The best Female Jazz vocalist I’ve had the pleasure of seeing, hearing, witnessing and experiencing for a second time in over 50 years - KWynn, 2024.

  • Phenomenal performance

by E W Johnson on 6/26/24New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

This young lady was awesome, so much vocal control plus a range that will leave you breathless. Give her a few more Grammys, because she sure deserves it!

  • AMAZING! Unbeatable!

by Jan on 6/26/24New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

How can one woman sing so varied in volume (so quiet to belting it out, tone & voice quality, range deep to super high? I kept shaking my head in disbelief, Samara's control of her voice is unequaled! Sometimes she sounds like the soprano sax, & others like a fine flute. She puts such feeling in her songs. Plus she's modest, always giving credit to her bandmembers.

  • AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!

Her voice is incredible. Although I listen to her music on Spotify, to experience her voice in person is incredible! Her range is outstanding! I can’t wait to see what this young lady grows into! And I will definitely see her again in concert!! There were point in the concert she made cry!! A beautiful voice!

  • An Enchanted Evening

by Nora Ash on 6/26/24New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

All the songs Samara Joy chose exhibited the depth of her singing range. She was gracious to set aside time for one or more musicians to share the scope of their skill with a limited solo within each selection. I would've liked to hear her perform a few of her well-known classics which drew me to her in addition to those new songs for which either she or the band members wrote the lyrics &/or the music respectively. I really appreciate the way NJPAC coordinated our exit with the parking by closing off the street during our departure. Needless to say, the theater itself is exquisite venue with a friendly, polite & helpful staff. The mature crowd made for a stress-free evening I'll remember for quite a while. I'm hopeful that we can return soon.

One of the greatest event I have attend. I saw Samara at the Mac Arthur Theater in Princeton last year. I could see the difference in her performance. Maturing and performing fabulously. More comfort with the audience. Great interacting and speaks very well. Great concert.

  • A Joy to the World

by Vickyde on 6/26/24New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Samara Joy sings like an angel. Billie Holiday, Charles Mingus and Thelonius Monk would be so proud of her lyrics to and renditions of their music. She is young, fun and so gracious in her gratitude to her parents (who were sitting behind us), her teachers and her loving audience. Her voice transcends the listener to joyous heights. Her band is young and getting better at each concert. So happy I could attend this concert with my son and enjoy old-school jazzy music with a fresh, amazing voice from this beautiful and super-talented singer.
