About

Shin Lim on Tour

Catching Shin Lim in the act is unlike watching any other magician perform. Instead of making people disappear or sawing them in half, he simply concentrates on card tricks. But he raises the level of his sleight of hand with a deck of cards to a fine art.

There's drama, music, and a kind of a ballet to Lim's magic. And he's known for performing his illusions without uttering a word, letting his hands and his cards do all the talking while his carefully curated music — Lim started out as a musician — tickles the audience's ears. If you've seen him in one of his many television appearances, be it Penn & Teller: Fool Us, America's Got Talent, or Jimmy Kimmel Live, then you've experienced only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a Shin Lim live performance.

Shin Lim Background

Born in Vancouver to Singaporean parents and raised in Massachusetts, Shin Lim had two passions in his youth: music and magic. He was studying music in college when he learned that he was suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. This discovery caused him to abandon playing the piano in favor of becoming a professional magician.

He got one of his first big breaks when he was given the chance to tour in China. Since he didn't speak the language, he kept silent during his tricks, and that practice became a signature of his shows. Bringing a bold, unprecedented artistry to the realm of card tricks, Lim really began to hit it big when he worked his magic on TV's Penn & Teller: Fool Us in 2015. The performance became a social media sensation that elevated his profile dramatically. Since then, he's frequently appeared on TV, twice becoming a winner on America's Got Talent. And he tours widely, taking his illusions everywhere from Las Vegas to Broadway.

  • Best show ever...

Shin Lim and Collin Cloud were amazing. I have seen "magic" shows in person for over 50 years...people like Mark Wilson, Doug Henning, Sigfried & Roy, David Copperfield, Lance Burton, Harry Blackstone Jr., plus a bunch of other magicians thanks to Tannen's Magic Shop in NYC...but these two men do things that are impossible. If you want to have your mind blown, go see this show.

We couldn’t believe the magic from Shin on America’s Got Talent when we saw it on television. I vowed to try to see him in person so when we saw he was doing a few weeks in Las Vegas we booked it. Freaking AMAZING - between Shin and “mentalist” Colin Cloud, with “right before your eyes” close-up magic - fantastic show! Highly recommend!

This was an amazing show. Collin Cloud a mind reader opened up the show and him and Shin Lim took turns performing acts. There was never a dull moment and both acts were impressive. I went with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed the show. I would highly recommend anyone to go see it.

  • Awesome off the charts

by Zac on 10/29/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Saturday night Carole Ritchey Bruce and I attended an evening at the Majestic entertained by mentalist Colin Cloud and slight of hand artist Shin Lim. The performances can be described as absolutely fantastic and truly mind blowing. The sold out performances involved tremendous audience participation as both performers were personable and warm as they presented their unique and mind blowing talents. At the end of the evening we attended a meet and greet where Carole introduced a card trick to Shin Lin to top off a wonderful evening. #soenjoyedbyall

  • OMG!

by TYO on 10/29/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I can't say enough about Shin Lims show. We went to the Saturday show at the Majestic and loved it so much we went to the Sunday show too. For Sundays show we sat in the front row and still have absolutely no idea how he does what he does. Amazing is the only word for it. I love magicians or sleight of hand artists and Shin is by far and away the best I've ever seen. His co-star Colin Cloud also from AGT was just as amazing. He's a mentalist and we have no idea how he does what he does either. Definitely see this show in Vegas or if it comes to your town and be prepared to be blown away.

  • He needs a new routine

by Mike on 10/29/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

It was a good show, but if you have seen his AGT show or his Penn and Teller Fool Us routines then this show has all the same tricks. He is awesome at what he does and a master at sleight of hand. You are mostly watching on the big screen to view the routine. I wish he would have changed his routine from his past tv experiences.

  • Shim is the man! Needs better venue!

    by J. on 10/29/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

Show was excellent as expected. The venue in the other hand I believe should have been more adaptable as far as projector image and sound. There where some points in the show that the visuals where not clear and the sound a bit low. The acts where superb!!

I'm in awe with both Shin Lim and Colin Cloud! They are simply amazing! The card trick with the audience worked for me! Shin's abilities and talents are incredible! Colin's mind reading is mind-blowing and very entertaining! I'm a fan! Good luck to them both!

  • Great Show!

by Ives on 10/29/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

Great Show, would've love to see more of Shim Lim himself, I am a big fan so it was great seeing him live. kiddos really enjoyed it as well. When we entered the event no one gave us the envelope that was needed for the very beginning of the trick, all six of us had to watch others doing the trick and that was not very fun. The staff should've been more diligent about passing those out.

  • Great Show

  • Mind Blown!

    by S.M. on 10/29/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Shin Lim and Collin Cloud are two incredible performers. We saw them in Vegas in July and were so impressed but the Dallas show was even more incredible. Each show is unique because of the audience participation but we are still just blown away by these two performers and even got to see "Natsu the pom" performed a magic act! These guys are on fire. And if you get the chance to do a meet & greet - do it! They are so genuine and down to earth. Fans for life!!!

  • Fun but familiar

by Dan on 10/29/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

The show was definitely fun. It was set up with alternating sets between Mr. Lim and Colin Cloud (we hadn't heard of him). Mr. Lim performed card and slight of hand tricks while Mr. Cloud was more of a Mentalist. We enjoyed ourselves, but would've preferred to see Mr. Cloud's full set and then have Mr. Lim come out to finish the show. Also, Mr. Lim's card tricks were almost all the same from his performances on America's Got Talent and Fool Us with Penn & Teller without much in the way of new tricks. That was a tad disappointing since we purchased tickets to see any new material he might have. Overall, it was a fun show but I would take into account the cost of tickets and previous familiarity with the artist's work.
