  • Stellar Vocalist

by Sam on 12/7/23Cullen Theater at Wortham Center - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Samara was amazing and so were her family member that joined her on stage. It’s clear why she won the coveted GRAMMY for best new artist. She is a generational talent. It’s such a joy witnessing a young, Black thriving jazz artist in today’s time.

  • Good show, great voice

by misael_e on 12/5/23Cullen Theater at Wortham Center - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

Samara has a great educated voice that you can enjoy during the show. The fact that she includes close family during the show adds some personal touch to the show. Probably my expectations were less spiritual songs but still an enjoyable show.

  • Amazing Voice

by HTownFan on 12/5/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Samara’s voice is amazing to experience live. I’m already a fan for life. The sound was not great in the theater, however, and it didn’t seem anyone was trying to improve it through the concert. Her family is talented, but the advertisement I saw didn’t make it clear that this is really a family event, not solely Samara. I was hoping to hear more of her individually.

  • Amazing vocal instrument she has!!

Sat in awe of her vocals!!! Effortlessly hit all notes !!

  • Really enjoyed hearing Samara Joy, her family - not so much

by J&J on 12/4/23Cullen Theater at Wortham Center - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

Samara has a fantastic voice and that is what we went to hear. We really enjoyed her solo numbers. The range of her voice and the control she has is outstanding. Would have loved to hear more of Nancy Wilson. Unfortunately, most of the concert featured her family members along with her father's arrangements. They were okay, but not at the level of Samara Joy. We did not go to the concert paying that much money to hear them. Cullen Hall was a great venue for the concert.

  • Samara Joy & the McClendons brought joy

by An Evening of Joy on 12/4/23Cullen Theater at Wortham Center - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

From the first note to the final bar, this concert transported the audience on a nostalgic and spiritual exploration of the reason for the season. Our only wish was for more!

  • Samara Joy

by Constance Bragier on 12/4/23Cullen Theater at Wortham Center - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed Samara Joy’s Houston concert. Her voice is even more amazing in person. Thanks to Samara Joy for sharing the talents of her accomplished musicians and family members. I was disappointed her uncle didn’t feel the need to dress for the occasion. His vocals were on point but he looked out of place and it took away from the overall performance. Just a bit of constructive criticism. Otherwise, great show!

  • Spectacular

Samara Joy's voice is velvet . She was with her father and Aunt and two uncles they sounded like heaven. If you can go to a show please do . I loved it soooo much❤️❤️❤️❤️

She was amazing of course!!! And her family’s performance was the gravy.

Phenomenal voice! It was a beautiful show. I can't wait to see her again.

  • Just ok…

by HTown-NewYorker on 12/4/23Cullen Theater at Wortham Center - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

I was so looking forward to this show after falling in love with her music. First of all the sound technicians did a horrible job. Several times, the instruments were louder than her! Also, it felt less “polished” than I’d hoped it would be. It felt more like a lounge show than one worthy of the Wortham’s Cullen theater.

  • Amazing Show!

Samara Joy's holiday concert truly touched my soul. Loved that her family performed with her. I'm ready to see the show again!

  • Magical

by MMatt on 12/4/23Cullen Theater at Wortham Center - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Samara Joy, a mere 24 years old, has a voice like Sarah Vaughn. Her runs, her control, the beauty of high and low notes, and her stage presence are magical. Can’t wait to hear more.

  • Awesome Concert

by Andy on 12/4/23Cullen Theater at Wortham Center - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the concert was awesome. Samara has a beautiful voice. I only wish she had sung more and used her family as background singers.

  • Amazing

by Flamingo723 on 10/27/23Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 5 out of 5

What a beautiful evening at a beautiful venue. Not a bad seat in the arena. Good parking. Samara Joy is such a talented singer. The show was sold out. She is definitely more mature than her 23 years. She was more than I could have ever imagined. So happy I went.

  • Samara Joy is a joy to experience

by April Queen on 10/25/23Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the opening entertainment before we entered the theater. Her stage presence brings intimacy to the audience. Loved her banter. Love her voice.

  • She really is a JOY!

by cap3344 on 10/25/23Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I had listened to her Grammy award winning album but was completely blown away by her live performance. The vocal range and dynamics she demonstrated was phenomenal. Her 7 piece band was outstanding, what a talented bunch. For an almost 24 year old, she had great stage presence, but still maintained that 'OMG, I can't believe this has happened to me' innocence. A must see for an contemporary fan of Jazz.

  • No Joy in Tillisville

by LeoThe13 on 10/25/23Tilles Center Concert Hall - BrookvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Great band but Ms. Joy needs to tone down the theatrics. She obviously has the talent and in time should be able to do so.
