Shen Yun Performing Arts is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together over a hundred of the world's foremost classically trained Chinese dancers, choreographers, musicians, and vocalists. It also boasts the world's only full orchestra that embraces both Western and Chinese instruments as its permanent members.
Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is distinguished by its conscious effort to remain independent of China's communist regime, which has abused and impoverished the arts for decades. It is proud to thus include members who practice Falun Gong. The company aspires to create original performances that not only entertain, but also more deeply educate, enrich, and inspire. The company's rich repertory is drawn from the pages of history, universal themes, and the world around us. All choreography and music performed are original.

The precision dancers were incredible. Not one mistake was spotted. Would I go again? No I would not. Without the narrators you would be totally lost and even then the performances didn’t convey what the story was supposed to be. The ticket price was just not with the show in my opinion.
Skilled dancers, creative choreography, excellent orchestra, superb colorful costumes and well worth the money.
We arranged this as a Birthday Gift/ Get together and we EXTREMELY happy. It was so beautiful and so well put together that we have been talking about it ever since. What a wonderful experience! Thank you!
It is easy to see why the show is so popular. The talent is incredible. The dances, video, and costumes are beautiful and flowing. The acrobatics are amazing. It was educational … we now know more about China and its history and various regions. There is an agenda that a show like this could do without, but I understand why it is there and the need to be a voice for many who cannot. Well done!
Great seats, fun show. The dances, video screen, singing and orchestra performance were all beautiful. However, evolution is very real per the scientists.
The dancing and acrobatics were good but the show wasn't quite what we were expecting. It was a series of skits played out in dance and music. I've been in four stage plays and seen a number of them as an audience member and I didn't feel that the performance was any better than community theater.
Loved the culture and dance that each scene told a story. Music was beautiful also the one violin type instrument was interesting and beautiful sound. I gave one star less because both singers were horrible. It literally hurt my ears.
This is a must see!! Fantastic work. Loved the colors and the art of it!!
The women dancers were beautiful and wonderful to watch and the men's acrobatic moves were impressive. We were expecting the whole program to be like that. However, that made up only about half the program at best. The rest consisted of the men dancing (not that great), some plays, and two (horrible) singers. Our party of 6 were all disappointed.
Very nice, would go back again. Everything was on point.
Program was a bit too long. The dancer's were spectacular and the costumes were just what I expected from seeing it advertised. I did not think much of the message the singers were putting forth.
My expectation from the marketing material and the high ticket price was to see a professional show combining Chinese ballet with Cirque de Soleil-like acrobatics. This production was a propaganda-filled disappointment. The animation integration of the screen was so poor that it made me laugh out loud. I did enjoy the classic Chinese dance for both the men and women. The orchestra was very good although much too quiet and the soloists for piano and Chinese instruments were wonderful. The singing was painful. Some of the costumes were gorgeous but many looked like they were designed for a high school play. I left wondering how this show is still in production from 2006.
We were lucky to have front row seats. We could see the faces of the phenomenal orchestra and watch as they beat on the drums or use the bow of the violin or plucked on the strings of the harp or Chinese instruments Or pursed their lips for the flute or other wind instruments. Just feet from them we could see the phenomenal athleticism and beautiful smiles of the Chinese dancers. The host and the hostess working hand-in-hand kept a smile on our faces. It was professional, colorful, melodic, and I love the storytelling behind each of the scenes. The two solo artists and the accompanying pianist were wonderful to listen to. To know that they change up the routine every year, even though they might come back to the same City leaves me wanting more.
I went to the show to see the costumes and the dance but felt that there were way too many political overtones which detracted from it.
I was grateful my tickets showed up on the phone! It was beautiful! The story is something everyone should see!
This show was not what I had expected. I found it to be a bit religious, which is not a bad thing. I expected more aerial during the performance, however the backscreen was a very nice effect. The costumes were pretty on the women & I loved the way they flowed across the floor. This is a show i would not see again.
Highest quality performance, orchestra, costumes, and acoustics.
Loved the show!! Can’t wait until next time!! My Daughter had a blast.. This was all for her as a special Birthday Present.. Best Mom Ever!
Shen Yun was a very athletic event. I did not expect that. The performance was extremely beautiful. Not only did we have a performance on stage, but we also had a three-dimensional video background which became the performers on stage. The coordination between the background and the performance was an absolute delight to behold. We had a wonderful day and evening. Shen Yun was the frosting on the cake. The only reason that I didn't give a five-star rating is because I was unable to clearly understand what the narrators said. Even though I was using hearing aids, I couldn't hear what they said.
