Loved the venue, and the Smithereens were amazing! Very entertaining. I got my money's worth.
I have been a fan of the Smithereens since forever. I never got to see Pat leading the band, so I was apprehensive with Marshall Crenshaw taking over for Pat. There was no need to worry. Marshall did an amazing job. The band is really tight, and played their butts off. I was amazed by their musical knowledge and the wide range of influences. In addition to their own songs, they played songs by David Bowie, The Who, The Beatles, Badfinger (my favorite), and even several Burt Bacharach numbers. I won't miss another concert.
A 3 1/2 hour rollicking funhouse. The Smithereens exceeded expections. The original members played heart-felt, seemless, timeless music. Pat engaged each member of the audience looking them in the eye. Smiling and daring us to ride the wave they created. The Wonder Bar is an intimate venue that vibrated with the bands energy. As a compulsive live music addict, I was swept away. One of the best shows I've ever seen.
The Smithereens were on point! They played all the classics brought back great memories.... great show guys
The Smithereens continue to wow after 37 years. They traveled through songs from every album and intoduced us to one from their next album. I never heard Mike sing during the 30+ shows I have seen, so that was a treat. BB King's was the perfect venue for this event. Thank you Jim, Dennis, Mike and Pat!
The Smithereens brought so many memories from when I was a child. It was more amazing that day then I was a child.
Been a fan of the Smithereens since the 80's. Never got to one of their shows before. These guys totally rocked. I love the sound of the guitars going through Marshall amps. Very retro- 60's rock sound. Would totally recommend to anyone who is a fan of this band, or who love the sound of the early Beatles, Buddy Holly, etc. PS: They reunited with the original base player for this concert and he was great.
I was excited to see that Mike Meszaros is back. His bass sound really made the band what it is. It was also really cool that they played the more obscure songs that you wouldn't normally hear. I hope they come back to the NY area soon! As a Jersey girl who grew up with them, it makes me very happy
I had never seen them before and was told about the group by a good friend. Not only is the music unbelievable but they put on a show that makes you feel great. I can't wait to see them again.
First time seeing the Smithereens. I forgot how great they are and what an awesome intimate venue. Too bad they didn't sell out. They should have. People don't know what they missed out on. Even if you don't know their music it would have been worth the evening
Great. They have taken the best of the 60s and 70s genre (who mostly) and turned it into something fresh. Classic.
The Smithereens were great as usual. The only beef was the opening band played longer than the headliners. Felt a little cheated. Nice venue with beautiful views.
They haven't skipped a beat !!! Totally unbelievable, sounded like I was back in the 80's and twenty again.... A MUST see band.. I would recommend them to everyone, not to miss the opportunity to go to the show.
The Smithereen's are consistently awesome ! No two shows are the same and they truly appreciate their fans.
What can you say about timeless music and a timeless band. Still sound great after all these years...Great show...Great set list....All of the originals you love...a few newer tunes that hold up well...a few cover tunes. It was great to see they still got it!
Bears Den is a great intimate venue. Smithereens were awesome as usual. Andy the new addition on keyboards expanded the repertoire.
they played an entire album as well as all their hits plus more...They Can Rock N roll!!!
As always The Smithereens put on a great show! These guys are probably the most personable rock band out there. They know their fans and even visit tables before the show!
I've seen the Smithereens several times at BB Kings, as well as a few times at other venues. Obviously I am a fan. The boys put on a great show this past weekend, even with Pat not playing guitar (he is recovering from wrist and elbow surgery I believe). A guest keyboard player augmented their sound nicely, and as always, they kicked! Two solid hours of great fun.
