NYE in NYC... Incredible.
by CAKB on 1/10/13Gramercy Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Leading up to this show I read some downer reviews on this sight about RJ's shows.. I definitely had a different experience. This show ended up being for sure one of my best concert experiences. He performed for upwards of two hours, maybe almost three hours, first hitting a big spread of his released tracks, then going "house party" style at the end. Continuous music, spinning on about 5 turntables, real-time djing with predominantly, or all, real vinyl action and none of the electronic pre-mixed stuff. Definitely an impressive feat, especially without a break.
It was in a great venue-- Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan. Perfect size, holds about 600? Crowd had great energy, spent the whole time in the front row and the big "push" that happens when a headliner comes on was not bad at all.. People were just having a great time and dancing a lot. Staff was friendly, there was a coat check, and there were two bars in the venue. Only drawback was the $6 pabst cans, but what do you expect in NYC.
