About

SISTER ACT is Broadway's feel-amazing musical comedy smash! The New York Post calls it "RIDICULOUSLY FUN," and audiences are jumping to their feet in total agreement! Featuring original music by 8-time Oscar® winner ALAN MENKEN (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors), SISTER ACT tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look—a convent! Under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, SISTER ACT is reason to REJOICE!

  • Fabulous !!

We saw "Sister Act" in London a few years back, this production was even better. Ms. Resnik, a local favorite, showed us she still has a grand voice and has the moves for this "grooving" Musical.

Absolutely Fabulous! Had a smile on my face constantly.

  • Very Funny, Great Performances

    by slate12 on 11/20/12Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall a delightful show! Great cast and the songs are fabulous. The first act is slow, especially the scene with the boyfriend and his pals. The songs were okay; the choreography was clunky. But the second act was fast and funny, with fantastic singing and gorgeous costumes. Hollis nails the role of Mother Superior in both acts, and the ending is so inspirational!

  • Amazing talent!

by Confusee on 11/20/12Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I would have liked the story to have included the essential element of the nuns' growing relationships with the neighborhood residents. That said, I found the talent to be exceptional and sensitive to the characters they portrayed. The comedy was well placed, the choreography was fun to watch.

  • a fun time was had by all

This is a fun show that was lifted by the talents of its two female leads whose singing was outstanding. The supporting males were good for comic relief and fun to watch. This show will have your toes tapping. I liked the costumes, especially the sequined habits the nuns wore at the end.

  • Sister Act was a great production

by narlockm on 11/20/12Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

We bought tickets to the show assuming it would be entertaining. I t turned out to be so much more! The talent was outstanding. It would be hard to say which character was best because they all gave 110%. The writers never missed an opportunity put in clever one liners and the cast played off each other in a timely manner. The voices were amazing! Even though we were unfamiliar with the songs, they were all delivered with passion and musical talent. The costumes were fantastic. The house was standing at the end, hoping it wouldn't end. It was an excellent, fun production. We would definetly see it again when it comes to our home town.

Great singing and dancing with a little drama thrown in. Wonderful family fun show.

  • A Great Night Out!

by Anonymous on 11/19/12Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

A funny musical that made for a great night out.The singers were wonderful-they all had great voices-and the dancing was great too. The only downfall was that none of the songs from the movie were used. Not too big of a deal though because the ones that were used were great. Would definitely recommend seeing this show.

Sister Act is extremely entertaining. Although mostly a comedy, there are seroius moments. All of the voices were quite good.

  • Very enjoyable!

Sister Act was a great show. i was not expecting much but was very pleasantly surprised. The staging was very clever. especially appreciated the subtle changes in the stained glass backdrop. The performers all had excellent voices and were very professional and believable in their roles (not hokey). The costumes were beautiful, especially the sequined nun outfits. Definitely, recommend Sister Act!!

  • Sister Act is definately work seeing.

I bought my mother tickets for her birthday, and it was definitely worth the money! We were pretty far back and were still able to see and hear everything. The best play I have seen since Wicked. The actress playing Deloris did Whoopi justice.

  • Beautiful Voices in Sister Act

    by Chicagofan20 on 11/19/12Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Wonderful strong voices along with very good acting. I was a little disappointed in the size of the cast. I guess some of the advertising led me to believe that it was larger. Still, the strong voices, good music, and clean humor made for quite an uplifting show.

  • Great for the whole famliy, but rather kitschy

    by joker6solitaire on 11/19/12Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Very cute and feel-good, but much of the music was repetitive, with lyrics that often failed to add or reveal new thoughts from the singer(s). I was disappointed in the lack of sophisticated music and humor. However, I would recommend it for a family with children, as long as you're okay with hearing a little "hell" or "Jesus Christ!" language.

  • Sister Act was excellent

Music, singing, dancing and orchestra were all outstanding. Very enjoyable evening.

  • If you loved the movie . . .

    by 2945jkmr on 11/19/12Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

If you've seen the movie, don't bother seeing this version. All the great songs from the movie were replaced with mediocre Broadway ditties. The staging was boring and the drama of the chase scenes was missing. All the actors and their voices were great, so I recommend going to see it, but don't expect much if you loved the movie!

lots of fun...great voices! my 10 year old loved it as well.

  • Sister Act Was A Great Act!

    by Gator53 on 11/19/12Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing Sister Act the Musical was like a stroll back through the movie. While the songs were different than the original movie, they were energetic and aligned with the plot. The actresses & actor were outstanding and you could clearly see the resemblences to those in the movie! Everyone did an excellent job at portraying their character.

I wasn't looking forward to this play in the series because I didn't think it would be very good. Wow, was I surprised. The entire show/music, etc., was so much fun! We thoroughly enjoyed it.
