The Meters played rare reunion gig with all 4 original members plus Cyril Neville. Ivan Neville on stage most of show in support on vocals and keyboards. Four piece horns section too. Awesome tight. Lean funky grooves. Marc Broussard sang It Ain't No Use!
The show was wayyyy overpriced. The drummer, Zigaboo Modeliste even went so far to say, that "everybody should get a 15$ refund for attending". I understand that they're getting up there in years, and their health is the best, but the performance lacked the usual power. The seats were in a good spot, but were designed for a person no larger than 5'8''. Lack of merchandise to buy was also a downer. They had about 25 random sized shirts, with NO larges. No posters or other effects. Art Neville couldn't even sing the vocals for their best known hit "Ain't No Use". Just cost too much for what was performed. Opener was a bad fit for the The Meters also.
So very disappointed to attend what should have been highlight event to find the sound so terrible it was like mush! A bad start to Jazz Fest, no fault of the band. We left after four numbers
