    Reefer Madness Scores

by Theater Boy 716 on 2/7/24Shea's Smith Theatre - Buffalo

O’Connell & Company presents REEFER MADNESS THE MUSICAL Had an absolute blast this evening seeing so many of my favorite musical theater performers all in one show ‼️ Kevin Deese plays Jimmy ,the goody two shoes turned bad boy . I adore Kevin and always enjoy him on stage , it was so much fun to see him go from goofy nerd to “possessed “ junky hooligan with such giddy glee & wild abandon. He is in fine voice and his willingness to fling himself about the stage with such zeal made me laugh out loud . Brooke Leary is Mary Lane Jimmy’s sweetheart , it makes my heart so happy to see her in a lead role , kicking butt & taking names . She is delightfully pitch perfect in this role . Heads up casting people , give this talented young lady more lead roles ‼️She shines up on the Shea’s Smith stage . Not only does she sing & dance beautifully, she is hilarious, particularly when she is seduced to partake in the “marihuana” by the always excellent Joey Bucheker as Ralph , a drug pushing , seemingly possessed college boy turned perv. Joey also dons several caps doing some great ensemble work as well . The manical laugh 😂 & giggles that Joey came up with had the audience howling . I was also thrilled to see Corey Bieber take center stage as Jack , the evil local hood & the most delicious & ridiculously funny Jesus I have ever seen on a stage . Bravo Corey , you are so talented & you continue to not only impress me with every show I see you in , but you blew me away last night with this role . Nick Lama is the lecturer & guide through the sorted tale, he can pretty much do anything , golden voiced & instinctual perfect timing , he schools, scolds & preaches the pitfalls of weed smoking with a wink & a sly grin . Heather Casseri earns lots of laughs with her wacky portrayal of Sally , a sorta lady of the night ,who Jimmy becomes entangled with (literally) the young formerly ,innocent Jimmy . She has some powerhouse vocals on display as does Kim Piazza who I have never had the pleasure of seeing in a show before. Kim plays Mae ,the kind hearted madam of the flop house and “girlfriend “ of the often abusive Jack . One of my favorite scenes is when Heather & Kim sing together so beautifully. Side Show instantly popped in my head , Powers that Be , Get on That ❣️ I will always go see Heather in whatever show she’s in and I add Kim to that list now as well . The whole cast is divine, Michael Wells Matt Rittler & Robert McKnight are not only nice to look at ( and you will see a lot of them in this show 😳) they are triple threats who can & will do anything on stage . Shout out to Robert’s little drag moment in the show , which had me dying. The equally hardworking ladies in the cast Lizzie Arnold Alexandra Grace Nowak & Ashleigh Ricci never disappoint . The book is a tad flimsy ,but the music & musical numbers are great and guided by the expert & loving hands of Todd Warfield with this OUTSTANDING cast this show is a big winner 🏆 for me . Don’t miss it or YOU will miss out . Also Everybody’s Doing It 🤪

    Mostly a great show!

by Allentwn on 2/7/24Shea's Smith Theatre - Buffalo

I really enjoyed Reefer Madness! The actors had amazing talent, including comedic timing and great dancing. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the loudness of the band at certain points in the show. In such a small theater with only a curtain separating the band and audience, I wish the keyboard and guitar in particular would have been quieter. This was especially a problem during parts of the show where most/all of the cast was singing. Unfortunately they were drowned out by the music. I will also note that my experience was from the side of the audience closest to the entrance and therefore closest to the band. The music was probably not as loud on the other side of the audience. Hopefully they can take this as constructive criticism to improve future performances.

It was a zany over the top musical that made me laugh continuously! The acting was great. The whole production was campy fun. Some advice...if you are a little shy or reserve at all don't sit in the front row! HA HA!

    Better than a movie

by RESTLESS7 on 2/24/13New Century Theatre - Minneapolis

It was a night out in the city nothing to wright home to mom about, Better than a movie in the suburbs and a cold box of popcorn. This will be our 3rd time to the theatre and we will be back. Enjoy the energy of the cast; it was good to be shocked by them.
