A Note From Sam-- The music that my father David Grisman and his close friend, Jerry Garcia, made in the early 90s (in the house that I grew up in) is not only some of the most timeless acoustic music ever recorded, it also triggers my oldest and fondest musical memories. What I find most inspiring about this material is the way their camaraderie and their love and joy for the music, simply oozes out of each recording. It is also impressive how deeply they get beneath their favorite songs--whether they are originals, covers or traditional/old time tunes--and how expertly that material was curated.
My goal in starting Sam Grisman Project is to build a platform for my friends and me to showcase our genuine passion and appreciation for the legacy of Dawg and Jerry's music. By playing some of their beloved repertoire and sharing the original music that our own collective has to offer, we will also show the impact that this music has had on our own individual musical voices. Ultimately, there is nothing that makes me happier than playing great songs with my best friends and my hope is to share that happiness with audiences all over!"

Had a fun time. Been a fan of David Grisman a long time. Sam did a great job of continuing the legacy of Dawg music. First time at the Fm Kirby Theater. First time at a concert in a theater lobby.
Sam is a consummate musician that knows how to surround himself with some great players. Everyone in the band sang and played well! Couldn't recommend this strongly enough! Woo Hoo!
Just a great show. Very intimate! Sam came out after the show and treated us all like friends! Can't wait for them to come back to VA Beach. And Elevation 27 was great too!
Sam’s bass playing was outstanding. I loved how he easily moved around the stage to allow other musicians to get closer to the central microphone. It was so enjoyable to see and hear so many different instruments. The Musicians were all so talented! Riverside Revival is such a beautiful space that optimizes the acoustics of any event.
I love the Sam Grisman Project! A tribute to the “MUSICAL LEGACY OF DAVID “DAWG” GRISMAN & JERRY GARCIA” performed by Sam Grisman, Ric Robertson, Aaron Lipp & Chris J. English. Such excellent vibes!!!
SGP blew my mind and melted my face. I can’t wait for them to come through again soon!
Samson -- Your project is a success! Sam Grisman is the son of legendary mandolinist David Grisman. David managed to coax some of the most intimate and wonderful performances out of Jerry Garcia in their numerous recordings, many made in Grisman's home studio. Sam, a youngster at the time and a witness to much of that work, went on to play upright bass for his fathers band. Now with his own spectacular ensemble, Sam pays homage to Grisman/Garcia and Garcia/Hunter material, as well as the ensembles own songs. Going from electric to acoustic sets and back, they produce completely unpretentious and joyous performances. Go get some joy and support a wonderful project!
