    nutcracker was good however....

by gggDanig on 12/24/12Warner Theatre - Washington

There were alot of children there and their parents let them talk the entire preformance which was just rude and disrepectful. I asked to have my seats moved and the staff was very helpful. Also my grandmothers could not see because of peopkes heads in the way.

I am not an expert in ballet, but do enjoy listening to the music and watching the dances. The dancers put on a great and entertaining performance. However, I was very disappointed that there was no LIVE music, considering what the ticket prices were. I also did not realize that the entire ballet had a different setting and so did not have the same dances as the classic.

    Septeme's Nutcracker was genius!

by linpil on 12/22/12Warner Theatre - Washington

Septeme Weber's Nutcracker in Washington DC was phenomenal. He has a historic and humorous spin on the original Nutcracker that makes it exciting to see because it's a spin off of the old classic. The new roles are full of life and entertainment, and there are moments that the dancers involve the audience as well. I would recommend that anyone who hasn't seen it must go see it at least once in their life. Septeme Weber is an artistic genius!

    Very nicely done

The ballet was a very good experience. It was beautifully done.

The Nutcracker was exceptionally well done!

by PaulBinDC on 12/22/12Warner Theatre - Washington

Every year I see a few productions of the Nutcracker as it is a tradition. This was one of the best I have seen anywhere in the US. It was creative and well executed.

    Nutcracker good but ...

by Bcoppertoned on 12/22/12Warner Theatre - Washington

Loved seeing the Warner Theatre, the show was good but it's variation of the original missed the mark for me. At first it was great but after the intermission it seemed to drag a bit. Overall though very good show and very talented performers!!

    So-so

by GDHJDCCO on 12/21/12Warner Theatre - Washington

I was looking for a traditional rendition of the Nutcracker, and this was not. Instead of using senior members of the ballet corps, many of the roles were played by children. Its fun for families, but not for someone looking for a high-caliber professional production. Those roles played and danced by the senior members of the corps were excellent, but there weren't that many.

    Recorded music. Ew.

by InArlington on 12/21/12Warner Theatre - Washington

The show was the same as every year, very nice...but for the ticket price is it disappointing to have recorded music. The music is uneven, distant and sounds cheap. We have gone to this show for many years, but after enjoying live music last year and hearing the difference, I do not think we will return if the recorded music persists. I would have difficulty recommending this to a friend.

    disappointing

by pjnn on 12/21/12Warner Theatre - Washington

Canned music, rushed score, stage crowded by cute kids but not much to recommend this performance. I go to ballet to see leaps, not jumping by tots.

Nutcracker at the Warner Theater in DC

    by murphyr77 on 12/18/12Warner Theatre - Washington

Customer Service was great w/ LiveNation. I bought for the wrong date, and they were super helpful in letting me change it in less than 24 hours with no fees. There was a hicup w/ the changed date matching my e-tickets, but got through it w/ little fanfare. Printed my tickets at home. The theater was amazing. And my seats were so freakin' close. Row J is way closer to the stage than the website for the theater shows on seating charts. Also out in the lobby for us parents, there are TVs for watching the show if the little ones get loud and you have to take them outside. The theater is close to a metro stop (Metro Center) and lots of restaurants/bars if you want to eat before or after the show. And the show was very good. I didn't realize there would be such young performers in the DC Ballet. Great experience overall.

    This Nutcracker was awesome

    by Lou1938 on 12/18/12Warner Theatre - Washington

A break from the traditional renderings, this Nutcracker pops with refreshing costuming and imaginative sets. These provided solid backing for scene after scene of very high lefel performances, occasionally marred by difficulties with timing in some of the group performances. The inclusion of many roles for the children and colorful costuming offered delightful punctuation to the soloists and the adult corps. A treasure!

    Washington Ballet "Nutcracker" Fantastic

by Sturmvogel on 12/18/12Warner Theatre - Washington

This is the third time seeing this production in the past 4 years and it never gets old. My idea of entertainment doesn't involve people leaping and spinning on a stage (although a football field is fine), but this gets added to my entertainment list!

    Beautiful Dancing

by Motherdaughternight on 12/18/12Warner Theatre - Washington

The dancing and sets were absolutely beautiful. A live orchestra would have made it a 5-star event. Thank you for a great mother-daughter night outing.

    Excellent Production Distracting Staff

by TeamPL on 12/17/12Warner Theatre - Washington

This was my first opportunity to see the Nutcracker in Warner Theater and your Colonial theme. The company did a beautiful job and I really enjoyed the references to American History. I wish there had been a live orchestra since sometimes the music was a little out of time with the dancers. Also, we were in the balcony in the very back row and for nearly the entire second half of the show, the staff and ushers were opening and closing a door marked "private" and chatting. This noise was very distracting especially after the admonition to the audience at the beginning of the show. We will more than likely be back but definitely choose different seats.

    Lovely performance

by GregNAmy on 12/17/12Warner Theater - Washington DC

The performance was very good. The choreographer Septime Webre came out before the show to "instruct" the audience of correct ballet etiquette. And even though I have been before, I thought it was educational. I sat Orchestra Left which were good seats for all but one "cute" incident that took place out of view - it must have been cute 2/3 of the theater "awwed" and laughed. I liked the geographical twist on the set design. Being from Louisiana - they perform a Nutcracker on the Bayou here. In DC - there were monuments in the background and during the Sugar Plum Fairy dance it was springtime with Cherry Blossoms all around. The Nutcracker resembled George Washington even. I'm not a Nutcracker fan - but now I'm curious what kind of twists other locations put on their performances.

    Five Stars if Live Orchestra

by Jengerbread on 12/17/12Warner Theatre - Washington

The costumes, sets and dancers were all fabulous. I love this show and see it every year wih my daughter since she was 5; she is now 24. I miss the live orchestra, which bought my rating down to 4 stars.

    Nutcracker

    by JnDC12 on 12/17/12Warner Theatre - Washington

My nine year old and I had great seats which I think makes a difference. The performance was done very well with a little modern flair, and both my son and I had a great time. This was his first ballet, and he is on the Autism Spectrum. I did explain to him about some of the scenes and what the music meant.
