Nice trip down memory lane... yet needs something

by joeyrc on 7/26/11Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Great for remembering the songs and good interaction, yet I would have expected more for the price, particularly since it's Broadway.

    not what i thought

by sellyna on 7/25/11brooks at theater - new york

Went to see Rain this weekend saw the understudies for the 4 main performers. Didn't know they had understudies for a cover band. Not what I thought. They didn't sing Rain, exiciting part of the whole show was seeing ourselves on the tv screen they had hanging in the front.

good performers/musicians in a lame production

by anae4321 on 7/24/11Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

The guys playing the beatles did a good job. They are SO MUCH BETTER than the show theyre in. Whoever designed and produced the show did a lazy, low effort job and really let the performers down. They didnt tell you or show you about the beatles or their history. (the MANY clips of apollo rockets dont count) They didnt put much that was fun or interesting in it. The show just churned along with nothing to break it up. And the surprisingly difficult trivia questions they put on the side screens in between acts were lazy, flat, and completely boring to anyone under 55. Someone shouldve made the producers watch Jersey Boys......because that one was fun----AND could be enjoyed by all ages. so sad. we had a lot of empty seats too--which ???--the theatre didnt seem to want to fill them by dicounting tickets either. again--sad.

    Rain

What an enjoyable evening. Went with 5 other people. All had a great time. The guy that played George Harrison was a phenominal guitar player. Clapped, danced and sang all night. Thank you for a great time!

Just like the Beatles could have been

by FoggyChap on 7/24/11Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

An Excellent night out with the Beatles. I was visiting New York from the UK and was really looking forward to seeing Rain ... and I wasn't disappointed. The detailed nuances were all there - all the little twitches and movements - even the mannerisms that you'd forgotten. Musically it was spot on and in the vocals you could hear the individual voices of the original Beatles - it was really impressive. The only downside was (and I ignored that "Paul" wasn't left handed) the Liverpool accents were a long way off when the guys were talking - but remember I'm from the UK so I was always going to hear an American accent coming through. If the Beatles hadn't broken up, you could imagine them performing just like this. Particularly impressive was the accoustic set featuring "George" who was great all evening with his ungainly strutting around the stage. As an added bonus, I really liked the 60's newsreel and TV adverts. A great night out.

Rain a Tribute to the Beatles

by Rootus on 7/23/11Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Music from early years '64-'68 was highlight of the show for me, 64 years old. The flower child years and war protesting came out in their music after that period and I did not relate to this change. All four performers very capable musians and did a great job.

    A Memorable Experience

by Anonymous on 7/19/11Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

As a second generation Beatles fan (and not being alive during their heyday as a band) this was definitely what I imagined a Beatles concert to look, feel, and sound like. The band was spot-on in almost every aspect. I didn't know what to expect when I walked through the door, but this exceeded all of my expectations.

    Rain was ok

by Anonymous on 7/18/11Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

I liked that they took us back with the video. That was terrific. The music was right on - I just felt it was a little corny and definetly dragged out. Cutting the intermission and ending would have been much better.
