    Smithereen really rock!

by GbB3 on 1/21/13B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Finally got a chance to see the Smithereens live. Have loved their straight-ahead rock, energy, and clearly appreciated lyrics since the '80's. The performance was memorable as they played with a high level of energy and engaged the audience throughout a continuous 2-hour set. They have a great stage personality and clearly enjoy performing live - especially with an adoring and loyal crowd. The BB King venue was a great match for the group - more intimate than an outside festival setting, although the latter would allow the audience to dance mor easily.

    The Smithereens. Love them

by attorney7 on 1/21/13B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

This the 3rd year in a row we have seen the Smithereens at B B Kings. Obviously we love the band. When the bassist and the lead guitarist come out to the crowd and jam is the highlight of the show. Like when they perform The Who songs.

    Blown away by Smithereens

by njvikefan on 1/21/13B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

I've been a fan and a friend of the band's since their earliest days. When Pat originally lived at home, Jim was in Music in a Different Kitchen, Dennis had much better jokes and Mike was, well, 'Mike'. I staged a few live shows from my (fossilized) radio days: 'Barrage from the Garage' (on 'HTG, 106.3) and one particularly lively show, was with The Smithereens at the Court Tavern in New Brunswick. They are still, without question, a: 'mondo frat bash au go-go' with incredible enthusiasm and relentless passion for their craft. Time and time again.

    Time won't let me...

by MisterThomas on 2/16/12Skagit Valley Casino - Bow

Thank you gentlemen, from a transplanted East Coaster. It was the first time I ever saw this group even though I am originally from the Garden State. Not only were they musically spot on, but every member was clearly enjoying themselves. The talent of each of them was matched by overt and genuine friendliness during the meet and greet. Pat walked in saying "Ah! My people!" and this was the tone set for the whole session.

    Smithereens are fantastic!

by essgeeman on 2/14/12Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - Bow

We went to both shows. Each was wonderful with one of the best bands in the land clearly enjoying themselves and playing tight, melodic rock. They obviously love and respect their fans, too. The room was a good one - fairly small with great sound. The place was rocking out! We'd go to see these guys again in a heartbeat!

    Middle Aged Mayhem

by BobbiDee on 2/13/12Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - Bow

Great Concert, nice venue, very fun. I took my wife to this concert for valentines day. She has always been a fan and I always enjoyed their work so I figured it would be okay, it was a lot more than that. In as few words as possible, They haveen't lost their chops. The new bass player was good but I was stunned by both of the Solos by the Drummer and the Lead Guitarist. They played intricate, powerful solos while making it look as if they were drinking a cold beer in their lawn chairs. the Vocals were also amazing. most bands at 30+ plus years in the business sing in lower registers and still stuggle. These guys rocked.

    The Smithereens Rocked!

by 62Rocker on 2/13/12Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - Bow

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE SMITHEREENS! The show was awesome! Pat still has the golden pipes that make each song so amazing when you hear them live. They played most of their hits and several songs from their latest album - 2011. Great song selection.

The Smithereens still Blowing Me Away!

by RobSlater on 2/13/12Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - Bow

The were understated. They came on stage, checked their instruments were tuned and then started rocking. They didn't stop. They had fun. We had fun. Their news songs are excellent. Their choice of cover tunes was spot. Only wished they'd played, "Sick of Seattle!"

    Worth the hearing loss!

by FearandLoathing on 2/13/12Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - Bow

This bunch of old guys rocked! They rocked with some old classics "in a room", "girl like you", "drown in my own tears". They rocked some of the new album "I'd like to say I'm Sorry" and "one look at you" which is good stuff that musically flows with the old stuff. Then a couple of covers including the Who's "Seeker".... I'm getting old and bring ear plugs to shows. I took them out early and left them out.

A great venue to see this high energy band. It was obvious to anyone in the audience that this tight-knit band was having a blast on stage.

    Smithereens rock the Pacific Stadium!

by SirPAF on 2/13/12Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - Bow

Okay, so it is actually the Pacific Showroom and the size of an elementary gym, but you couldn't tell by the way Pat, Jim, Dennis and The Thrilla rocked the show! They gave it 100% during all of the two hour concert. The audience was older than I expected and still came to their feet to pump their fists and cheer on The Smithereens! After the show, all four members were on hand to meet with fans, sign memorabilia, take pictures, and talk, yes, talk with fans. Can't wait for them to return to the Northwest.

    Fantastic show!

by BellinghamBabe on 2/13/12Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - Bow

I went to this show with no expectations - my husband really likes the band but I didn't know anything about them. They were fantastic! They have new, fresh material and they sounded tight! I loved the new songs and the old ones sounded great too. The vocals were awesome. They really got the crowd going and were really connecting with the audience. My only complaint was the venue just didn't do them justice - they deserved a bigger space because they can WAIL! All in all a great show - I hope they come back soon!

BB Kings hosts power-pop Kings 'The Smithereens'

by EHig on 1/24/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

The Smithereens (reigning Kings of Rock&Roll) took BB Kings by storm Saturday night in NYC. From the second they hit the stage the world’s best power pop flowed – every song a superb delivery. Jim Babjak, world-class guitarist, poured out the hits from the group’s lengthy songbook. Joined by the inimitable Severo ‘Thrilla’ Jornacion on bass, the two worked overtime to keep the sold-out crowd on their feet. There is no finer drummer than Dennis Diken whose energy and sound is sheer perfection. And lead man Pat DiNizio slayed the crowd with his deep and soulful voice and delivery on every tune. Exquisite guitarist himself, his playful banter and signature smile kept things flowing, the crowd loves him. Andy Burton, newcomer on keyboards, brought a lovely addition to Smithereen gems we rarely hear live. These gentlemen can do no wrong where music is concerned. The hometown heroes had the crowd laughing, singing and clamoring for more as the guitarists jumped the stage and ran through the aisles, playing all the while. There is no finer or more hard-working band in the business. The only people having a better time Sat night were the band themselves, clearly comrades in arms and blood brothers after 32 years together. We were eating out of their hands and this show will go down in BB King history as one of the very best. Long may you reign Smithereens!

    Smithereens Rock NYC!

by Tommyboy1000 on 1/23/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Some may think of the Smithereens as a late 80s band, but they are even better now. The show I saw at B.B. Kings in NYC featured a mix of excellent songs from the most recent release, Smithereens 2011, with a liberal dose of hit tunes from their earlier albums. Pat DiNizio (vocals) had a great rapport with the audience from the beginning and was in fine form. Jimmy Babjak on guitar was a revelation, with lots of double stop classic rock riffs, and great stage presence. Dennis Diken on drums was possibly one of the best rock drummers I've seen in years and had my kids, who were with me, turning to each other in amazement. And newest member Severo Jornacion played a mean bass and was not shy about yelling out punctuations to the groups songs. Seats at this venue were excellent. I would recommend seeing this band to anyone who likes straight ahead rock and roll.

    This band does it all!

by Snewbie on 1/23/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

This was my first time seeing The Smithereens live. I've listened to their music over the years. The live performance went beyond my expectactions. Pat's unique voice is great live and he gives it his all when he sings and performs. I loved the mix of old and new songs. I am most impressed with Pat's ability to celebrate each band members unique abilities on stage. He truly lets the audience get to hear the full talents fo the drummer, keyboard player, bass player and guitarist. It's not just an introduction to each its band member but a celebration of their contribution to their music. Pat isn't a show stealer, he is a lead singer with gratitude and appreciation of the band as a whole. The Smithereens are dynamic, with a strong interaction with the audience and each other.

The Smithereens - NOT Only A Memory!

by DonnaRemysmom on 1/23/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

This band's energy can rival any power plant! The backbeat of drummer Dennis Diken insych with bassist Severo "The Thrilla" Jornacion is hammering with unparallel precision. Songs are rockin' and infectiously deliveried with vocal inperfection by Pat DiNizio. The riffs and chord progression executed by Jim Babjak excells among the ranks of guitar hero. This band hasn't received enough recognition Hardly a classic band playing oldies, 2011 they released a CD of all new material called 2011 that is mind-blowing providing a higher degree of emphasis on musicianship than the rock world has heard since the 1990s! Do yourself a favor, don't miss the chance to see them! Simply rock & roll perfection!
