RAILROAD EARTH IN CONCERT:
Progressive bluegrass band Railroad Earth combines virtuosic musicianship, extensive improvisation, and psychedelic visuals to deliver a world-class concert experience that's rooted in tradition yet firmly forward-looking. The group's rootsy, Americana-infused sound takes on new dimensions at their live shows, where amplified mandolin, guitar, and lap steel combine to create a mind-blowing swirl of bluegrass instruments. The band totally rocks out as they bring tracks like "Elko" and the 15-minute "Like a Buddha" to life on tour, inspiring ear-to-ear grins and euphoric dancing among concertgoers.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
New Jersey-based Railroad Earth formed in 2010 around the songwriting of former From Good Homes frontman Todd Sheaffer. Under the guidance of manager Brian Ross, Sheaffer linked up with a group of talented bluegrass players, and the success of their initial jam sessions gave birth to Railroad Earth. Within several months the band had already released their debut album The Black Bear Sessions and performed at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, where their high-energy set knocked fans’ socks off and earned them a deal with Sugar Hill Records. In 2002 they released their sophomore album Bird In A House, supporting it with a string of boot-stomping performances that floored fans across the country, who began calling themselves “hobos” in honor of the band’s vintage Americana leanings. A string of popular albums followed throughout the ‘00s, and the band’s rigorous touring schedule in support of the releases established them as festival favorites. In 2014 Railroad Earth released their seventh album Last of the Outlaws, a critical success that led to a sold-out show at Red Rocks and a concert DVD release of the epic performance.

Amazing evening of music. Fabulous progressive bluegrass jam band. Loved it!
Killer show!!! Super funky. Couldn't stop smiling or dancing. What a great night! I'd see both bands again in a heartbeat.
Both bands were great in this double bill of two preeminent jamgrass groups. First time at this Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom which is a wonderful venue
This a one of the best bands on Earth. It's always a great show of beautiful music done.
Railroad Earth is one of the best acts touring right now. They attract very nice folks, and it makes for an experience we can all be grateful for.
If you have the chance to see them, don't miss out!
Fantastic show, amazing musicianship, and just super nice, personable guys! See this show!
It was amazing. Nothing like a two day event to get your favorite song.
Another great show for these guys. Fist set was awesome. Boris Garcia a good opener. Hope to see them again.
The boys ripped it up in The Lou! The whole band was on their game tonight. A couple of really nice, long jams and they played two really great sets, chock full of some of their most popular songs. The cover of George Harrison's Any Road was so sweet. And Mississippi Half-step Uptown Toodleoo for an encore was icing on the cake! Right on!
Killer Show!!!!! Awesome venue! Great Folks! Very intimate venue. RRE blew my mind!
Since I know little about this band, I did not know what to expect last night. I was not disappointed! This band has quite a distinctive sound that is unlike any band I have heard. On some songs the sound resembled the Grateful Dead, on others the sound was described as "phsychedelic country/bluegrass" by my wife! No question that they are all extremely gifted musicians. Playing mostly electrified acoustic guitars, mandolins, violin, bass and flute, as well as drums, keyboards and several horns, they create a unique sound. The light show was amazing, BUT, at times they seem to flash a lot of lights directly into the audience, I found this to be uncomfortable. I would encourage anyone who is open to NEW GREAT music to go see them live.
They are on FIRE! Do yourself a favor and see them this tour. Mule's keyboard player was a great add to an awesome band!!!
I bought tickets to surprise my husband, he is a fan. I had an amazing time and fell in love with the band. I love how they are so versatile.
Wow! That was the most incredible experience. The music was invigorating. The "light-show" was the best I've ever seen. The colors were so vibrant. So well timed to the music. So expressive. I had never seen, nor heard them before. I went simply based on their name & that they were "bluegrass". Happy beyond words that I got the chance to enjoy them. They had so much energy/. Just went on & on. Had to leave before they finished.:(. They may still be playing!
Thoroughly enjoyed hearing the Incredible String Dusters warm the crowd up for Railroad Earth. Massive sound system really projected the energy of the bands into the audience. My chest was pumping with adrenaline and both my friend and myself became completely mesmerized by the second set. Awesome party. Awesome vibes. Awesome experience. I look forward to seeing both bands when in town next time.
Great two night run in the Bay! Independent was acoustically a better venue but the Oakland Fox was a better set list. Tears in my eyes at the Fox with a sweet "Railroad Earth" finally. The Potters Field seg into Lone Croft Fairwell was outstanding. I love these guys and their music delivery.....hey you Elko Cardies...get the throw moment right will ya!
The show was awesome, the fox theater is fabulous place for a show, beautiful venue, all the facilities are really top notch
Awesome show, both groups put on a tremendous show
I started listening to RE only a year ago and they are my new favorite for sure. I can't imagine why there weren't more folks at the show- I wished I had a PA system to shout out to the metroplex "Do you know what you are missing???" The musical talent blew us away, and I love the lyrics. Poetry set to music. The music was tight, the band was having fun, and they played a long show. Will catch them wherever we can.
