About

Sarah McLachlan became one of most distinctive female vocalists after breaking out in the ’90s behind singles such as “Building a Mystery” and “I Will Remember You.” The Halifax, Nova Scotia native released her debut album Touch in 1988 and logged her first Hot 100-charting singles with 1994’s Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. Her 1997 effort Surfacing debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and hosted her three highest-charting Hot 100 singles: “Building a Mystery,” at No. 13, “Adia” at No. 3 and “Angel” at No. 4. The album went on to win two Grammy Awards. Surfacing also coincided with the first Lilith Fair, the wildly successful all-female touring festival co-founded and hosted by McLachlan that took place from 1997 through 1999 and became the top-grossing music festival of the late-’90s. 2003’s Afterglow marked McLachlan’s third consecutive Top 10 album, and she maintained that streak with studio albums released through 2014’s Shine On. McLachlan has won 12 JUNO Awards and in 2017 was inducted into The Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Really well organized event! Enjoyed the line-up of artists.

  • My first Lilith

by MusicMusicMusic on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

First Lilith Fair. Gorge is an amazing place to see anyone play. Ticketmaster said event started at 2:30 but they didn't open the doors until 2:30.... Three stages and we missed the first (unknown to us but I heard they were good) performers on the two smaller stages as we waited in line to get through security and into the venue. Main stage didn't start for a couple more hours but we got our spot staked out right away. Colbie Caillat, Erykah Badu, Sheryl Crow, Sugarland, Sarah MacLachlan. Wow! Each artist got 50 minutes with 10 minutes between for set changes. Everyone was great. Sugarland got everyone on their feet as the sun set and temps cooled. Sarah's voice live is honestly AMAZING. You can hear her songs on the radio a hundred times and never realize what a voice she has. Only Sarah did a encore at the very end.

  • Lilith was low-key and awesome!

by hollyrene on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

We got there around 1ish, wandered into line around 1:30 or so and managed to make it into the amphitheater around 3pm. The weather was perfect in the mid-70s and sunny! There were fans everywhere and we had a great time making our way through the afternoon and taking a peek at all the fun stuff available to look at and buy. Good parts: weather, sound, multiple stages timed so acts did not overlap, great souvenir selection, tasty food, easy parking for both arriving and leaving. Bad parts: no visuals on screens which made it harder to see in the back, drinks were pricey (venue standard $10 for mixed drinks, $8 for beer), steep incline in grassy area made it a bit hard to dance.

  • Sara Unforgettable, the rest questionable

    by Knitter09 on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 3 out of 5

We were down in the seated area and the sound was muffled and loud. The sound up on the grassy area was better than our premium seats for all the acts except Sara's. That one was excellent. Why couldn't the sound be just a good as the Sara's? And what was up with ABC showing an episode of Cougar Town. It was not as good as the original and a bit disappointing

  • Lility Fair 2010 - Wonderful!!

by momtt on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing experience for us and our daughters. The performances were outstanding and the venue is so beautiful. Thank you for bringing Lility Fair back!!!!

  • Dont waste your money

by TravelinFan on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 2 out of 5

Poorly advertised. We didnt know until after we paid 275 per ticket that the bands we liked only played on certain dates. Upon entering the gate they were selling 10 upgrade from lawn to seat tickets. Bands were not worth the money. Showing of Cougartown between sets even more awful and offensive to crowd demographic. Major thumbs down!

  • Lilith was a bust

by Ducklover on 7/4/10Sleep Country Amphitheater (Amph at Clark County) - RidgefieldRating: 1 out of 5

After standing in line to get into the Amphitheater for over an hour. The concert was suppose to start at 2:30 and thats when we were allowed in. There was no place to sit and eat food. It started to rain and we were told that we could not go sit in the expensive seats we paid for until 5:30 and we would have to stand in the rain to watch the other performers until then. Since we both have health issues that would not allow us to stand for another three hours, we ended up giving the tickets away and leaving. I don't know if this was Lilith or the Amphitheater, but I would never go to either again. And none of this informatin was given to us a head of time so we could plan for it and they have a no re-enter rule.

  • Every act was superb!

by PaolaSeattle on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

We had an absolutely amazing day. Going into the concert, we were already fans of all the headliners: Colbie Caillat, Erykah Badu, Sugarland, & of course, Sarah McLachlan, and each one of them were at their best yesterday. They put on a great show for everyone at the Gorge, which is such an incredible venue for a concert. We are also now huge new fans of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals! If you haven't heard their stuff, check them out. Grace is also gorgeous, charismatic and friendly, and the Nocturnals are too :)

  • Fabulous is you plan properly

by JMCtacoma on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

The artists that played at the concert represented a wide array of music tastes This made it fun to experience an act that I might not buy a ticket for but get the opportunity to experience in this venue. I thought that the concert was well organized that bands got on and off the stage very quickly so there wasn' that horrible, boring wait time between bands. the sets were just long enought that you wanted more.... Upbeat, positive experience for especially women and the men seemed to be enjoying themselves equally as much! I attended this event with my adult daughter which made even more memorable.

  • Outstanding Venue and Performances

by digly on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

While the Gorge at George, WA is a bit of a sprawling complex and took time to navigate, it is one of the most beautiful natural venues in America, having the Columbia River directly behind the stage and a huge Gorge from one side of the river to the other. The performances were amazing, and each act covered an old song by another artist. Sugarland even performed an old Led Zepplin tune. Cheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan both brought out their oldest children during their last songs and people went wild. The show was a full day of great music and I wished it hadn't ended. Sarah McLachlan once again stole the show with her performance.

  • Lilith is THE Concert of 2010

    by 26weekends on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

If you like great music, good times and lots of wonderful photo opportunities then Lilith Fair is your event. The best venue is the Gorge. The only thing that was a bummer is that it was only one day.

  • Lilith was AMAZING!

by KickBaller on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

My first time at the gorge was an amazing experience!! What a beautiful venue. And what beautiful performances. Great staff, great experience, only bad part was when the music stopped, wish it could have gone all night.

  • Thank you, Sarah!

by WomanOnWalkabout on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

The venue and artists were phenomenal. I am now a huge fan of The Submarines! Erykah, Sheryl, Sugarland, and Colbie were fabulous. Thank you, Sarah, for bringing back Lilith! I'd not seen Sarah in concert before, have been a fan for years, and was just blown away. Blights on the day: -The sound mix for Sheryl Crow was horrid: bass was way to high as was the guitar, we could not hear her voice at all over the din. We were on the grass, center stage. -ABC delayed Sarah's show, and forced us to watch some insipid show for a half hour while we waited. Would have been 5 stars without this; it sucked.

  • Lilith Fair Amazing!

by blhm on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

I loved this concert! My favorite concert I've ever been to. These ladies rocked and know how to entertain. The Gorge is the perfect venue, loved everything about the night!

  • by DebbieBren on 7/4/10Sleep Country Amphitheater (Amph at Clark County) - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

It was Great even in the rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing time at Lilith!

    by kathy425 on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time at Lilith! Although I bought the tickets to watch only a few headliners, I enjoyed most of the bands! The setting and atmosphere were great and I will definitely be returning in the years to come!

  • Lilith Fair

by Anonymous on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing! I was SO inspired after seeing the show. The energy of the crowd was great and I wasn't disappointed with any of the performances. What a great way to celebrate women! I hope I get another chance to participate in the Lilith Fair in the NEAR future. The one and only complaint I have is the ticket sales. I thought it was DEFINITELY worth it to see and hear these amazing women on stage, but I bought my 3 tickets early and paid full price, as others purchased theirs last minute and paid less than 1/4 of the cost I did. So that was a little disappointing, but given the chance again, I would gladly pay the price to hear these ladies again. However, always a great show at the Gorge...it just doesn't get more beautiful. THANK YOU!

  • Sarah has, is and always will be the BOMB!

by angieb8290 on 7/4/10Sleep Country Amphitheater (Amph at Clark County) - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great with a few exceptions. Unfortunately, the NW weather did NOT cooperate with us and we got drenched. That was not the worst moment though. The worst was the organization of the staff. The two hands do not talk to each other and there was a lot of mis-communication in regards to the opening of the gates. People were turned away who had been waiting for hours only to return and see that very gate opening. VERY frustrating. Also, the timeline of getting everything pushed back and pushed back was frustrating as well. All the women artists were wonderful to watch and enjoy, the smaller stages were great too. Just the communication with the staff running the show was frustrating.

  • Sugarland is unbelievable!

by TashaJ on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

I saw the show twice, once at the Portland venue and once at the Seattle venue. Just amazing. Worth it even in the rain.

  • Lilith @ the Gorge

by TankGirl on 7/4/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

The line up of artists was great, there was something for everyone! I also liked how the smaller stage performances were staggered (by time) so you didn't have to choose between what acts you saw. I would of like to see a few more "main" artists in the line up, and have the show start earlier to accommodate that. Unfortunately, the ABC screening of "Cougar Town" was a low point! It wouldn't of happened at any other major concert . . . I didn't buy tickets to a concert to watch a TV show!
