ROCK OF AGES on Tour

Tenth Anniversary Tour

Book by Chris D’Arienzo

Arrangements and Orchestrations by Ethan Popp

Broadway’s Best Party is turning up the volume to ten! The ROCK OF AGES Tenth Anniversary Tour is blazing across North America!

Nominated for five Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, ROCK OF AGES captures the iconic era that was the big bad 1980s Hollywood. Know What Love Is, Feel the Noise, and Take Your Best Shot at one of the Sunset Strip’s last epic venues, a place where the legendary Stacee Jaxx returns to the stage and rock-n-roll dreamers line up to turn their fantasies into reality.

Featuring the music of hit bands such as Styx, Poison, Twisted Sister, and Whitesnake among many others, this Tenth Anniversary production features a dynamic new cast revisiting the larger than life characters and exhilarating story that turned ROCK OF AGES into a global phenomenon.

This is one for the ages that will have you singing “Here I Go Again.”

“Absurdly enjoyable! About as guilty as pleasures get!” - The New York Times

“ROCK OF AGES is the power-ballad decade in all its glory, tricked out with big perms, bigger dreams, and the kind of operatic ecstasy you read about only in bathroom stalls.” - Entertainment Weekly

“Insanely fun! Rock and comedy in perfect proportion!” - Time Out New York

    Great

by T. D. on 4/12/19The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

Saw this on Broadway in NY a few years ago and when I saw that the show was going on tour in our area, I got a group of friends to go that had never be to a Broadway musical. All I can say is that it was great! A few things changed in this production, which made for a few nice surprises for people who had seen it before. Narrator was great as was the whole case. If you love 80's Rock and want to have a great time, get some friends together, dig out your old 80's rock band t-shirts and get ready to ROCK!

    Enjoyable but lacking

by S. R. on 4/9/19The Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

Ironic the email asking for a review features a hand with a lighter- I have battery operated lighters I was given a production of Rock of Ages years ago that we were asked by the ushers to put away. I love this play but this production- not so much. The most important set of the play was super sparse. The whole idea of doing scenes out of road cases was only somewhat successful- some scenes were a bit flat because of it. Not having the decor of the Bourbon Room (only one neon sign) really detracted from the overall feel. Lonny was wildly miscast. The character is a chubby, mustached fellow who wears a "Hooray for Boobies" T-shirt. The actor playing this character instead came across as weasel-like and whiny. While his singing was on par the decision to thin down Lonny was a bad one. Cherrie was great but her wig was not. By going red headed instead of the usual blond, the use of many purple lights made her look like her hair was pink. Also, the stage makeup was waaay over done- you could see her cheeks from space. The end result was the character looking like a Jem doll which is 80s but not in a good way. Drew always wear a Def Leppard t shirt. First time I've seen the character without it. Plain black? Uninspired.... Overall, cast did a great job, production was lacking, costumes weren't great and some wigs were not good. I would not see this production again but would give a different one a chance in the future.

    Fun show

by B. F. on 4/8/19The Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

This was a fun time, especially if you are of a certain age. Most of the audience was probably 45 to 55 years old. At first I thought it was more like a high school production. It’s definitely off Broadway quality. I think you’re feelings on this will depend on what caliber of shows you are used to. As the show moved along, I will say the quality improved. Overall I enjoyed it and for the ticket price it was fine. Had I paid over $100 a ticket, I might not be as happy. Definitely a good time.

    Meh

by V. on 4/8/19The Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

Definitely not the same show I saw in NY ten years ago. They changed several things. The story line was glazed over. The actors were good but old for the roles.

    Entertaining

by MrHeatWeld on 4/7/19The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

Show was very entertaining...loved the music...my only criticism was that the band was not loud enough in the mix...the music was great and the vocal volume was fine but the band should have had more "punch"....
