Great Show
by ChiefsDad on 8/22/16Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeThe Smithereens were great as usual. The only beef was the opening band played longer than the headliners. Felt a little cheated. Nice venue with beautiful views.

They haven't skipped a beat !!! Totally unbelievable, sounded like I was back in the 80's and twenty again.... A MUST see band.. I would recommend them to everyone, not to miss the opportunity to go to the show.
The Smithereen's are consistently awesome ! No two shows are the same and they truly appreciate their fans.
What can you say about timeless music and a timeless band. Still sound great after all these years...Great show...Great set list....All of the originals you love...a few newer tunes that hold up well...a few cover tunes. It was great to see they still got it!
Bears Den is a great intimate venue. Smithereens were awesome as usual. Andy the new addition on keyboards expanded the repertoire.
they played an entire album as well as all their hits plus more...They Can Rock N roll!!!
As always The Smithereens put on a great show! These guys are probably the most personable rock band out there. They know their fans and even visit tables before the show!
I've seen the Smithereens several times at BB Kings, as well as a few times at other venues. Obviously I am a fan. The boys put on a great show this past weekend, even with Pat not playing guitar (he is recovering from wrist and elbow surgery I believe). A guest keyboard player augmented their sound nicely, and as always, they kicked! Two solid hours of great fun.
The show started right on time and the band was at its best. The crowd was into it and they played a lot of great material (including the Who's "Acid Queen" and Frees "Alright Now". I wish the show was longer.
i couldnt find anywhere to e-mail jim and im not on facebook(nor will i ever be) jim put in one of the greatest guitar performances i have ever seen live it was inspired im 56, and worked in the industry ive seen just about every heavy hitter live in the music biz jims guitar playing saturday night was one of the best!!!!!
The Smithereens rocked the house at the Howard Theater, in Washington D.C. I have been a huge fan of theirs for 25 years and finally got to see them live. It was worth the trip from Alabama
Most fun at a concert in many years. These guys sound the same as they did in the 80's!! The best concert venue around - small, great acoustics and waiters to bring drinks!
The Smithereens sounded amazing! Rocking solid, even some sing alongs! Can't wait to see 'em again!
This was an enjoyable show at a historic club. Tommy Tutone has perhaps the most catchy song ever and the audience ate it up. The Romantics powered through their set and The Smithereens were great! I just wish Pat would lose some weight he looks very unhealthy...
While seeing the Smithereens was a great show -- i purchased tickets at the beginning of the summer to see Marshall Crenshaw. Apparently, Marshall performs "when his schedule permits"? Strange that the initial line-up was not introduced as "Rock of the 80s w The Smithereens, The Romantics, Tommy Tutone and Marshall Crenshaw when his schedule permits"
After 34 years the Smithereens still rocked! What a great show! We had a lot of fun chair dancing to some good old rock n roll. Mohegan Sun is a smaller venue with great acoustics and not a bad seat in the house. I would recommend seeing a show here any time.
The Smithereens are the best 4 piece rock/pop band on the planet. No nonsense. No pretension. Just play your heart out rock and roll and get this.....with MELODY. If you take the Beatles, the WHO, the Kinks, and then add a pinch of Jersey you get the SMITHEREENS.
I had a wonderful time The food and drink was good I will come and come again
We drove from Hamilton Ontario, Canada to see the Smithereens. Brought my mother-in-law with us and she was up dancing with me :) We absolutely LOVE the Smithereens and have driven twice to Norfolk Connecticut to an amazing venue called "Infinity Hall" to see them in the past.
The most fun concert I've ever been to. Pat DiNizio and the crew played hard, played long and really had a great time, along with the audience. This is their favorite show of the year and if you like good, honest American rock n' roll then don't miss it when they play B.B. King's place. At DiNizio said, they didn't just want to play the hits. They put together an amazing set that included great songs from their past and some deep tracks, too. Capped it off with the driving guitars of the "Batman" TV show theme song. This was a hard-core Smithereens audience, too, with many singing along, knowing all the lyrics. I came from California to see this show, having been a long-time Smithereens fans (and just coming off another holiday season enjoying their Christmas CD) and it was more than worth it. I hope I get the chance to see them here again.
