Seattle Kraken History

The Seattle Kraken played their inaugural season during the NHL's 2021-2022 season as the 32nd franchise. They are the first professional hockey team to play in Seattle since the Seattle Metropolitans, who were the first American hockey team to win the Stanley Cup in 1917.

The Kraken earned their first win in franchise history on October 14, 2021, a 4-3 victory against the Predators in Nashville. The win came in their second game played during the 2021-22 season. The Kraken completed their first-ever season in the NHL with a 27-49-6 record and 60 points. In the 2023 NHL Playoffs, the Kraken eliminated the Colorado Avalanche, winning 2-1 in Game 7 to become the first expansion team to beat the reigning Stanley Cup champs in their playoff debut.

    Incredible place

    by A. G. on 11/8/22

Just saying, all of you complaining about ticket prices need to understand that the arena is technically sold out for every game and this is people reselling their tickets. So blame the season ticket holders that decide the price they sell the tickets at, the Kraken have nothing to do with the price you pay.

Fun time but everything much too expensive

    by R. P. on 11/1/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Hockey game was fun but .. $170 for seats four rows from the top of the arena is just too expensive. I will not pay that price again to sit that high up. $9 dollars for a soft drink. Are you guys insane? $15 dollars for a hamburger? A middle class person can not attend a hockey game in Seattle. The arena itself is nice. But only the rich will ever see the inside of it.

Why is the walkway to the suites in my way

by Mike Fulop on 10/30/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

It was pretty ugly and distracting looking at the suite levels/press box doors instead of the 2 large jumbotrons and celebrating crowd. A buzz kill to see corporates and announcers go in and out of their suites.

If you can give it negative stars I would.

by Baseball Fan on 10/20/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

We bought over 15 tickets and went as a group. My wife's purse was considered too big so they wouldn't let us into the game (unaware of this policy). Two other ladies with our group, their purses were bigger than my wifes and they were allowed in. We took a uber back to capitol hill and went home. Go Mariners and Seahawks.

    Let down

by Jimbob on 10/18/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

The arena is great but the uninspired play by the home team was a real drag. Do they understand that they have to play

    Fun

This was our first Kragen game and first time in Climate Change Arena. Great view of the game and a fantastic arena

    Terrible

by Rocko on 9/30/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

When I purchased these tickets no where did it say it was a pre-season(exhibition game). Then at the arena we purchase some food for a total of $112 for a family of 4, and their was no condiments and the soda machine was out of most of the soda selections.

2nd Seattle Trip, 1st Kraken Season

by Dodger Knight on 5/6/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Originally, the premise of this 2nd ever visit to Seattle, WA was to be my 5th overall San Jose Sharks regular season road trip. As the trip progressed, I felt that it was more about being a part of history. In 1999, I was fortunate to be part of the Seattle Mariners Inaugural Season at the brand new Safeco Field; now in 2022, being a part of the Seattle Kraken's Inaugural NHL Season was a "coming full circle" moment. Despite being a fan of the Kraken's opponents, I felt so honored to be a part of Seattle Kraken history when I received the "2021-22 Inaugural Member" patch, which was the Fan Appreciation Night giveaway. That patch was way WAY better than the shirsey (don't ask!) that the San Jose Sharks gave away on their Fan Appreciation Night. That patch was just the beginning, as I got more than I bargained for with the reusable bag at our seats and then the prize t-shirt courtesy of Muckleshoot Casino upon exit. I liked the bottomless soda cup. The pregame video was cool; that's the genius of Jerry Bruckheimer and former WWE senior director Jonny Greco. Best of all, thank you to the Seattle Kraken fans for nurturing a welcoming environment and allowing me to enjoy some of your team's history.

    Such a fun time!

by KellersMama on 4/30/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

I think the arena is so beautiful and wonderfully crafted. There’s enough bathrooms and vendor stands so hardly any lines! The seating is a little narrow but other than that, no complaints! We’re excited to come back to another game.

Venue with environment in mind, fans not so much.

by Tabatha on 4/30/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

The venue is impressive with its modern and environmentally aware design. However, the tickets are overpriced for an expansion team and the views are ok. The food is well overpriced at $24 for nachos (are you kidding.) and they are marketing and serving lavish style brats, cookies, etc that after tasting, do not meet expectations. My overall impression is that the Kraken management is catering to a select group of people. I’ve attended sporting events across the nation at various levels, and to be fair, I think they are trying a very modern approach to a very traditional sport. Personally, it wasn’t the hockey experience that I know and love. Other make like it.

Fun games, poorly designed male restrooms

by Doctor Philgood on 4/30/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

These games are really fun, they do a good job keeping the fans entertained, even when the team isn't doing very well. The guys' restrooms were designed poorly - the lines going in have to cross the lines going out, and it makes for an awkward situation.

    Fun Time

by Brandie on 4/25/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Overall the event was fun! I would say there was way too much going between each play.

    Disappointed

by Todd on 4/23/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Climate Pledge Arena felt less than good. Cramped walkways and seating, very quiet with poor sight lines due to depth of seating depending on level. Arena makes me sad for a potential Sonics return.

    Great upgrade

by Megan19Nicole on 4/23/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

CPA was great. They upgrade that was done, the layout that it’s in, the sounds system…everything was pretty great. My only complaint would be that, the signage to get you to your seat and other attractions throughout the arena was confusing and difficult to find. I really wanted to see the Plant Wall, but had no idea where it was located. And I had no idea the team store was down a level. Other than that, my experience was great.

Disappointed / No Ushers / No Fan Awareness

by Solid Kraken Fan on 4/23/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Unless you spent lower bowl money, you will not reliably have an usher. Even if you do, they may not stop traffic during play. CPA/Kraken do absolutely nothing to educate fans that you do not get up during play (wait for a whistle), nor do you return to your seat during play (wait the stairwell). The ONLY exceptions to this are children and older people who cannot wait for the bathroom (understandably) and no one ever minds that. However, if you paid several hundred dollars to watch hockey and what you get is constantly having to dodge people blocking your view of the ice, you're going to be upset. No announcements at the start of the period or game. CPA spends two minutes telling you not to fight or swear, etc, but does nothing at all to educate the fans about how this ruins the sport. It's not baseball or football, and this is universal hockey etiquette. Be warned, Fans Of Other Teams Visiting Seattle For A Game, you will *not* be able to see the ice much of the time and no one will have any idea why they are angrily being yelled at (in fact, if you yell "Sit down!" or "Wait for the whistle!", you will prolong the time they are blocking your view while they try to decipherwhat you mean. Zero clue. Thanks CPA/Kraken. Trust me -- stay home and watch it on TV unless you can afford the lower bowl (that's NOT section 1--, it's the sections with only one or two numbers -- section 1, 12, etc. Section 1-- and 2-- are nothing but blocked views by new fans). Gave same review in October. This one was written in late April. So, so sad to see so much effort and money go into this team and this is how they treat the fan experience. USHERS + EDUCATE -- and remind at the start of every period like they do in every other NHL and minor league venue!

    Kraken games

by Ken on 4/19/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Went twice this season. Love the games. Staff is great. Prices are high for everything but what isn't these days. Parking is not great but always try to get there early to get good spot. The traffic is the problem leaving the arena. But when you get 17000 people leaving at once it is to be expected. I live in Tacoma so the public transportation isn't really in the cards. All in all I've enjoyed myself

    Devils/Kraken

by Devils/Kraken on 4/19/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

We had a great time at this game. There isn’t a single bad seat in the arena. Bathrooms were clean and plentiful. The food and drink options were fantastic. We will be back for more events.

    All five senses blown

by Matthew on 4/6/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

The Kraken experience at the CPA was a feast for the body and mind. And soul, for I miss my Seattle home. The view from my seat was excellent. The Twins showed me funny videos and facts I didn’t know. The team played with vigor. The fans responded in kind and were respectful as well. There was something for everyone in the place. A wonderful time was had.

    Annoyed by other fans

by Mel on 4/4/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Our seats were fine, until the people behind us started talking about EVERYTHING except the game. They were so loud, that we had to put our noise-cancelling ear buds in just to drown them out. It didn't work, so we left and stood around the rest of the game, just so that we could watch it. It was a horrible experience.
