Sketchfest is a highlight to start the year! Lots of comedy and lots of venues! It's our go-to kickoff for the New Year and Cobb's is one of the many great venues to enjoy it in. This year there's a lot at Cobb's - we're seeing 4 shows there - and Cobb's provides good drinks and food to go with the show.
Oh, man!! It was so much FUN 𤊠seeing Maggie Lawson, and Tim Omundson!! And Jenny Varney!! Just awesome!! I wonât forget this anytime soon!!
I traveled all the way across the country just to see this one show in particular, so I may be a bit biased when I say it was everything I hoped for and more. Hilarious and delightful with great hosts and great guests, plus I got to pet some dogs! The venue is in such a neat location, tucked in a nice little park one floor above street level. The staff was wonderful, with cheerful door-staff and quick waitstaff. 10/10 would recommend!
Great concept (Fake Ted Talks) and some of the sketches were quite funny. Some were not. So not quite 5 stars, but a good show.
Her standup is funny. Podcast was disappointing. Went with a group of 6 people and one literally fell asleep.
Seriously: pace yourself. I haven't seen a show yet that didn't satisfy my funny bone.
Once again, Cobb's is hosting several SF Sketchfest events including this one based on Andy Richter's podcast "3 Questions". As usual, the staff at Cobb's was friendly and efficient. The event itself was quite interesting. The premise of the podcast is Andy asks 3 questions (Where are you from? Where are you going? What have you learned?) of his guest. This also the audience to understand the guest (and Andy) better by going into their background and motivation. It was quite interesting and we enjoyed the discussion.
I so looked forward to a funny relaxing night out. Brought my 18 year old and my husband. The Beer selection is terrible for IPA drinkers. And sad to say Mr glaser but I felt so let down. When the real jon glaser came on at the end and said he had 90 minutes I was like oh thank god now we get a funny show. But tragically he just ended the show. That was it!! What?!?!?! Felt like a kick in the shins and I was already hurtin! Why would u do that?! Disappointing night. I do like Mr glaser, watched several Segments on YouTube prior and LOL, thought he was super funny. Just did not care for this particular act. (Bought two tickets using gold star luckily.)
Waste of time and money! It felt like I got punked. Not worth the $110 I spent on tickets to show my friends how fun Cobbâs Comedy Club is (I thought.) I will never go back after that experience.
Arden Myrin was a dazzler of a host, Erin Foley knock it out as a cohost, Paget Brewster gave great commentary as did the other guest whose names I donât recalll adding their insight. Almost makes me want to watch the tv show.
Great show, Donnelly was funny and after the show he talked with us! Great person!
All three of the performing comedians were excellent. My girlfriend and I had such a good time. The drinks at Cobb are actually pretty code, and the food is much better than you would expect. A big shout out to Laurie Kilmartin, her routine was hilarious!
April Richardson, Laurie Kilmartin and Lizz Winstead were a terrific trio. The three of them had us laughing all night long.
The show didn't seem very well put together to be honest. Completely get that Raphael Bob-Waksberg was throwing up which is not something you can prepare for but I did buy tickets to this to specifically hear him speak. It would be as if I bought tickets to a Coldplay show, Chris Martin got sick, but the band decided to play anyways. Sure, I'd be happy to hear the music that I love performed by most of the people that made it but I'd kinda want some sort of recourse for Chris Martin not being there to be honest.
The moderator kept interjecting his own experience with anime shows he used to write for. Very distracting... I can see why this person does not have a full time comedy job...
The girls were so engaging and funny. It was a great show to see even if you weren't a follower of the podcast.
My first poor Sketchfest experience in four years. Was looking forward to TV's comedic belle, Natasha Leggero and didn't mind that she was paired up with a bunch of dudes I had never heard of. The host set the bar low with a bit about stuffing raisins in his rectum as a child. A couple of the comics produced mildly amusing anecdotes. Then comes Jon Benjamin, best known as the talking tin can in "Wet Hot American Summer." His 'bit" was that he doesn't do "jokes." Edgy? Meh. Lame and unfunny? Yes. Then some buddy of his shows up in the crowd wearing Bane's mask from Batman. Uninspired, barely improvised banter ensues. Then, lights up. Leggero nowhere to be found, her absence never mentioned. Thought maybe I had clicked on the wrong event link until I found some tiny announcement on the Sketchfest FB page about her having to cancel. Waste of an evening.
I went to six different sketchfest events. This and kids in the hall were far and away my favorites.
I loved Jessica and Phoebe. They were hilarious. Most of acts were amazing.
