Very well organized! Rachel was fabulous! I have hope!
If you care about the preservation of this little experiment called democracy, you'll appreciate all of the historically-driven insights Rachel provides when she examines what is going on today...the parallels, the differences, challenges, answers, etc. The threats to our way of life, our rights, the Constitution are enumerable, but there is hope....the power of the people and the incredible need to express it now. Rachel offered terrific words of wisdom about how to best organize to drive impactful and peaceful resistance. It was a shot in the arm we all needed! The enthusiasm in the fully packed theater was utterly electric!
This show started 30 minutes late. The venue was extremely hot and uncomfortable. Rachel was good, but I wish there was a better way to have gotten questions submitted (other than writing them out right by the door). I’ve been to other shows where you can submit questions online. I’d recommend having a better venue and to start on time.
Rachel is fantastic, can be counted upon to be fantastic, couldn't be better. The seats at the back of the venue (Orpheum) are utterly disgusting, not deep enough to sit all the way back in the seat and not have your knees rub on the seat in front of you, not wide enough to have your elbows inside the armrests without squeezing, and utterly gross, dirty, and in terrible repair. I don't remember the downstairs seats being that bad; I guess they feel it is okay for the people paying less money to be treated like cattle. That said, the sound was good, so the experience of being there with Rachel and her fans was terrific.
Overall, Rachel was inspiring with an enthusiastic response from the audience. I wasn’t thrilled that the event started 30 minutes late. The seats were tiny and had no legroom. My guess is that with many of us in the senior citizen category, it was uncomfortable for much of the crowd. It was generous of her to give all of us a copy of her Prequel book, recently published in paperback. The expenditure of time and money was well worth it.
I loved seeing Rachel Maddow and I loved listening to her talk I could have listened to her all night. She was as always informative and easy to understand I appreciate her intelligence.
I have been a fan of Rachel's for over a decade. I was always frustrated that she didn't have events in Boston - until now! Rachel inspired me to keep up the little things I'm doing to resist.
Educational & inspirational. Despite all the bad news, Rachel is optimistic that people can have impact on the unlawful activities of this administration.
Such a great evening with Rachel Maddow, who is so smart and funny. She knows her history and gives me hope for the future of this country.
From the start Rachel was upbeat, positive and motivating, urging the sellout crowd to get involved in saving our Democracy. She urged the crowd to "do something, anything positive and nonviolent"to let the current administration know that we are not going accept its attempt to undermine what has stood strong for 250 years
Rachel M-Great show, a bit shorter than expected but excellent quality. Audience could not fully get seated until 0750. Typical shortage of women’s bathroom stalls too. A sold out or very popular event should allow for advance ticket purchasers to enter easier. Only one metal detector? Shuttles needed for parking for elderly or disabled, repair sidewalks on west side of Cornell St.
A brilliant writer, speaker, storyteller and Patriot. Rachel Maddow’s book, “Prequel”, is a must read in the strange political world we find ourselves in ever since a con man, grifter, racist, and all around buffoon took over the Republican Party in our United States. The all too short but educating, enlightening and funny evening with Rachel is a must for every fan of Democracy. History cannot repeat itself.
This woman does the hard, time-consuming and brain intensive work of analyzing history in the glaring light of today and helps us understand The Problem and make a plan to deal with it. Thank you Rachel - even more inspiring in person.
Rachel is one of the most intelligent, engaging, delightful speakers that I’ve ever heard. I loved every minute of her talk and would go hear her again tomorrow if I could.
Rachel has gone from being a reporter to being an historian on the very important subject of America combating authoritarianism here at home. I'm very happy she came to Tulsa (rescheduled after she got Covid some weeks ago) and am thrilled she filled the very large room (I think 3000 people) at the Cox Center. It was a great event!
This event was more than a pleasant surprise. We’ve watched Rachael over the years and listened to podcast. The book review and live conversation was fascinating and enjoyable. She shared some things from her life, and opened up the audience to introduce ourselves to each other. Her message was welcoming to those that we may not always agree with, and challenged us to have conversations with those people. We are all in this world together, and have to find a way to live in harmony again. This is certainly good advice for the times that we are living.
My husband and I both enjoyed her perspective on many issues. She is thoroughly prepared whether spontaneous or edited. We learned a bit about her background and then on to the subject of the book and its origins. She has an amazing thought process! She has a delightful sense of humor! She will be very busy with all her upcoming projects and we look forward to them. Thank you for coming to Oklahoma.
I saw Rachel last time she was in Tulsa. Glad I got to see her again. She is absolutely brilliant. Thanks to Magic City Books for making this possible.
Rachel was great! But the venue was not. All seating was one flat level making it very difficult to see. Yes, there were video screens but I can watch her on TV from home. Plus the rows of chairs were so close together that we all had to get up and move to the aisle when someone needed in or out.
It was great, except for one thing. Her interviewer needs to check out Toastmasters. He is not a good speaker. It was difficult to understand him. He did not enunciate well, his voice dropped at the end of sentences, and he strung words together too quickly. Even with the microphone, he did not project his voice. Anyone with English as a second language would have been in trouble. My native language is English and I had trouble. I attended Toastmasters for 7 years, so I do know what I am talking about. I kept wishing there were English subtitles so I could understand him. Rachel was FLAWLESS as usual - as a speaker, writer and human being. The guy who interviewed her seemed to have good questions and a good attitude, put Rachel at ease, just needs to take (at least) the basic 6 week Toastmasters class.
