About

Daughter of a music professor; trained classically in her home country of Russia, Regina's passion for music was clear from childhood.  Once she completed her studies she moved to the Bronx, New York and her life has never been the same. Influenced by her Russian and Jewish roots, as well her new love for the city Regina's songwriting took off. It was in the underground music scene of the East Village where she found fame. Still, her music is always evolving, channeling  influences like Chopin, Janis Joplin, to experimenting with unusual instruments and vocal styles, Regina never ceases to surprise.
After a number of self-funded and distributed albums, she finally got her first proper release in 2004 when Warner Brothers re-released her 2003 self-released album Soviet Kitsch. She released the highly anticipated follow-up album, Begin To Hope, in 2006. The single from the album, "Fidelity", was a big hit and helped the album peak at number 20 in the US Billboard chart. Her fifth full album, Titled Far, was a smash hit, it entered the US charts at number three and raised Regina's profile worldwide. In 2010 she performed at President Obama's reception at the White House. Her latest album, titled What We Saw from the Cheap Seats also entered the US album chart at number three.

Regina first toured nationally with The Strokes and this was quickly followed by a tour supporting The Kings of Leon, where she played in front of many famous venues at max capacity, like the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. A series of headline theater shows followed the release of the album Far and in recent years she has made frequent appearances during the European Summer Festival season. Away from music, Regina does a great deal of work for human rights charities and has raised money for Doctors Without Borders helping earthquake victims.

    I'm a believer

    by Jake on 8/13/23

I never listened to Regina Spektor's music before this week. I can't believe I missed this talent. She came out and sang acapella and then played over 20 songs without a band. Just Spektor and her piano. She's a stud. Every song was great. I'm now a believer in Regina Spektor.

    Sublime evening of singer/songwriter magic

by Pasadena, CA music lover on 8/13/23

Aimee Mann has such a low-key vibe that you don't realize how wickedly insightful her music is. She kept us low-key bopping for the entire set. Nice. Regina Spektor uses lyrics, music, voice, and piano in ways both familiar and completely new. Even though we knew most of the songs, the surprises kept coming. It's a thing of beauty to hear the whole Greek Theater singing along to a song that means so much to so many people. Her stagecraft (only voice and a piano/electric piano!) and her stories (tasteful, heartfelt, short but powerful) had the sold-out Greek transfixed. I highly recommend going to see either of these amazing artists when they come to your city.

    Simply magical

    by Catvarnell on 8/13/23

Regina Spektor, alone, on stage with a piano, keyboard, guitar, & her voice is all I ever needed in a concert experience. The beautiful acoustics and natural surroundings added an elemental feel that was enveloping, blocking out everything but the moment. It was less magical realism, more real magic and a truly transcendent concert experience. Can we please do that again?

Regina is perfect and the greek is beautiful

    by AD on 8/13/23

What a show. Regina has an unbelievable amount of talent and a fantastic personality. She had the crowd in the palm of her hand all night by just being her kind, thoughtful, talented self. She admitted she was nervous to play the greek by herself and talked herself down by pretending it was someone’s backyard lol. She is a gem. Her vocals and skills on her instruments are unbelievable, and her songs strike that perfect balance of funny, catchy, existential, and melancholy. We all gave her a standing ovation and when she came back out for an encore and someone yelled “WED WAIT FOR YOU FOREVER“ which was so, so true. Beautiful music, beautiful night, beautiful venue. Regina is a legend.

    Dazzling!

    by CHW on 8/13/23

The Greek is the perfect venue to showcase Regina Spektor’s incredible talent. This felt like such an intimate show. Spektor’s vocal agility, and skill as a composer and musician are unmatched. I’m so glad I saw her live!

You really must see her live

    by Mark azali on 8/13/23

This is the total package. Regina Spektor’s voice is incredible live. She has limitless charm when she discusses her songs and engages the audience. This is also a solo act which makes the experience so intimate despite sitting among thousands of other fans. Songs that didn’t catch your attention on their albums recordings can move you to tears. She’s really so talented and we’re lucky she shares her music with us.

    Great experience

    by Joyce on 8/11/23

This was not my first time , but every time that I’m here I have so much fun. My fiancé and I came to see Regina Spector and we were able to see her right in front of us . Going to the restaurant and getting that extra “fast pass “ it’s so worth it. Micheladas are ok point at the restaurant. Parking is the only difficult thing at the end. Maybe having someone directing traffic will be helpful.

CSM is not the venue for avid fans...

    by CL on 8/9/23

First and foremost, Regina was AMAZING! She was great as a performer and her interactions with the crowd were memorable. I particularly appreciated how she took a song recommendation that was shouted out and seamlessly wove it into her show. That being said, the venue left A LOT to be desired from a true fan's perspective. Concerts are often enjoyable because you get to sing and dance with others who enjoy and know the music and artist. Unfortunately, the entire evening felt dull because most of the people in attendance seemed more interested in sipping wine and sitting in the lawn than they were in seeing Regina Spektor. There is certainly a time and place for that type of casual evening, but it was not expected at a concert venue and something I will take into consideration when deciding if I want to attend future shows at CSM.

    Oversold, Quiet and Overpriced

    by Lame on 8/8/23

Regina as an artist was amazing. But everything else sucked. By the time we got there there was no where left to setup. The event was oversold. The food was overpriced. If you’re in the back or the sides it’s hard to hear the music because there are only front speakers. They don’t enforce low chairs.

    Forking Incredible!

    by Chani on 8/8/23

I don't usually write reviews but this was amazing. I waited 15 years to see Regina Spektor and I was nervous it would totally fall short, but not even a little. It was simple, just her and her piano and it was just beautiful. Plus, she has a few fun songs that seem to be just for concerts so we all got to enjoy something unexpected and a little silly. Cannot wait to see her again!

    Regina shines!

    by Bart M on 8/8/23

This year for my birthday I treated myself to a road trip. I went to Cincinnati to see the fantastic Regina Spektor play. I've loved and admired her work since I first heard her in 2003. So I booked a room in a fancy dan deco hotel and off I went. Regina Spektor played one of the best shows I have ever seen, and considering my track record, that is saying a lot. Especially considering it was just her and the piano up there. But given her skills on the keys, and that amazing voice, there really was not room to spare. The sound filled the auditorium as full as any band could hope for. And those songs. Dazzling epic tales and intimate romantic odes swept up in science fiction and whimsy. I stole a quote of hers from her wiki, "It doesn't feel natural for me to write some diary type song. I want to write a classic like "Yesterday"but weird songs about meatballs in refrigerators come into my head–I can't help it."That about sums it up. But there is so much more to it. OK, I admit a bias may be in play here due to her Jewish Russian roots. Those are my people. But I love the way those roots show up in her blend of folk, rock, jazz and classical styling. It is charming and intense and most usually completely surprising. And some of the melodies touch me in an ancient, familiar way.

How nice to hear and understand lyrics! Regina is such a poet and my goodness can she play the piano or what!!! It was a very enjoyable concert. Humor balancing serious. It could have gone on for 2 more hours! Such a diverse audience, that was also so nice. Brava!

    by Marisa on 8/8/23

Regina opened acapella like a boss. She is one of the only artist I believe sound even better live. If you get a chance, regardless of the venue or seats you can land, go see her. She is a wonderful performer.

    Not my cup of tea

    by kcr on 8/8/23

Great venue and wine, Chateau St. Michelle did a great job getting people in/out. Definitely won't go back to see Regina Spektor again. Not a fan. Also, if you're going to be at an outdoor concert and sit in the very back, don't continually "shush"people who are whispering. If it means that much to you buck up and get a reserved seat with other people who love the artist.

    Great Experience

    by Stuart on 8/8/23

Chateau Ste. Michelle summer concerts never fail to be a great time and Regina Spektor put on one of the better performances I've seen. The show felt intimate and personal even though it was a relatively large venue. Highly recommended.
