  • Joyful!!!

by Carol Ann on 12/17/24United Palace - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was a beautiful event that captured the spirit of the holiday season quite splendidly! Samara Joy is an amazing talent all by herself but to add the musicality of her family made for an even more memorable evening. The harmonious nature of their family dynamic, their voices and the pictures -- oh my -- the pictures were so very warm and inviting. My only regret is that this family were not my neighbors when I was growing up. The musical selections were all spot on whether it was a seasonal song or whether it was a song from Samara's Portrait album. There was no wasted time, space or energy. I had been waiting to catch Samara Joy for a couple of years now and to catch her at home, and for the holidays was indeed beyond joyful!!!

This is our second concert. Samara Joy and her family are so talented. This was our second concert and we look forward to going to more of her shows. I highly recommend her concerts.

Great music, great people, great venue, great talent and showmanship.

  • great vocals

by musetunes on 12/16/24United Palace - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

A vocalist like this is rare. I am so happy to get to hear her. But she needs to fire her sound mixers. The vocals were not out front like they should have been. There was also a problem last xmas at the Apollo theatre, where the vocals hurt your ears they were so crisp and biting. I'll see her again, but given her newfound wealth, I think she can afford to hire better sound engineers. Very sad she hasn't, it affects the audience. She needs to pay someone to just ride her vocal fader if she doesn't want to fire the actual sound engineer (whom I suspect may be a relative, like the rest of the stage).

  • Minblowing voice, venue could have done better

by Chiara on 12/16/24United Palace - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Samara is one of the most remarkable performers of her times, her voice and range are simply breathtaking. I was very much looking forward to her performance, and thoroughly enjoyed the concert. I wish she had performed more pieces solo, as one would have expected, including maybe only one or two pieces with her family, which is the opposite of what happened: she only sang 3 pieces from her new album, and the rest of the concert featured her entire family. The venue kept seating people even long after the concert had started, causing disruption for those of us who had arrived on time. And the audience in general was very vocal. Which again added color to the concert, but we were there to listen to Samara's voice, not the musical comments of the audience ;-)

  • What an amazing voice!!!

by Mary F. on 12/16/24United Palace - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Samara Joy is a delight! What an amazing voice! You can hear whispers of Ella Fitzgerald and yet her unique jazz style is simply mesmerizing. You can hear a pin drop when she sings, while the crowd exploded in appreciation for such talent! She’s from New York and only 25 years old. Felt like I was witnessing the start of one of the greats! The McClendon family was also very talented with her father Antoine McClendon leading the way in talent and extraordinary musicality! My second time seeing Samara Joy and definitely not my last!

  • Samara Joy comes from her fam!

by Cristobal on 12/16/24United Palace - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The sweet and versatile voice of Samara Joy comes from her fam! What a delightful and melodious bunch. Really got us into the Christmas Spirit by Ms. Joy showcasing her talents and those of her family. You could feel the family love (not in the conservative sense but in the sense of kinship) and how everyone is so proud of Ms. Joy and viceversa. Great holiday treat!

  • Amazing Voice, Beautiful Intimate Venue

by Dee on 11/14/24Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Samara Joy outdid herself. The vocal acrobatics and storytelling were top tier. The arrangements left us in awe. Pair that with an intimate venue with not a bad seat in the house made this a remarkable night. A little sad we couldn't stay for the signing because we had to relieve the babysitter but it was an incredible night out.

  • Fantastic!

This concert was phenomenal!! In person, Samara Joy is an even greater thrill! her voice- her versatility- the use of the stage and the grace with which she showers her band members- I will definitely be seeing her live again- It was a spectacular evening!

  • Jazz Personified

by 1JazzMaster on 11/11/24Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Her show was exquisite! Her Septet was amazing. You could see how in sync they’ve grown since the NJPAC earlier this year. It’s a must see outing and the Count Basie theatre was an awesome setting showcasing this rare and amazing artist.

  • Showed Out

Excellent performance and voice. Great seats and enjoy Samara’s interaction with the audience.

  • Not enough singing

by me on 11/11/24Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 2 out of 5

The concert did not flow There was too much talking about who did the arrangements and not enough singing by Samara. I was looking forward to her warm voice singing the standards, instead it was loud and none of the band members looked like they were enjoying themselves. I actually saw people begin to leave half way through the show.

  • Excellent show!

Samara Joy was a “joy” to hear Thursday evening. Her voice was absolutely amazing and her vocal range phenomenal! I can’t wait to see her perform again. Much success in everything you set out to accomplish 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

  • Wonderful Voice, Charming Personality

by Mustang289 on 11/10/24Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Samara has a transcendent voice and she is a sweet, charming performer. I look forward to seeing her again. It was nice to see a jazz septet backing her up and they were okay as far as I’ve seen for jazz players (trombone, trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax, drums, bass and piano). Samara is only going to get better but you should see her now before she gets even more famous and the tickets get into stupid money.

  • Wonderful

by Caddie on 11/2/24Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

The show was excellent. We've wanted to see Samara Joy and we was exceptional. The venue was beautiful as always, The only downside was the red wine served VERY COLD. Didn't warm up even by the end of the show, so tasteless. Disappointing after spending $30 for two drinks. They should know better! Didn't think we'd have to check.

  • Samara is a complete Joy

My concert itself was awesome. The seating in the floor in the folded chairs; however, is another story. They are so tight together that you feel like you can’t fully relax into the concert experience you paid for. There’s also not much leg room to stretch with. This would be my only complaint, fix the seating arrangement at the Paramount.
