Rick Ross on Tour

When performing, the boss of Miami trades his unassailable cool for shouting and sweat. Stalking the stage in sunglasses, Ross performs hit after hit, touching on solo tunes like "Hustlin'" and "B.M.F.," which helped transform modern hip-hop, to the collabs he's done with Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, French Montana, Ace Hood and Skrillex. A rap superstar, Rick Ross has performed at Rolling Loud, Wireless Festival, Made in America, OVO Fest and at gigs across Europe and Africa. In 2011 he toured as part of Lil Wayne's I Am Music II tour and in 2019 headlined his own Port of Miami 2 tour.

Rick Ross in Concert

A titan of outsize boasts, booming bass and trunk-caving hits, Rick Ross is a hip-hop icon with one of the genre's most reliable and formidable discographies. Raised in Carol City, Florida, the artist born William Leonard Roberts II was writing and performing rhymes as early as junior high but ultimately shined as a high school football star. Working with Miami indie label Slip-N-Slide Records, he emerged as Rick Ross in 2002. After then signing to Def Jam, he became an ambassador of trap music with his bold single "Hustlin'" and platinum-certified debut Port of Miami in 2006. Ross would ultimately record with a who's who of hip-hop — Kanye West, Jay-Z, Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj — and remain a consistent, bosslike presence through more than a decade of evolving hip-hop trends. His Maybach Music Group imprint helped exploding rappers like Meek Mill, Wale, French Montana and Gunplay. In 2016, he would even take a small detour into EDM with "Purple Lamborghini," a Skrillex collaboration that became the lead track on the soundtrack to Suicide Squad. In 2019, Ross released his 10th album, Port of Miami 2, also the 10th record in a row to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200.

It was a horrible experience. The concert was supposed to start at 7pm, and the main people didn't come out until 11pm. The concert ended at 12:30am. What a rip off. The talent show before the main event was unorganized as ever. I love Rick Ross and this was my first time seeing him in concert and definitely my last.

  • Rick Ross was unforgettable!....in a bad way

by Anonymous on 5/2/12Pontiac Silverdome - PontiacRating: 1 out of 5

The concert started at 7pm and none of the main rappers came out until 11:30!! 4 and a half hours late. If you are going to see Rick Ross, I advise you sell your tickets. It is a waist of money.

Ticket said doors open at 6 and concert started at 7 well doors didnt open till after 7. I stayed for 4 and a half hours and all these know name performers were on the stage the whole 4 and a half hours and it was getting very annoying. They host kept saying are you guys ready for rick ross wale and meek mill and they said in 5mins well 5 mins came around still no one and the host came back on and said are you guys ready again so he said another 5mins welp after 20min still no ross wale or meek mill. All these people were doing was draging on the show any possible way they could because these fools werent even in the building. The concert wasnt even full maybe a little over a 1000 people it was pretty pathetic! I spent 33 bucks on a ticket and i feel like have been ripped off to the max! I will never ever go see ross wale or meek mill again! I left the show at almost midnight because they still werent on stage! This concert was put together terribly! Where you can buy tshirts they only had 3 diferent shirts you could buy! IF I WAS ANYONE THINKING ABOUT GOING TO SEE A CONCERT WITH THESE GUYS I WOULD NOT EVEN WASTE YOUR MONEY BECAUSE I THOUGHT FOR 30 BUCKS I WAS GETTING ONE HELL OF A DEAL BUT NOPE I COULD HAVE HAD BOUGHT ME A TANNING PACKAGE INSTEAD! POOR POOR POOR POOR POOR CONCERT

  • Rick Ross concert

    by AshKat83 on 4/15/12Mississippi Coast Coliseum - BiloxiRating: 1 out of 5

I have never known for the main headliner to perform first at a concert. We were purposely 45 mins late so we wouldn't have to see all the opening acts that were performing "supposedly" before all the other "big names" came on stage. On top of that I was told that Rick Ross didn't even perform that long, but Recognition and 2 Chainz actually gave more of a show them him. Rick Ross was the reason I even bought a ticket.

  • We wanted more Rick !!!

by MsDiime on 4/14/12Mississippi Coast Coliseum - BiloxiRating: 3 out of 5

We thot Rick Ross was coming out again. If you didn't make it on time u missed Rick because he was first up. The locals were not all that except for the group in the all white with the chick. 2Chainz won the crowd back in the end. Nice crowd. The show was okay..I enjoyed the experience.

  • Never again

by Jordanliz on 4/14/12Mississippi Coast Coliseum - BiloxiRating: 1 out of 5

I will never go to a show at mgcc again, was horrible. Not many people wasn't to hype, this made the artist not want to get into the show. Worst part were all of the local rappers, about 11 performed and they were all pretty much bad. Ross was good, Travis porter was decent and 2 chains was good. It was just where the show took place. The problem was more of just the location and the crowd was horrible, no energy whatsoever

  • RickRoss Meek Mill Wale French Montana

    by Sunshine1201322 on 3/26/12Blue Cross Arena - RochesterRating: 4 out of 5

I have been wanting to see da boss for awhile now so i was excited abt the show. It was a good concert Wale, Meek Mil and Rick Ross were good i'm not really up on French Montana music other than "shot caller" he was just okay. Its a griddy concert so if you into the "street" rap then you will enjoy it. But if you looking for a show where the artists are changing clothes, or a live band, dancers etc this not the show for you lol but overall I had a good time

  • Boss

by ImABoss on 3/19/12Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

The show was fun, even if Rick only did a 1 hour set. IT was over at 10:30 which on a Tuesday wasnt the worst. Show started and ran pretty much on time.

  • mediocre sound, weak performances

    by james227 on 3/19/12Blue Cross Arena - RochesterRating: 2 out of 5

The sound system was boomy and not powerful enough. I've been to my share of concerts in stadium-sized events, and this bass was just lackluster and failed to fill up the space. I checked out the main-board processing gear - dbx 4800 is a great dsp, but they just need more and better subs! For the most part, this concert was an embarassment. The performing dj's were alright, I think I caught just one scratch routine in the whole night. They also cut most songs short to about half the length of each song. I guess this is so that you can 'hear' your favorite hits, but by the time you recognize them the main acts have gone through all of them. The comedian who chatted in between acts and at the beginning used mostly crude humor. These kinds of jokes get the easiest laughs because they are uncomfortable laughs, but it would have been more pleasant to have a class-act mc take us through the evening. When French montana got on stage with about 35 other people, it was an embarassment. At one point they attempted to finish a verse in harmony, and across all the microphones, every single person was out of key. The rhyming was almost all about drugs, and yes I understand that they are trying to spread the 'coke boys' brand, but i think it rappers today could send a more empowering message to the black community. Meek Mills was no different. "What's your body count? Mine's double digits". Wow. Good for you. The kind of swagger that was advertised to the audience basically promises nothing but despair, jail time, and early death. I do miss hip hop with soul, sensuality, and mature stories about life and how to best achieve one's dreams. Rick Ross himself was a good performer, and the best performer of the night. Similarly, however, I just was not interested in his shallow messages. A real boss gets it off the boat? You have a kilo of drugs in your car? Hip hop should really wake up. Hip Hop could be the poetry that motivates the ghetto into a realistic direction of progress. What I heard at this concert was derivative macho juvenile atonal nonsense.
