ProMusica is a 5 star wow!

    by nora85 on 12/18/15Southern Theatre - Columbus

loved all the selections, but enjoyed Vivaldi's Four Season's the most. I think Promusica Chamber is better than Columbus Symphony Orchestra. I will come hear you again this season. Thanks for a wonderful evening. I love the Southern theater, too. can't get a bad seat... Columbus Jazz and Ballelment and you all! all three winners!

    David & Vasim Concert Magnificent

    by 75CJ on 5/14/15Southern Theatre - Columbus

Last week's concert by ProMusica featuring David and Vadim was truly awe inspiring. The Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 was exquisite and never performed more beautifully than by Vadim Gluzman under the baton of David Danzmayr. The entire concert was truly one of the most wonderful evening of music we've experienced.

This was my first Pro Musica experience. I'm a NY snob and easily bored by second-rate performances. I was thrilled with the quality of Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra. The conducting and playing was nuanced and alive with meaning. The team of David and Vadim was electric. Unfortunately, the selections weren't my favorites, but I'm so very glad that I went and will undoubtedly attend more performances in the future. By the way, the Southern Theatre is one of my favorite venues in Columbus and a perfect place for music. I can see from anywhere and the sound is full.

    Exceedingly great performances!

by NickDangerPrivateEye on 5/12/15Southern Theatre - Columbus

ProMusica is a hidden gem in Columbus. Absolutely Great musicians, who look like they are enjoying their own music. Because they are so good, this time they attracted a Violin soloist that was absolutely incredible. What a wonderful performance, what a wonderful evening!

    ProMusica Rocks!

by Davita on 11/12/14Southern Theatre - Columbus

Tim Russell is a high school classmate of mine. I have wanted to see him conduct this group for years. I was not disappointed a bit! In fact, I was completely delighted at the choice of pieces, the harpsichordist, the trumpeter, and the floutists along wiht the rest of the chamber orchestra! I found myself sitting there (in the front row) with a grin on my face as I enjoyed the conductor and the musicians as they enjoyed themselves playing together. Will strongly consider a season ticket to this group!

    Battenberg & Russell -- a great combination

by Anonymous on 11/12/14Southern Theatre - Columbus

Battenberg was superb as usual. The violin & flute soloists for the Bach were excellent. Overall a very enjoyable concert. My only disappointment was that there were not enough programs. I enjoy reading program notes and missed that opportunity.

Really happy that we decided to attend

by Sideral on 11/11/14Southern Theatre - Columbus

ProMusica always delivers quality performances, and this one was no exception. The highlight was Tom Battenberg playing Haydn's trumpet concerto. The Southern Theater is a perfect venue for small orchestra and chamber concerts

    The 18th Century lives

by Wrasfish on 11/11/14Southern Theatre - Columbus

Resphigi--it was like revisiting an old friend. Bach--the flutes and violin were flawless. Boyce--enchanting. Haydn--simply astounding. Mozart--only Mozart could have rounded out such a show.

Amazing Pairing of Two Great Groups

by HMark on 5/12/14Southern Theatre - Columbus

The transparency created by ProMusica's smaller size was the ideal backdrop for the Time for Three trio.Although both groups could put out he sound, nothing was lost. Everything was clean and the soloists and orchestra performed as a singular unit.

Maestro Danzmayr leads ProMusica to excellence!

by GaryJF on 4/8/14Southern Theatre - Columbus

It is wonderful to hear ProMusica sound so professional now that David Danzmayr is leading them. He brings out so much musicality, clarity, and balance. I also enjoyed hearing the soloist, Lera Auerbach, talk about her composition and her performance of the Mozart concerto. A wonderful evening!!

    Conductor knows Mozart!

    by gaelicgirl13 on 2/26/14Southern Theatre - Columbus

We really enjoyed David Danzmayr- and his marvelous choice to perform Mozart. I would love to see The Requim performed too. You could feel there was soooo much energy in the house Sunday night. Lancaster Chorale was the icing on the cake-wow!! We loved the Kancheli piece- especially when Kathrin sang the beautiful but haunting chords. Mozart lives! Thanks to all for on encore performance!

    A fantastic performance!

by RSDColOH on 11/13/13Southern Theatre - Columbus

This is a truly amazing ensemble. Every concert of theirs that I have attended has been nothing short of awesome. Even though Vadim Gluzman was unable to perform as advertised due to a family emergency, he had an extremely worthy substitute in Phillippe Quint, who was the best concerto soloist I have yet to hear live. Both Phillippe and conductor David Danzmayr made great personal sacrifices to ensure that the show would go on - and what a show it was! The Mendelssohn violin concerto was absolutely note perfect as was an originally unscheduled rendition of Mozart's 40th symphony. For those into classical music, this orchestra is a must see! With their new music director, David Danmayr at the podium, they have a very bright and fantastic future ahead!

    Ten times the value!

by JJJOhio on 11/12/13Southern Theatre - Columbus

My wife had never attended an orchestra event before and she was blown away. It's worth paying a little more to sit close. It's not often you get to "feel" the music as it's created. Beautiful performance and the staff at the Southern were as always very kind.

    Petri was great

by MimeDancer on 2/27/13Southern Theatre - Columbus

The recorder virtuoso Machela Petri played a wonderful performance with the Columbus Pro Musica Sunday night. She was stunning in the Vivaldi Concerto, demonstrating almost unbelievable technique and fluidity. She was un-amplified but because of the excellent acoustics of the Southern Theater she was able to be heard above the full chamber orchestra. After a standing ovation and three bows, she played a Danish folk song as an encore with, as she put it, "a few variations." Indeed! She first played the simple melody, then did it with flutter-tongue technique (like a bird call), then she HUMMED THE MELODY WHILE SHE PLAYED IT ON THE RECORDER! That brought down the house.

Michala Petri & ProMusica Chamber Orchestra -WOW!

by ClancyDixon on 2/26/13Southern Theatre - Columbus

WOW! I took my 19 year old daughter (cellist) to attend what is -for me- one of the most significant musical performances (I play wind instruments). The soloist is exemplary. The orchestra was both seasoned and sensitive to the music and direction of the conductor. The evening was magical and restorative. Thank you!
