About

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together over a hundred of the world's foremost classically trained Chinese dancers, choreographers, musicians, and vocalists. It also boasts the world's only full orchestra that embraces both Western and Chinese instruments as its permanent members.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is distinguished by its conscious effort to remain independent of China's communist regime, which has abused and impoverished the arts for decades. It is proud to thus include members who practice Falun Gong. The company aspires to create original performances that not only entertain, but also more deeply educate, enrich, and inspire. The company's rich repertory is drawn from the pages of history, universal themes, and the world around us. All choreography and music performed are original.

    Enjoyable but overhyped

by jopkins on 3/8/24Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

The show was definitely professionally done. Full of color and well executed But it did not reach me. Had there been more write-up about the myths and history of each story it may have reached me better. If you have not seen it it is a series of Vignettes from China But no detail of their history is given. For me it was repetitive.

    Propaganda not so enjoyable

by MK on 3/6/24Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

The dance, costumes and sets were enjoyable. What was not was being preached at about how atheism and evolution are evil. If I’d done my homework before the show I’d never have given them money. My mom did enjoy the dance portions.

    Show for everyone

by Milagros on 3/6/24Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

A show perfect for everyone. It is colorful, diverse, and very well presented. I really love the wardrobe and the digital background and special effects. Live music add a special touch. The venue was perfect for the occasion

    Colorful and awe inspiring

by Gordy on 3/5/24Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Amazing night of beautiful dancing. Storyline told of events before each amazing scene. Music and singing with special performers. Colorful robes and costumes flowing across the stage in harmony. Truly eloquent. Spectacularly skilled acrobatics . Wonderful classical experience.

    Wonderful dancing

We enjoyed the show but it did not live up to the hype (way too much advertising).

    Shen Yun

by NancyS on 3/5/24Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

I found it interesting, but also confusing. There was no direct story line to follow. I appreciated the narration before each dance. I do believe it's an important massage that is being represented. I'm glad I went. Even though the show completely changes each year I don't believe I would go again, or I would wait a few years before I would see it again.

    Colorful

by Danny on 3/5/24Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

I will be going back again. The show is one of the most beautiful displays of what the human body can do through dancing. The bright colors of the clothing and the background screen are enchanting. After the host’s described the performance, you understood and saw exactly that through the dance. Beautiful singing and instruments as well. It really drew me in. Amazing
