Bands were great. VIP section was awful!

by AmandaMarieC on 1/11/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Soulive and Lettuce were amazing but my time was ruined by the awful VIP section tickets I purchased. They were absolutely not worth the extra money. You couldn't see well from the VIP section and there were hardly any seats. They didn't give you many of the things they promised or, like the drinks, made it seem much better when it was advertised (said they'd give you champagne at midnight but only gave you a free drink ticket which you had to wait for at the over crowded bar). The only cool thing was the autographed poster but they were already signed by the time you got there. VIP = Not worth it!!

    Live Soulive

by JFerg on 1/8/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Excellent musicianship, but could have done without the massively intense bass levels. The speaker system was for a venue 3 times the size. Other than that, Kraz and gang didn't disappoint, and never do.

Soulive is always an incredible show, and Lettuce and Break Science were amazing. I would definitely see this show again and recommend it to anyone looking to hear some great music and see some crazy talented musicians.

    PLAY SOME NEW MUSIC

by EleanorDerkaRigby on 1/1/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Wow, I can't believe I just saw the exact same soulive and lettuce shows two nights in a row. The played the same lettuce sets, soulive sets, and even the encore was identical both nights. How dare they pitch the concerts as a two night event. I can't believe that bands like soulive and lettuce, who have many songs in their line up would do that. The band members should be ashamed for putting on duplicate shows. Who would think that duplicate shows are a good idea? Thank god for the copious amounts of herb I smoked during the show, otherwise I would have been miserable. Break science was dank.

    Another Life-Changing Show!

by 123JoeCool on 10/23/09Water Street Music Hall - Rochester

This is the first time I've seen Soulive live, but I've seen Lettuce twice before, and each time was a life-changing performance. This was no different! Those three guys can create so much energy it's unbelievable. Alan just absolutely lays down the groove and never wavers. You generally lock onto the bass in a group like that, but I got the feeling that he was in charge. Speaking of the bass, Neal Evans is a freak. Literally. His bass lines were so fresh, and he was doing it while comping on the organ and soloing. His fills in the Beatles encore were just too much, too much!! And Krasno is just in a league of his own on the guitar. He can do no wrong! All in all, a tight show. Keep em coming!

Soulive ripped it up as usual

by JaySkills on 10/16/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

The 3 guys did an amazing job last night. Tons of energy right from the first song. All versions of the songs were fast paced / up beat. Their originals were crisp and even rocked a version of Manic Depression toward the end. Fantastic!

Acoustics were great. Plenty of spaces to view from. Was not too hot or too cold. Soulive played for 2 hours straight. They took a quick break and performed a 2 song encore. They were unbelievable and had great guests. I waited 6 years to see them live and it was WELL worth the wait. Thank you Soulive. Only complaint of the night was that they started 15 minutes late.

Soulive with Nigel Hall: Rocked is Right

by pws3 on 10/16/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Completely up to par, and par with these guys is pretty amazing. Ballroom was about 3/4 full with plenty of room to dance. Songs start off in a meandering ho-hum fashion and then suddenly they've found the deep groove and we are hanging on for dear life.

Evans bros and Krasno kick it old school.

by ElGuapodelnorte on 10/16/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

After Nigel Hall did his short opening, the Evans bros came out to supply a smooth intricut layer of drums and Hammond to blend with Nigel's Stevie Wonder voice. After that was done, it wasn't until after 10pm that Soulive came out dressed in their suits as in the early days. It was an explosive night as they played old numbers such as Turn It Out which really got the place rocking. The chemistry and depth that this band puts out is distinct with every appearance, throwing a fun, energetic yet collective vibe to the place. The members were celebrating their 10 year aniversary and showed their enthusiasm with their intense and dynamically loud playing. A bit later in the sole set, a slow and jazzy rendition of the Stevie Ray classic "Lenny" was played. 10 minute spotlight solos by Eric Krasno and Alan Evans gave the members a chance to shine on their individual prowess and virtuosity. A debut of some of their new material was embarked upon, as each member is releasing their own individual album, not to mention that this show will also be part of a live album to be released. An encore with a good friend and sax player finally set the place ablaze. The place was packed with loyal fans and dancing bodies as usual for a small classic venue such as the bowery ballroom.

    Soulive rocked the house

by YourFunkness on 10/16/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Me and 15 of my closest friends headed into NYC last night for Soulive/Nigel Hall. It definitely exceeded all my expectations. They are phnomenal musicians. I'd love to see them again sometime! Great venue too. I love the Bowery Ballroom!

    Soulive was unreal.

by breakdancedvd on 9/18/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Simply Stated. They are flawless funk. My only complaint was that many of us were under the impression that the show would start promptly at 8pm as opposed to 9:15 opening act.

    Killer time

by Xeyed on 9/16/09Pines Theater at Look Park - Florence

Pines Theater is one of NE's best kept secret. The music was all great, especially Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings! Very chill and laid back vibe. I look fwd to it again next year.
