    Disappointing

    by Scoob on 8/21/23

The stage was far too dark the entire concert - to the point of annoying. Felt more like a sound and light show than a real concert. I like to SEE the musicians play. Sound was good, but too much jamming for my taste. Was hoping to hear more tunes that I listen to.

    Good concert

    by Older Dude on 8/21/23

My son, a huge fan, bought me a ticket. He had seen Ryan years ago when Ryan played a piano and sang. An acoustic performance. This was an all out rock concert with pulsing lights and smoke. Very loud, and the bass so intense it felt like a defibrillator. I stayed for almost 3 hours. Loved the intensity and musicianship and vocals, but wish it was not so loud and bass intense.

    St. Pete Concert

    by ??? on 8/21/23

Music was great and love RA as a songwriter and performer. But was surprised that entire concert was performed with only backlit stage lighting. All you could see were shadows of the band members. Not sure why. Really not worth purchasing the higher priced tickets since you really can’t see anything.

    Ryan is Still the Best

    by misstea75 on 8/20/23

This is my third time seeing Ryan and am still blown away by his talent. See him if you have a chance!

    Nope

    by T. B. on 8/20/23

Trying again since my original review never posted, probably for being too honest. This is basically a jam band that will play 12 covers at about 10-15 minutes each. You will hear maybe 1 or 2 originals if you're lucky, so don't hold your breath for your favorite song. It ain't happening.

Worst Concert I’ve Seen In A While

    by Chris on 8/19/23

Couldn’t see the musicians - lighting effects overpowered music - too many covers for such an extensive repertoire!!

    Surpassed all expectations

    by Dick Fitzwell on 8/19/23

Blown away by this show. Sound was amazing. Played three straight hours and had some massive jams. Eerie version of “When Doves Cry.”

    Amazing!

    by Rose on 8/19/23

Ryan's vocals are the best they've ever been. I could listen to these soulful jams all night.

    What was that?!!

    by Former fan on 8/19/23

Singular worst concert I’ve endured in 30 years. Left after 4th song...about hour and 10 min into the show. Dark stage, horrible lighting effects, 15-20 min versions of songs filled with too many marginal guitars. That was a show to be done by new artist with no original material, not a prolific singer songwriter with two decades of success. Never seen live show where audience neither moved or made a sound. Full refund in order,

    Ryan: OK...venue: I won't be back 😒

    by David S on 8/18/23

This was my first visit to the Roxy. I guess I favor the old theater in Buckhead, this one has all the ambiance of a Sam's Club warehouse. Too much concrete and steel, so the sound bounces around and the acoustics are not good. I had seats in the upper level, reserved and expensive. The Jolly Green Giant set in front of me at a table on the rail so I couldn't see anything. The seats in the upper level rake back very slightly so you can't really see the stage if you are not on the front rail. I ended up moving downstairs to the concrete standing-room-only area. Not my first choice for the money that I spent. I understand that Ryan is dealing with Meniere's disease so he is limited with what he can do with stage lighting. That said, the way the show is lit you could not see any of the band unless you were right up front. Very disappointed. Also, the Ryan and Cardinals material is some of my favorite from his catalog. Why he chose to do seven cover songs (!) is a puzzle to me...🤔

    No Front Lighting Ever

    by Wasted Night on 8/18/23

I could deal with just about any sort of disappointment with my $100 x2 tickets, but not having any sort of front light is too far. If you are a doom band, I get it. If it was advertised that you would never see the faces or the guitars or the amps or the drums then I guess that would be cool. Ryan Adams is absolute garbage.

    Pleasantly surprised

    by Fred on 8/18/23

Wasn’t sure what type of show he was going to do but I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. Almost forgot what an amazing talent he is on the guitar. Well done !

    Unfortunate

    by Concertgoer on 8/18/23

I was hoping after all the scandals, this would be a chance for Mr. Adams to seek reconciliation and reconnect with his audience. I saw none of that. If anything, he was a bit hostile to the audience. He told us we could not have a ballad because we were too rambunctious. Whatever dude. There was less joy in the long extended versions of songs he played. He felt distant and I for one do not plan to see him perform again.

    Sadly Disappointing

    by Travis on 8/18/23

Ryan Adams and The Cardinals disappointing set was only made worse by the terrible parking situation during game day against the Yankees. Avoid the Roxy if their is also a game at same time.

    Unfocused

    by SundogWill on 8/18/23

Good show when they played songs the band knew. When they jammed it was fairly aimless, and the covers were mediocre compared to what Ryan could've played from his own catalog. You wouldn't think you could screw up a Prince cover, but yet! Ryan's guitar was way too loud in the mix, and you could barely hear Chris Stills. Ryan's attitude deteriorated as the (too long) set went along, which was odd because the crowd was 100% on his side, yet he still threw a hissyfit and the end and played a mediocre Kiss cover at the end to... punish the crowd? Basically-- exactly what you'd expect from Ryan, a brilliant and frustrating guy.

Would see Ryan Adams 1,000 times

    by Beck on 8/18/23

Amazing. I could watch him play and sing for hours and hours. He knows how to put on an amazing show and it is a treat to be in the presence of such great talent.

    Self Indulgent

    by Hal Bridges on 8/16/23

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals are apparently now a jam band…and not a very good one. The band is not tight and the songs don’t lend themselves to 18 minute meandering and aimless “jams”. The jams weren’t all that good. Boring. I love jam bands (The Dead, Widespread Panic, Phish, Goose etc). This was not that. We left and hour in…along with several others. People in the audience were distracted and not all that into it…except for a few exceptionally high individuals.
