shorter -- we purposefully missed the first half hour or so of the show, and it still got tiresome by the end. The costumes are fun to look at, but I really did not need to hear an interview with every person in costume. The movie didn't start until after 8:15 pm, which made for a really long evening (movie ending at 11:30 pm)-- and then it took us almost half an hour to get from our seats to our shuttle. It would be good if there were Park-n-ride shuttles offered to the Bowl later in the day to arrive in time for the movie (rather than the show). That said, we had a fun evening, and we would consider doing it again.
It was a fantastic event!!!!!! It was my first time attending a Sing-a-long and it won't be my last !
What could be more fun than acting silly along with 18,000 other people?!
Wife and I went expecting just to sing along, then we saw the costume contest, the host was wonderful and the place was packed. When everyone started singing along to The Sound of Music and yelling for the captain, my wife was hooked! The audience participation is beyond fun and we are planning on bringing the kids next year. Plus, It's the Hollywood Bowl. A great place to see a show.
It was so nice to see this beautiful movie on the big screen again. As a child I looked forward for when it would rerun on the theaters. The venue was packed, people singing joyfully and a new generation being exposed to the glorious views, sounds and acting of the best, timeless actors such as Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. I left so happy, and looking forward to next year :-)
Great family event. But also you can bring adult beverages. My friend and are are 25 years old and we had a blast. Don't forget to get your funpack at the door!
My first time to this sing a long so wasn't sure what to expect. By far, the most fun I have had in a long time. The crowd was just as entertaining as the movie. The crowd consisted of groups of all adults, families, men, women, children, teenagers, etc. This is definitely for any age group. Highly recommend!
It's one of my daughter's favorites. Pre-show costume parade on stage was fun and hilarious. Singing along with lyrics on screen with 18,000 fellow fans unforgettable.
Overall really fun. Wish I had come into the bowl earlier. Only caught some of the pre show and it was hysterical. Melissa Peterman was a great host and the costumes were great. My only 2 comments on what I wish to see Improved if I go back again, some directions in the gift bags handed out, otherwise that was great. And please use the small screens. I understand if the movie can only be projected on the big screen but could have used the small screens for produced content. At least to show the words to the songs. Otherwise great and I'd definitely go again.
It was our first time...we couldn't believe how much fun we had. Melissa Peterman was a great hostess, though the pre-show dragged a bit due to the large volume of costume-clad guests. That part was MUCH too long. I hadn't realized they would have the words to the songs on the movie - so the crowd could truly sing-a-long. It was a beautiful night at the Bowl! We would go again and bring others, but not for the entire pre-show.
This is the fourth time to see this show and it was great. You have 5 hours of great activates, It starts with the best costume contest around that is open for all ages, then the movie with all the fun people that bring props and their imaginations.
Sound of Music was an evening of fun, where the hills of Hollywood meet the Hills of Austria in Song. In these hectic times, it is such a great thing to step off the planet for a minute and just enjoy a laugh and a care-free evening with what feels like an audience of friends. The emcee of the show is marvelous and witty. I love this event and this venue.
Little more than projecting the film, with and endless parade of badly dressed up fans (called pre-show). For 3 to 10 times worth a theater's ticket, it's absolutely not worth the time neither the money.
It was so fun to be a part of this lovely movie. With everyone singing and participating in the actions ofnthe movie.
The whole evening was very enjoyable. From the pre-show costume contest, to the free "interactive item" bags, this is the best way to watch TSOM. Next year I am bringing my flashlight.
Had a great time. Colder than last year but what's better than singing with hundreds of other people at the bowl .
I knew about this event and finally decided to go. Well, it by far exceeded all of my expectations!!! I rank it up there with the best entertainment I've ever experienced. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time, and I was awed by how many people love the movie as much as I. I LOVED all of the costumes, both obvious and creative. I loved all of the added sound effects that other attendees brought along.....cowbells, etc. It was just so much fun and will definitely be on my list for next year!!!
