About

With 10 Tony® nominations including Best Musical, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is a “big, fat hit!” (New York Post). Set in the ‘90s – the 1590s – this hilarious smash tells the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom (Tony® nominee Rob McClure and Broadway’s Josh Grisetti), two brothers who are desperate to write their own hit play while the “rock star” Shakespeare (Tony® nominee Adam Pascal) keeps getting all the hits. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first MUSICAL! With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is “The Producers + Spamalot + The Book of Mormon. Squared!” (New York Magazine).

    Amazing cast and performance

by Gabe on 2/9/22Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand Oaks

This show was great! The cast was amazing and everyone could sing amazingly. The book and music were excellent to boot and you left singing the songs in your head and remembering how hard you laughed! Would recommend and see again.

LOVE THIS PLAY - so creative, clever and smart

by Heather Feather on 2/8/22Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand Oaks

This is the 3rd time I have seen Something Rotten. This performance was exceptionally well done in ALL areas, set, casting, actors themselves, and of ourse the storyline itself. Something Rotten is one of my most favorite shows and this production did it justice. Every character was played to perfection and the , costuming very well done. I would like to see it again.

I was lucky to see the opening night of "Something Rotten" at 5 Star. What a great way to return to theatre after all these years! Everything was so great. The performances were fantastic. I especially loved the guy who played Nostradamus, the seer. He was so funny! The audience was rolling with laughter. Amazing show all around!

    A wonderful theatrical experience!

by L. B. on 5/18/19E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

I really enjoyed the production of Something Rotten. The show was hilarious, the actors did a fantastic job, the songs were catchy, the set design was interesting. My only issue was an occasional difficulty hearing the song lyrics over the music, but overall I had a great time. I would recommend this production to anyone--there's nothing like a musical!

    Very Entertaining Show

by Akron Gal on 5/18/19E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

Very funny show if you love musical theatre and have seen lots of shows. If you haven't, you might now get the humor. Entertaining with lots of good songs and tap dancing - which was excellent! Has clever sets and costumes.

by God, I hate Shakespeare on 5/18/19E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

This is a smart, funny and absolutely delightful musical....just what I needed after a very long stressful day at work. The cast was amazingly witty, there was great character connection.

    Poor sound

by Operaboy on 5/18/19E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

This play has hilarious lyrics but if you can't hear them it's a problem. At first I thought it was the enunciation of the main character (and that may have been part of it), but I realized that there were many occasions when the audience in the center and right side laughed, while we on the left did not--the whole left side did not! That led me to believe that the sound quality on our side was not at peak level.

    Filthy and Rotten

by B. M. on 5/18/19E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

I could not leave a comment without a star...thus the 1 Star rating. It really receives a Minus 5 Star Rating! This play had constant filthy language and sexual innuendo. We left before intermission because it was so disgusting to watch. Where is wholesome entertainment? Something Rotten was definitely Something Rotten!

    Good show, bad tech

by Dan on 5/17/19E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

I bought tickets for 10 people, for a group outing. We sat in the middle of the balcony, and $62 is a lot of money for balcony seats. That's more expensive than playhouse square in Cleveland. This was my second time seeing a touring broadway show at EJ, and both times the sound system has been horrible. I was unable to hear much at all, which ruined the show for me and for the rest of my group. I really like this show so I was excited to see it again, and since we couldn't hear a thing it was ruined. What a waste of $62.

    An Audience Tale

by G. W. on 4/23/19William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - Fresno

Thought the show was funny, quick.. and the music great. The dialogue in both speaking and song was sometimes lost - a shame because it was clever. May have been a problem acoustically.

    Amazing!

by S. on 4/20/19William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - Fresno

The show was really great! My significant other and I have slightly different tastes and we both enjoyed it greatly. It was over-the-top in a hilarious way and never took itself too seriously. The cast did a great job and the subject matter was great. If you either love or hate Shakespeare, it's still an amazing show. I recommend it to anyone who wants a light-hearted, funny experience.
