I am happy we got the opportunity to see Samara before the tickets goes up to $200+. She is so talented, I took my 15 yr old daughter who is a vocal major to the concert. My daughter was crying the whole performance, her voice and back up band was fantastic.
Some may have wanted more jazz standards from Ms. Joy, but this was billed as a holiday event. Her voice has power, control, and depth, whether singing jazz, Christmas tunes, or gospel. What I will remember was that she brought her family along, 4 of whom joined her on stage. This was more like being in their living room for the holidays than a concert. We will do the jazz set January through November. This evening will not likely happen again.
We spent a lot of cash for four overpriced scalped tickets through Ticketmaster to hear this wonderful singer for the first time. She is a gifted singer who deserves all the praise she gets, but this evening the selections were so dominated by Christmas tunes and her skilled and loving back up singers - family members - overstayed her stage. One Holiday music set with her family would have been perfect, capped off with a full set of standards. Instead, we heard a few standards and the rest of the fairly short concert was a singalong jazz music track. We loved her joyful sound and big heart but was disappointed with the misleading billing and brevity.
Outstanding Performance, with an extra treat with her family joining her in concert. Excellent!
It was so refreshing to hear not only Samara Joy (beautiful voice), but to have her family come out and sing all the Christmas songs was such a joy. My family came in from Atlanta, GA and this was our first outing for the Christmas holidays. The atmosphere was wonderful, food and drinks good, and we met a nice couple at our table. I enjoy the Birchmere, because everyone is able to see the show from any seat. Looking forward to seeing more shows as long as it is safe. Thank you Samara Joy for a wonderful evening.
Samora and her family were wonderful. They should do a Christmas album. Great way to bring in the Christmas celebration with singers who believe in Christ! Great voices and hope they make Alexandria an annual visit.
Samara has not only a great voice and delivery but her stage presence and repour with the audience is what makes her performance unique. I attend about two Jazz performances a month and this was the most fun I have had in a long time. If she continues to grow she will be filling the largest concert halls in America very shortly.
Samara Joy is a refreshing delight! Very honored to experience her live! Amazing vocals and stage presence will hook you. Then you marvel at her mastery at such a young age. She has a sweet, grounded and down to earth personality that endears her to her audience. Loved her story telling and 21st Century updates to fantastic jazz standards. The trio of musicians that also backed her were equally impressive. Loved everything about the evening. Hope she comes back to our city!
Impressed by Artist skills, maturity, and stage presence. Intend to acquire CD in near term..
It was thrilling to hear a group of musicians playing American Classical Music(Jazz). A group of twenty something’s playing with so much passion and sophistication that honored music and American composers of 70, 80, or 90 years ago.
Samara Joy is a very talented singer. Her performance was amazing.
This young lady’s voice and range is an anomaly. From start to finish, I was in awe of her talent. Those musicians are also a force to be reckoned with…wouldn’t blink to see her perform again!
Samara Joy has a voice that words cannot adequately describe. She has a sweet spirit that is palpable. She is a star. I’m not sure she knows it yet ❤️
