  • RJD2 Rocked El Rey

by HwoodEditor on 4/16/10El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show. Great live performance! This was my 1st time seeing him but have listened to his albums for years. Going in, I wasn't sure how the more instrument based tracks from Colossus would go down but I was really impressed. Solid 90+ minutes of RJ & friends throwing down. Wished it was a wknd night performance & the show went on for hours longer. We left wanting more RJ beats!

  • RJD2 + Busdriver @El Rey = Epic

by tdrives99 on 4/10/10El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing, That's all I can really say. Busdriver's lyrical skill is overwhelming - the highlight of the set was when he covered Major Tom. RJ killed it on turntables, MPC and on bass and guitar with the full band and the came out in a space suit playing a belt mounted MPC at the end of the show. Ridiculous!

Awesome show. Cool venue. Don't take a pack of gum with you as they will confiscate it at the door.

  • RJD2 was amazing!

Seeing RJD2 live is an experience one mustn't miss! The show opened with Happy, setting the tone for some of what's to come. Busdriver was a nice surprise--I hadn't heard of them before, and they've got rockin, hip-hop reggae style! When it was time for RJD2 to take the stage, we were pumped up to see the best of the best. Great lights, great visuals playing in the background, and amazing stage presence! Whether he's playing alone or with a band, he owns it all. Great show, super talented guy, and I'm honored to have been able to see him in person.

  • RJD2 is insanity!!!

by coolshaps on 4/7/10El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Greatest show ever! RJD2 mashed up his own songs with others, changed tempo, build-ups, drum fills, constant energy... and he's humble?! WOWW!!!

  • RJD2 was amazing! I wish Busdriver hadn't opened.

RJD2 really puts on a fun show. I found myself dancing, screaming, and overall having a blast. As for the venue, I think the El Rey could use an updated sound system, but the space is nice. I like the upstairs balcony and bar.

  • RjD2

Whoever was also there at the show was definitely treated to a great performance. RjD2 is a musician! Yes, he's a dj too. When you watch him spin, he doesn't even need to use headphones while he operates his 4 turntables. He had the crowd's undivided attention, connected with the audience, and enjoyed himself performing. The band that plays with him is equally talented singing and playing multiple instruments. To see the crowd rise and lower like a massive tidal wave together along with the beat is something that you only see at the best of shows.

This show was amazing! It was my first time seeing RJD2 and will definitely see him again. First time I had ever heard of Happy and loved him as well!

The opening band, Break Science was actually crazy good, I was really surprised. It definately got everyone pumped up for RJ.. RJ was also awesome, as expected. But i wish he would have played some of his more famous and up beat songs earlier in the performance.

  • Very Awesome

Rjd2 knows how to put on a good show. From silly antics of dressing up in a robot suit (couldn't understand what the hell he was saying half the time), to doing mario puppets, the man can do it all. He of course played one of his biggest hits, Ghostwriter, which was the grand finale. My only beef was that the show started almost an hour and a half later. The opening artists were good too.

Both Break Science and RJD2 had the crowd bumping. Was a really hot night at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Best concert in a long while...

    Impeccable performance...emotional, inventive and powerful.

  • Commissioner Crotch Buttons!

by gypsycaravan on 3/7/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

RJD2 is ridiculously talented. He spun like no other, it seemed like he was doing 100 things at once, constantly changing records. Then he played some guitar, bass, and then sang his heart out. The other musicians were very talented. The venue was very small and intimate. It was a great time.

  • See RJD2.

by Warmachine on 3/7/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

This is a venue for those who love bass; for those who want the perfect sound. RJD2 took advantage, and delivered the sickest show I have seen this year. Everybody there was loving it. Crowd energy was palpable, but gentle in counterpoint to the dark and violent visuals on the projector. After the show, our genius shook hands like a regular guy.

  • Rjd2 was looking for his style

by Anonymous on 3/7/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - BrooklynRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was not bad. But we wait too long (3hours), for something average. Some good songs and a nice videoprojection, but the overall impression is a bit all over the place. RJD2 seems to look for his style, mixing a bit of electro with rock. It doesn't work very well.

Spectacular. Don't miss it for the world. Great atmosphere, great DJing and great musicians with great instrumentals.

  • RJD2 made sweet love to my eardrums!

by Maegon on 3/7/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

The show in Williamsburg last night blew my mind. Kicking the events of the night off with Happy and Break Science was perfection. I couldn't believe the amount of talent before my eyes, each dude was a master of his own craft. I danced my ass off and had a kick ass time. Hopefully my school will be successful at booking RJ for our music festival!
