About

Lewis has taken his lifelong therapy fodder and carved it into a commanding, compelling art form. A NY Post article noted; "Richard Lewis built the strongest stand-up comedy career on a blazing trail of neuroses since Woody Allen." Comedy Central has recognized Mr. Lewis as one of the top 50 stand-up comedians of all time and he was charted on GQ Magazine's list of the '20th Century's Most Influential Humorists'.

SAG nominated Lewis for his work in the ensemble category for his recurring guest star role, playing true-to-life as one of Larry David's closest friends in "Curb Your Enthusiasm," the Seinfeld co-creator's hit HBO series. The show has garnered many awards to include over six Emmy nominations and high praise.

With scores of other guest acting appearances in TV series and films he tries to be as diverse as possible in his choices from appearing on such shows as "2 1/2 Men" and an arc in the new series, 'Til Death" starring Emmy Award winning Brad Garrett . He's been featured in the season finale of A&E's "The Cleaner," portraying a junkie with his life very much on the line. Other guest starring stints have included "The Dead Zone," "Alias," and "Seventh Heaven." He mixes it up between heaven and hell so to speak. Yet, most close to his heart was his four year run in ABC's critically acclaimed series "Anything But Love," co-starring with Jamie Lee Curtis, "Anything but Love", now out on DVD with Volume One of the four year situation comedy. Late night TV viewers and media junkies in general are familiar with his frequent guest appearances. He may hold title to having the most late night appearances, chalking up well over 100 appearances with Dave, Jay, Conan, Jon, Stern, Ferguson and Maher.

In December of 1989, Lewis achieved a very personal goal...he performed at Carnegie Hall to a standing room only audience. To close, in his own words--"I go on a long tour and make people happy that they're not me and go home."

I think it was an off night for Mr. Lewis? Or it was the last show of his 30-something tour, or the fact that the country was in morning? I don't know, but he was not funny.

We walked out before Mr. Lewis finished his act.

by winecountrychick on 12/16/12Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

The warm up acts were good or at least much better than Richard Lewis. He really did not have an act and he mentioned it on stage. He looked terrible and warn out. His clothes hung on his skinny body. We were not the first people to walk out. A couple in the front row beat us to it. The subject matter was anal sex and big dicks.

Richard Lewis was very funny. I also really loved both Nato Green and Lynn Ruth Miller.

    Richard Lewis

by RobsReview on 3/30/12Mohegan Sun Cabaret - Uncasville

Honestly one of the most disappointing shows. Richard was all over the place and I don't think the group I was with laughed once. Really expensive and disappointing.

    Surprised

by ldpbamby on 3/20/12Mohegan Sun Cabaret - Uncasville

Went to see the show on Saturday 17th. Was really excited to see a celebrity veteran performer. Opening acts were very funny, working to a 1/2 filled room is not easy. Unfortunately, was a little disapointed in Richard Lewis. He seemed a little scatter brained, jumping from one topic to the next without coming to the punch line on most of his tales...even when reminded to go back on topic, most "stories" lacked any real humor. He mentioned a few times that he really had no "act", but had so many pieces of skits in his brain from all the years performing, he would just recant those. I think he would be better off if he has some direction planned before hand so he can keep more ontrack. Left the theatre a little confused and disappointed.

There were 3 comedians. The 1st was not funny. He was a better singer than a comedian. The 2nd was very good and made me laugh. But Richard Lewis was absolutely hysterical. I was laughing so hard I was crying non stop. What a great show. I came with another couple and told 2 other couples about the show and they came . Then my wife's brother (who met us for dinner) then decided a buy tickets and they also enjoyed the performance.

    Lewis Rocks

by heavenlystar on 3/19/12Mohegan Sun Cabaret - Uncasville

It is a great venue at Mohegan Cabaret for comics. Richard Lewis did not disappoint. His material was fresh and funny in his stream of consciousness style.Unfortunately his number one opener comic struggled to to connect with audience. If you like Lewis' comedy, you won't relate. Second opener comic was funny and reached and primed the audience.

WOW that was the best Show

    by 1tiny1 on 12/20/11Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

Richard Lewis was verry good and does his wife know this. And then for 2 solid hours Spike and the Impalers kicked it. What Aaron Balsley isn't good enough, so enter Roger Fisher from Heart. And then Rick Knotts from RAIL. Just a Rock Fest. What a night as you should have been there.

    Bob Rivers World Vision Benefit

    by Stillinuse on 12/20/11Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

I like the Impalers band, and the cover songs they do. Always fun to listen to. The opening act was Richard Lewis who is very accomplished but not for everyone. He was gracious enough to perform for the benefit also. Kudos to Andrew Rivers, who is a rising comedian! The venue at Snoqualimie Casino leaves a lot to desired. We have gone to concerts at the Tulalip Casino(the Best), and have eaten before shows. I must say the Snoqualimie pales in comparison. I felt the buffet prices were too expensive for here. Don't charge Las Vegas prices when you cannot deliver the same or better experience. You other choices for food are a small Sushi bar, and a cafeteria (take a number) like cafe. Underwelming at best. It is unlikely that I will take friends to Snoqualimie again.

    Richard Lewis is sooo funny!

    by Snake5174 on 12/20/11Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

Richard Lewis' set was so funny my stomach and jaw hurt from laughing so hard! Don't let his self-proclaimed forgetfulness fool you. He knows exactly what he is doing and it is funny until the end! Spike and the Impalers put on a very entertaining show. They have some amazing musicians in that group! I thought the Imposters were good too!

    Bob Rivers Twisted Christmas Show

    by zeeeekee on 12/20/11Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

I've only been to two of these shows however Spike and the Impalers put on a great performance. I haven't followed Richard Lewis although I've seen him on TV and to be honest I hadn't found him to be funny but he suprised me on Friday night. I thought he was very funny so maybe I finally caught on to his humor. All in all Bob Rivers knows how to put on a show and I am glad I was there.
